According to a thread on the General Betting Forum the old site is due to be withdrawn before the new Football season begins in August.
Has anyone else heard of this?

I hope all of you carry out your promise to leave when they finally get rid of the old site. At least then we won't have to listen to a load of rubbish.

It would seem a foolish risk from Betfair to get rid of the old site, given that so many of their customers including some of their most longstanding ones detest the new site.

I honestly think it works very well for the Horse Racing, not great for other sports but I am really used to it and much prefer it to the old site for racing.

At first I hated the new site, and only bet on the old. Then gradually got used to the new site, and have given the old the elbow.A bit like getting a new phone, and wishing you still had the old one, then, when you fathom out how to get the best out of the new one,no looking back.

I don't see what the fuss is ? What does the old site do that the new one doesn't ?

The new site works perfectly well for me, at least.

Some people hate any kind of change, I suppose.

Sad

I tried it for a while but bets i left up at a price with take sp if not matched were often not matched at all or sometimes just a percentage was taken at sp.

Got sick of this and switched back

I just hope they speed the new site up a bit, £10.5 still too easily becomes £105.

Apart from that it's just getting used to the mini drop down to get to the place markets, I'd have hoped a newer site wouldn't increase the clicks for me to get to where I want to go.

We'll get used to it tho, nobody likes change.

Since when in the history of Betfair have they ever listened to their customers feedback.

Company motto is " Our way or the highway , do one scum if you dont like it ".

I just hope they speed the new site up a bit

WHY would that suddenly happen? - after ALL the time that the New site has been here.

IF they could - then, surely, it would have ALREADY been done.

It should already have been done, at least to match the "old" site but nothing ever moves quickly here. I'm hopeful rather rather than expectant onlooker, thf tho it is more responsive than when it first appeared, whatever happens we'll just have to adapt.

I started the thread on General Betting and the info regarding the deadline came from my account manager.

Believe it or not, the new site is better for horse racing (and football) than other sports.

Betfair believe it's just a case of people being averse to change (as some have pointed out on here) but there are fundamental issues with the new site.

Examples?  In the bet slip, matched and unmatched bets are not in market order (I believe this affects all sports except horse racing and football).  In events with many outcomes, this is a major ball-ache.

Another classic is anything with a long name doesn't show in full in the betting slip.  An example at the weekend: I had a few bets on Mayweather to win in certain rounds.  On the new site, the unmatched bets in my betting slip read "Mayweather Ro...." There was no way to tell which rounds each bet were for!!!  Each line cut off the word Round and didn't include the number!

Every time I've had to use it for five minutes, I find something new which would make it unusable.  The response from Betfair so far is that I'll have to find an API to use.

If you have an issue with the new site, please inform Betfair now.  They must be made aware that there are serious problems with the new site and it's not just a case of people scared to try something new.

I am not adverse to change if it is for the better. My betting habits changed dramatically when betfair became an alternative way of placing bets rather than the traditional bookmakers.

I have tried the new site and don't like anything about it at all, it reminded me of when Microsoft launched the useless Vista operating system.

I play on the old site pre race and use my assistant in running. If the old site closes, my business pre race will cease. I detest the new site

Its the same in most walks of life unfortunately......the decision makers never listen, are paid fortunes and invariably fook it all up and often, then they leave to their role to go to a bigger better paid role and start all over again.

Its all very easy to see what will happen in the future.
Think about this.
if you are a customer that goes to a shop everyday and the shop stops supplying the item you want its not difficult to work out whats happens.
No shop will stay in business if it does not supply what its customers want.
Betfair are well known for shooting themselves in the foot, but this time they are going to shoot themselves in the head.
The guy who proposed the idea to close the old site should be sacked today, because if the proposel goes ahead he will still be sacked but the customers will be long gone.

but undoubtedly they can one click you directly to the casino with the new site. Maybe they can do that on the old site I don't know. Their customer service is poor but they are massive market leaders and feel untouchable. Personally I think the operating of a sportsbook is more worrying than an Old v New issue. Once we could bet or lay multiples at decent prices, now we can't and if you get a couple of these accas up on the sportsbook they then restrict.
