The Sheikh know full well what is going on at his yards, especially with horses being prepared for classics.
After all, he removed all his horses from trainers because he wanted control. About time he was asked some questions instead of all the bowing and scraping that goes on when dealing with royal houses. |

Sheik Mohammed, founder of the shamed Godolphin operation, has been tainted previously by three equine doping infringements involving himself, his family and his horses.

well if he wasn't gonna front up before the race, that was her only oppotunity, unless she drives round to godolphin and passes the mike thru the window to him!!!!!!!!

the Daily Mail...oh well that must be true then

Question need asking but not at that moment. He could have declined the interview altogether her asking him if he thought about staying away from the races" after what he has done for British racing I feel like that was poor judgement.
By:
Themover, Al-Zarooni himself said that the Sheikh got personally involved with every aspect of the horses, even down to their individual feeding habits. Do you really believe that nobody higher up than al-Zarooni knew the horses were being drugged up?
By:
no idea Cooee, that's what the inquiry is for
By:
I can tell you that the Sheik is very much hands on with his training operations. It beggers belief that he did not have some notion of what's going on. Also the now aborted winter Dubai prep looks a bit dodgy now.

PATHETIC from channel 4...Balding a complete fool for attempting such antics
CONCENTRATE ON THE CLASSIC for godsake... Sheikh Mohammed SAVED ch4 racing from oblivion.. total disaster something needs to be done |
By:
By:
maybe its Channel 4's way of promoting British horse racing by asking the owner of the Guineas about a doping enquiry that is going on straight after the race!

Have some of you seen the Frost report scetch with John Cleese, Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett. Take a good look at Ronnie Corbett
By:
I don't think he is involved in it at all, its just he has high standards and the pressure on his trainers must be very intense to get the wins, but I highly doubt a guy like the Sheik would get any pleasure at all winning through dishonest means.
By:
If he'd just started off the interview by apologising for what had happened, and explaining that this was the beginning of Godolphin's attempt to rebuild its reputation, CB wouldn't have needed to ask him anything. It doesn't matter whether he 'saved' UK horse racing. That shouldn't entitle him to be untouched by criticism.

Claire flexed her mussels there.

maybe after Fallons next winning ride she can ask him about his past offences, at least she'd be asking someone who has already been found guilty

The Sheik was suspended for six months in 2009 and fined £2,500 by the International Equestrian Federation after his mount Tahhan tested positive for banned substances, including stanozolol, in two competitions.
In addition, Tahhan's trainer, Abdullah bin Huzaim, was banned for 12 months. In a statement at the time, the Sheik said he had a stake in 700 endurance horses but could not be expected to be aware of each one's medication protocol. Yet only a month earlier, his wife, Princess Haya, the FEI president, had stressed that it was up to the rider to know how his horse was managed. A year later, Sheik Hamdan was in trouble when traces of stanozolol were found in his horse Eo Fawati in an endurance race in Bahrain. There's been plenty of complaints about how no journalists have dared to ask the real questions over this affair, so it seems a bit churlish to claim Balding should be sacked for doing so. Was the timing appropriate? Perhaps not, but when else is she going to do it?
He's done a lot for racing in this country, but that doesn't mean he's entitled to immunity from questioning and criticism. He's a very rich man who splashed millions on a ready-made 2yo champion. Of course he's entitled to celebrate, but the more pressing issue is the fact his operation has dragged the sport's name through the mud in the national press. As others have said, it'd have been nice if he'd have acknowledged that up front, instead of having to be asked the question. |
By:
Oh. It's him is it.
By:
Sorry Salmon the post was possibly a bit obscure to anyone without reasoning thought process,
my apologies |
By:
Even before today, based on previous interviews, my impression has been that the Sheik does not care too much for Clair Balding. Whether this is due to prehistoric religious perceptions on sexuality we can only summise
By:
Not as telepathic as all that then..
By:
Cooee
I did not require telepathy to work you out..... only reading skills. |

I'm certainly not telepathic.
I'm not infomaniac either. I am much politer. |

The Mover you were questioning that the earlier post may not be the truth, as you can see it is fact and maybe someone should have the b***s to to ask him about this too along with barbaric treatment of people by the Dubai plod, not just the drug takers
I admire you for trying to stay loyal to your ruler...it may get you an upgrade the next time you fly Emirates. Before her re-election in 2010, Princess Haya faced persistent and highly public criticisms from some members of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) Bureau for behaving dictatorially and violating the organisation's democratic principles and procedures to pursue her own agenda.[13] Some members of the FEI Bureau and the international press expressed the opinion that her behaviour reflected her background as a member of an unelected ruling family accustomed to unquestioning obedience, rather than an elected president of a democratic institution.[14] Her re-election campaign was opposed by both of her personally chosen vice presidents and a majority of the FEI Bureau members who had worked with her.[13] In 2009, in the middle of the FEI's campaign to eliminate doping and horse abuse in equestrian sport, Princess Haya's husband and stepson were both convicted by the FEI for serious doping violations.[15] Princess Haya ceded presidential powers to a senior colleague for the FEI disciplinary processes on the matter. She later complained that the issue would be used to "injure and damage the reputations of myself and my family." |

No need to sack anybody, imo, but
1) these fkn silly attempted interviews before and and after racing should stop. The sh ite we do hear is not the slightest help to punters and is about as much use as that fashion stuff at Ascot. Call it off now and give us a few facts: a clear caption with the result, time , prices etc, would be more to the point. 2) the two mushes who walked away did right, imo. Btw, the hated one isn't always as bad as we might expect. I was at Epsom years ago before the bstr ds who run racing fenced off the paddock to benefit VIPs. Right near where all the nobs walk out was a big family of travellers. The dad shouts out to his kids, " oi, there's Sheikh Mo!" The bearded mush and his young half English bride turned around and smiled, seemingly chuffed at the recognition. Vain, or what? Only human, I suppose. On the other hand, media pillocks would try to walk right through you and are expert at snubbing and giving the brush off. So, let's be fair, and lets get rid of all this microphone sh it. It does no good and just annoys folk. |
