FAIL If this forum is at all representative of Britain as a whole then there has never been a bigger divide between people. The people of the UK have never ever been more polarised politically, socially, and economically. Truth? FAIL Again, the people of the UK have never ever had more distrust of their politicians or their government. This is evidenced by the findings of independent surveys and also by record low voting turnouts. Faith? FAIL If by faith she meant faith in our great British institutions of police, law and state - and the principles of justice and fairness that they are supposed to represent, then that is a lost cause. Since 1979 the apparatus of the state has been used time and time again to validate unfair government policy, to subjugate workers and to punish anyone who will not submit. Hope? FAIL Are British people more or less hopeful about the future than they were in 1979? Rhetorical question of course, since the answer is obvious. Falling living standards, rising unemployment, rising crime, attacks on the poor, a lack of affordable housing, failing schools, privatised postcode healthcare, a chronic lack of real jobs, no training opportunities, and a lack of organised resistance, and an economy ready to crash again, give people less hope than they have had for perhaps a century. No, by Thatcher´s own measures she failed in creating anything worthwhile. Where she succeeded was in destroying: unions, one nationism, manufacturing industry, independence from the US, and all semblance of a better life for ordinary people. |

This thread shows what a desperate state this country is in and what vile people populate it. The frankly sickening comments about somebody who has just died are disgusting - even Hitler wouldn't have garnered such a reaction. They all seem to come from Tory haters (and by definition Labour supporters) which must make you all proud. What a sad state of affairs if that sorry crew ever got back into power who did more in 13 years to destroy this country than anybody before in history - and I hate all politicians of whatever party.

she is responsible for the destruction of the manufacturing base of the UK, she is responsible for the lack of housing through her decision to bribe voters with cut price council houses meaning that they were unavailable for future generations, she was responsible for the unfettered free market that has created a banana republic in the financial institutions and worse of all she wasted billions of pounds of north sea oil. a truly rancid individual who is quite rightly hated by all rational thinkers. |

Mad Thatch created a minu USA and has destroyed the UK. If the mad bint did not have North Sea Oil and an opportunistic war to prop her up she would have been binned in 1 term. It is also a little known fact that she increased public spending dramatically during her tenure. In essence bribing certain sectors of society with bloody north sea oil. i phuckin hate the women. She would have been more suited to be the governor of some loony us state like Alabama or Mississippi. |

The money wasted on wages in the motor industry is legend SP. I worked in the motor industry in the 70's and it was absolutely ridiculous. Why don't you tell me what would have happened if the unions had their way? Give it a go.
