As Posy said any decent retail establishment with any morals at all would have told the guy to take the money out the till and put it through as sundry expenses, probably another joker who thought the £30 was coming out of his own pocket

Ronnie, yes I'm Cheltenham so we're talking about the same shops! I live near to the bath road.
The manager & deputies ladies (blonde & brunette) used to limit me (customer X etc) in Coral's. Walked into Powers & she's there & I try having £200 on at 16/1. No problem, "it wasn't me limiting you it was the regime!" I viewed them in a very different light after that. Powers have got a couple of good one's there ![]() |

If your in there tomorrow tell her the good looking geordie who works for korals and who blagged an umbrella off her in December for the other half, will see her next week. |

Ronnie
do you work in the Newcastle area |
|

Haha will do buddy.
I'm reliably informed that Powers are planning on tripling the size of their retail estate over the next 18 months so you never know. They may be in your town sooner than you think. |

its just that i was talking to a former colleague yesterday who said even Captain Coral ( whickam manager ) had chucked it . Things must be bad . |

If I'm thinking of the same bloke I met the captain a few times when he came to my area, nice lad very conscientious thought of nothing but the company but like the rest of us the area manager used him to bits, glad he’s got out and hope he’s doing well and hope I will be following his lead soon. Everyone says get out but it’s easier said than done when you have bills to pay, however didn’t expect the captain to abandon ship, but then again things really are that bad. |

ronnie, a friend had a bet at krangi(singapour) today, it was a f/c a 2/5 shot to beat 12/1 shot.came in the other way but pays just 6 quid, the tote for the win pays over 12 quid. a quick check of the rules board, says all singapour races return d/f. so i tell the girl who says she,l ring up, they was adament that they was right and it was a straight f/c, the manager came in half hour later and upon seeing the rules paid my friend out, the thing is how many people are having winning betshere yet not getting paid out.

I doubt very much you would get any sympathy from about work related rights as any
government that can mastermind forcing young and old citizens on benefits to work for employers for there benefits or face surviving on nothing isn't just get get the numbers down that aren't in work really doesn't give a toss about the working class. |
|

sorry I will proof my last post.
I doubt very much you would get any sympathy about work related rights as any government that can mastermind forcing young and old citizens on benefits to work for employers for their benefits or face surviving on nothing just to get the numbers down to keep in power, really doesn't give a toss about the working and poor classes. |

when i worked for koral in the 80s one saturday the settler didnt turn up.
area manager told me id have to manage on my own,i settled over 1400 bets that day coral won about 2200 on the day that was mega money then. when i rang the figures in at the end of the day around 7 pm area manager wasnt interested in what id done, all he wanted me to do was check all bets for a overcharge, one of the girls on the till was a pound short. i left about 6 months later never looked back. |

Corals were the only betting shop chain to give a racing diary this year - full marks to them for that
seems quite an easy job these days with settling machines, long hours I know but if the staff are paid by the hour presumably they want that |
|
By:
Ronnie I have heard nowt about Bernie for over 20 years I do know
that when he left the firm he opened a bar in fleet st, called the Pen and Whistle, what became of it I know not. |

Can't he walk home & save the £30?
|
|
By:
2o miles in this weather would you walk it
|
|
By:
you could recoup the £ by placing an accumulator on the football which could win you ££££££££££££££££
|
|
By:
££££££££££££££££ in this weather would you back it
|
|
By:
Switch the cctv off and go through the bin bags for any sleepers that have been thrown away.........
|
|
By:
Start walking the 20 miles home, collapse half way, get rushed to hospital, make a statement as to why he did such an idiotic thing. Both the ranc.1d area manager and firm would get some deserved media abuse, sorted.

He should wait until the end of his shift.
Ring up HO and tell them the he can't shut up shop as the locks are frozen, followed by "got to go, got a long walk home". |
|
By:
should have took a leaf out of the book of the manager who used to run the corals in parkway camden town in the early 90s he used to have his own fruit machine hidden in the ladies khazis which he used to wheel out and replace there one and is also meant to have an omron till under the counter which he used to switch on when racing started and stand bets himself.
that kid would have showed the lad how to turn the situation round |

He should have known better !
