too true arklearkle, but if those Hong Kong rules were in place here Barney Curley would have been kicked out of racing long before he retired.

class 5's and 6's at least would be a thing of the past
don't mind inconsistent horses, can get good prices on these on the lower class stuff. i just think a horse that has been tailed off every race should not be given a mark, if the trainer has sorted it out from being a complete no hoper he should have to show something on the racecourse before it runs in a hcp. |

Horse like Curley who land a gamble after a heap of duck eggs and then all of sudden racks up another 6 or 7 duck eggs that is deliberate inconsistency.

Silver at least people were aware of Barney - its the sneaky models of society types who annoy me. Some of what goes on is very subtle and I reckon plenty of the big priced winners in races like low quality handicap hurdles are not totally unfancied. Every 50 pound note wins a thousand or more.

The BHA have got rules to cover any scenario,the problem is they have got no guts,they should be able to withdraw a trainers licence when in their opinion the trainer is bringing the game into disrepute.
It wasnt that long ago that a certain horse(forgot the name of it.)ridden by M Goldstein was blatant ridden to get its handicap mark down,Jim Best and Goldstein were called in by the stewards who noted their explanation. The horse was detached for most of the trip ,but then ran on past several backmarkers to finish full of running,the next time it ran Goldstein went off like a scalded cat until tiring badly in the final 1/4 mile,the ride was clearly a pi 44 take at the stewards. Another race at Brighton,Best had 2 runners,one had been heavily backed in the morning on the exchanges,the other ons drifting,I saw someone I knew had contacts in the yard,he told me they didnt fancy the one that had been heavily backed,but the one that had drifted,the latter bolted with the well backed stable mate well beaten with(guess who on?) yes youve guessed P Doe. |

in the lower class races, the horses are mostly very moderate, sorry to state the obvious there. the point is you have trainers trying to win races for owners with poor stock and poor prize money. so they obviously need to place their horses to get weight off when they become unfeasibly treated, you'll see so many each day in hcps that just aren't given their conditions and any sort of poor tactics can enhance their downfall under these conditions. am constantly looking for these types in hcps i dont think yesterdays plot is the same thing at all |

Fair enough we all knew what Curley was doing, other trainers are more subtle about things, Curley was taking the proverbial pi-ss out of the authorities for years while at the same time taken great pleasure out of it, the authorities knew this but were terrified to move against Curley and his bully boy tactics. Usually the threat of legal action.
But we all know horses cant talk!. |

They found the worst race imaginable to try with a stopped horse , not often they dont get given a mark after 5 or 6 runs over timber.
I find it hilarious how clever they think they are really, its completely sickening , apparently they went into a hills shop and tried to have 16k at 5-2, GLWTP. You cant really have a touch in these bad heats , not from a marked yard like his. By the time tuppence hapennys gone on at the so called best prices they end up taking evens. |

If you trusted them with your money yesterday ....... look up a horse they trained called Saute when it ran at Hereford in 2011 ...... looks a similar pattern .... made no show when 33/1, 100/1, 100/1 & 14/1 on soft/heavy going ....... then 2nd time in a h/cap, going= G-F, including a late change of jockey to AP ........ 2nd time in a h/cap off 93 backed off the boards to 4/6f .... and loses (3rd) !! ......... later that year went on to win 3 h/cap hurdles when rated up to 120........ so had at least a stone in hand when beat (deliberately ?). .....
