If you have a contract with someone they are not your employers. If the contract expired Jan 1 he's got no case.
Besides, evryone can be forced to retire at 65 anyway. Why should he be any different?

reinstatement of the employee to his former post is an option tribunals and courts can consider
may be that is the face saving way forward for both parties in this case

Tell you one thing. I for one certainly don't miss him standing in the ring with Tanya telling us what the bookies are offering, while drunken idiots try to get in the picture.
That's worth £500,000? !

If C4 want support for their action in getting rid of the buffoon, they just need to ask us. His age has nothing to do with it.

"McCririck said he would drop the legal action if he is 'fully' reinstated, receives an apology and all his costs are met."

Deluded old fool.

They can't force the employer to do so.

Just to repeat: If he was under contract he was not an employee and therefore has no rights outside of those in the contract.

I pray that McCrirrick doesn't win. I can't see that he has any case at all. His knowledge of racing is minimal and he has got away with a cushy number for years. He was a useless bookmaker who had to be baled out by people like Barney C so how he can criticise other bookies is hypocrisy beyond belief.
Some people claim he has been good for racing but I cannot agree. Everything he does is for his own self-agrandisement and/or his pocket. Any benefits to other parties is purely accidental.
He is a thoroughly unpleasant man who should go gracefully. Sadly like a past-it entertainer, he can't live without the oxygen of publicity.

C4 threw him a lifeline when they took him on about 25 years ago, ungrateful sod !  And Barney saved him as well once.  How much does he expect of people.

I think we should be more understanding to, John's plight. He's been on the gravy train for so long he doesn't know any other life. I would say to those currently on that gravy train. Enjoy the ride while it lasts and don't end up a bitter old man like, John.

The guy's 72 with a routine 30 yrs out of date - does he really expect his 'Lord Snooty', 'female' ravishing Clare and other nicknames designed to promote himself, to appeal to IMG?
He was lucky to last so long. And that Badblokes advert is dire!

On both counts you are completely wrong.

Someone on a continuously renewing contract may be considered to have acquired employment rights similar to those of employees, as indeed can agency staff nowadays.

Since 5th October 2012 employers can no longer force their employees to retire at the age of 65.

Don't IMG issue the contracts? His previous 'employers' no longer produce the progs for C4.
