3.20 Ajjaadd 1pt EW @ 25-1 First run for over 2 months when shaping OK on his Carnival debut, chasing the pace and only fading out a place well inside the final furlong to be beaten just under 3 lengths; he will need to come on for that run to have a chance of a place here, but he's entitled to at his age; SDS takes over in the saddle. 3.55 Pit Stop 1pt win @ 10-1 Selected last week when I thought he was interesting stepped up to 10f having caught the eye more than once when with Michael Halford, however he was effectively used as a pacemaker for his strong-staying stablemate and didn't see it out; steps back to a mile here and Barzalona rides this time, but a concern this will come soon enough after a tough enough race last week in defeat. 4.30 Clacodera 2pts win @ 11-4 Racing on a quick surface for the first time when looking unlucky not to have beaten males in a well contested Listed race at Kempton on her latest start, having to wait for a gap as the winner got first run before running on strongly and just failing to get there; she has to prove she is as effective on quick turf but the sire offers hope that she will be and makes strong appeal back against her own sex. 6.15 Tanfeeth 1pt EW @ 16-1 Hasn't won since 2011 but some good runs in defeat, including at least year's Carnival when placed twice; hasn't been in much form this time around but did show more on his latest start in a first time visor in a non-carnival handicap, over a trip short of his best. Visor on again and given a speculative vote at a price for a trainer who does well at the Carnival and had a winner last week. |

Slim, I'm disappointed they didn't leave PS with Halford, cuz I thought he had a decent handicap in him. I think this is the new trainer's first year with a licence, so it will be interesting to see which way the horse goes.
Good luck with your picks. |

Decent run 3 weeks ago in what looked a good race. Think it could improve for the extra 2f after looking a bit one paced at 7f. All best form is on dirt including its run in the Swedish Derby in 2013 in which it was cruising until not staying the extra 2.5f. 3.55 Life Partner Interesting dirt debut on what was a trip that was on the sharp side. Got hampered and was in the kickback for most of the race. The race is already working out well and will surely improve for the extra 2f. Good luck all today |

3.20 Fountain Of Youth 1pt win @ 12-1 Reportedly in need of the run on debut for MdK when down the field on his reappearance last week and not given a hard time when held; of interest here belatedly trying 6f again since he made his debut over the trip as a 2YO. His best form to date came when beating subsequent Nunthorpe 3rd Extortionist over 5f in a G3 at the Curragh last season, responding well to pressure to get on top close home and shaping as though well worth another try at 6f. Earlier form as a 2YO included a running on 4th (1st of 13 in his group) in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot, again leaving the impression another furlong could suit well. FOY has a wide draw to contend with here, and the run last week didn't suggest a win was imminent, but I've been waiting for him to try 6f again and this is an ease in grade, so gonna take a chance for the minimum stake. 6.15, Magic City 1pt win @ 10-1 Only had the 5 starts at 1 mile and yet to win at the trip but there appears little doubt that he stays the distance well, particularly on his strong finishing 3rd in a valuable 1m Heritage Handicap at Glorious Goodwood, where he had this year's Carnival winner Belgian Bill behind. After a short break MC reappeared in a competitive C2 handicap at Lingfield 13 days ago, and although reported by his jockey to have never travelled, the visual impression was that he shaped well enough, staying on well from the rear but having nowhere to go in the final furlong behind a wall of horses. No doubt he will be dependent on a decent pace and luck in running if Hughes elects to hold the horse up again, but at a double-figure price a chance is taken for the minimum stake. |

Unlucky fozwald.
FOY seemed to stay the trip fine but could only plod at the one pace for 5th. But hey, look on the bright side, I saved a point by not going EW. Good to get off to another depressing start... |
|
By:
I'd not be shocked to see FOY win one of these George I don't think he's fully wound up. Unlucky with yours Foz.
|
|
By:
According to the RP spotlight, mackies, MdK has said the horse still wasn't fully tuned up. I think that will need to be the case, and maybe he wasn't on the best part of the track?

this race looks very hard ,modern history seems big at 190 and beat baby did not much wrong ,money for krypton factor could be significant ,had some bits and pieces but wont stay .
Modern history @ 190 for me |
|
By:
Draw was a slight concern but I hoped he'd have enough to beat this lot. Won well enough lto & I don't mind backing these higher end sprinters a few times once they look like they are getting to form
