I think first and foremost you need a designated 'gambling' bank account, so that your main account (Any wages, household bills) isn't full of gambling transactions, set up a regular standing order from your gambling to your household account so that theres a record of regular payments in. Absolutely correct. Separate bank account is essential. |
By:
Quite simply -you can't get one . I have recently moved- I have won regularly for the past 15 years-I have kept a record of all bets over that period. The banks /lenders would not take into account any of this-its not a guaranteed income. I saved up winnings and with the sale of my previous house (no mortgage on this as paid off) bought my present property outright.
Previously a self certification mortgage was the way forward-this has now ceased and so the above was/is the only option. Hope this answers the original question. |
By:
The crazy thing about not lending to some is ridiculous though imo. If you are a bank and are in the game of giving out mortgages why would you not lend to someone with a 50%+ deposit? As a lender that is a virtual risk free lend isn't it? If they don't pay, you take the house with all of the equity already paid. It would need a massive property price crash for you to be on the losing end - which won't happen.
By:
You do realize that you've just explained why a massive, 50% property crash is indeed a possibility in the opinion of banks and other lenders?
By:
if you know you're going to be asking for a mortgage in 3 months time, could you not just stop any gambling interactions through the bank for 3 months. then when they ask for 3 months statements, they'll be gambling free ...
By:
Doesn't help with the lack-of-job issue though, hulk23.
Perhaps the answer is to use the shadow banking system in the Far East. They would probably take Magic__Daps' view, since they seem to lend to people in that part of the world at multiples of a dozen times income in order to invest/ speculate/gamble in property in London. That's one factor that has driven asking prices in the UK generally to a level which no longer bears any relationship to actual money, whether earned or won. |
By:
Pro gamblers earn their money. Differentiating between earn or won infers the latter has been obtained by luck ( ie lottery winnings).
By:
Gambling involves winning and losing. Propuntering only differs in that it demands that the total wins outstrip the total losses, but it's still the sum of winning and losing.
And it still requires luck in that you need the wins and losses to be distributed fairly evenly. You can be doing absolutely the right thing, but you can still be destroyed if the losses are strung together in a single sequence. Perfectly likely to, say, win £20k one year, lose £20k the next and win £40k the year after. At the end of three years you are theoretically a successful PROPUNTER, "earning" on average over 13 grand a year. But in practice, without substantial savings, you're wiped out even before the end of year two. |

"Inform Bank Manager/Broker you follow a bloke called Zippers tips on betfair ,this should speed things a long ..." ![]() Don't think a bank would be too happy if they knew the mortgage repayments were linked-up to Zippers tips ! ![]() |

By:
ask yourselves a question
IF YOU WERE A LENDER OF LARGE SUMS OF MONEY,WOULD YOU LEND IT TO SOMEONE WHO'S INCOME WAS AS A GAMBLER? common sense isnt it. |
By:
I would if they had a chunky deposit, if they had 5% then no chance. More chance of them paying imo, than some of the ones on the help to buy scheme (or whatever other ones are on the market now) - who basically when the interest free loan period is up they won't be able to afford the payments.
By:
its the risk of not paying the balance without a taxable income thats the problem.

Why don't 'pros' disguise their activity through sites such as moneybookers? I'm not a pro but have thought about this as to avoid endless betting transactions on my bank account but, at this moment in time and hoepfully never again, I do not need a loan of any sort.
