By all means,stand up to one if you feel it is right to do so. However,this horse was running off the same 85 as its Flat Mark (possible 40 lbs wrong). Do not bleat when you get "caned". |

It was a "well planned plot", Gery. Have you never heard of one? even the most well planned plots have some indication of form over similar conditions, usually horses are taken away from these conditions for a good spell to get really competitive and then returned with the accompanying market signal. this one, the horse couldn't even jump and was always out the back, never remotely put in a race. well done to them they got their prize today but don't be all condescending about it or act as though these plots never fail, everything has a price, i layed it at evens and was wrong this time, doesn't mean i should back all these plots at near bottom price does it? |

yes i dont mind getting it wrong it was obvious it was going to put up a much better performance, i just couldn't have it on the way i'd seen it jump.
i'm wondering whether it was actually schooled much before its 6 hurdles runs to qualify for a mark. i think its cases like this when a mark shouldn't be given, the horse has just done nothing to be rated on. i'll know better next time with best that's for sure. i actually look for my bets mostly on the basis in the low grade hcps that i know they have not been placed recently to do the horse justice but also know that its possible the conditions this day are likely to make it a punt, this is usually because the horse has indicated this, even if it were a year ago. everything has a price, saying you should be in care for laying at evens is a bit strong, that's all i'm saying to racingstar  |

BTW I said at the start of this thread that I would not be getting involved because of who it was,and because of who it was the race stunk,but it wouldnt have been the first time that one of his that has been heavily backed got beat.

perhaps best should school his horses a bit better in future before they hit the race course
for something to show no aptitude over jumps whatsoever and looking a likely faller in every race to be given a mark at all is utterly wrong. horses like this should not be given a hcp mark imo |

Below is a rule from the Hong Kong book of regulation stridingedge, maybe the BHA might think of introducing something similar?.
"(25) To order that future entries or declarations be not accepted for any horse the performances of which in their opinion have been unduly inconsistent. (26) To penalise any person who, in their opinion, has been responsible for or has been a party to the unduly inconsistent running of any horse" |
