interesting to hear what Mac suing them for.
Let's say £100k a year salary. That's 30 years salary....... He's already 72, so would have to presumably prove he is employable to the age of 102? Plenty of flaws in that argument. Doesn't earn a fraction of that salary and should have been retired some time ago let alone be offered further employment. Sounds like a publicity stunt. |

He is also taking action against IMG Sports Media as he seeks damages totalling £3million following his axing from C4 racing coverage. Big Mac said : "Channel 4 and IMG Sports Media were yesterday each served a letter before action for age discrimination."

"For loss of future earnings, unfair career damaging, public humiliation, stress and mental anguish, I will be seeking £500,000....
"I am seeking a further exemplary, punitive £2.5m, part of which will be donated to charitable organisations helping to prevent negative prejudice in the workplace." McCririck said he was being represented on a no-win no-fee basis by employment and sports law specialist solicitor Stephen Beverley, of the London West End Cavendish Legal Group. humiliation, stress and mental anguish? His lawyer has presumably not witnessed his client's public appearances in nappies.... |

For him to sue them for age discrimination they would have had to mention his age during the process of advising him that he was no longer required. That would be surprising and give him a case, but, £3 million pound.

It'll bankrupt him
I do hope so. Presumably his contract expired at the end of 2012. They chose not to renew it. Seems quite straightforward to me. |
|
By:
He should be fined 3 million for wasting everybodys time and the scum-sucking law firm that are representing him on a no win no fee basis should be closed down.

from the Guardian Oct 25th "..."According to Channel 4, I'm being sacked after audience research," said McCririck.
"Yet, as Clare Balding, a terrific choice to lead the new young team, said recently, I've become the face of racing alongside Frankie Dettori and now of course Clare herself." Wish they would publish the audience research. Maybe John would get a reality check of the esteem in which he is held. |

John McCririck
John McCririck Former Channel 4 racing pundit John McCririck is seeking £3m in damages over claims he was dropped by the broadcaster because he is too old. The outspoken presenter was among a number of faces axed by the channel after it awarded the production contract to IMG Sports Media, ending its previous agreement with Highflyer. McCririck spoke out last October at the time of the decision, which he blamed on ageism. And he revealed in a statement: "Channel 4 and production company IMG Sports Media were yesterday each served a letter before action for age discrimination. "After 29 years with Channel 4 Racing, on a rolling annual contract, I have been sacked without any consultation or cogent explanation. I am 72. "For loss of future earnings, unfair career damaging, public humiliation, stress and mental anguish, I will be seeking £500,000. "Ageism is illegal. For tens of thousands of employees it has become the feared scourge of our society. "This litigation should prove to be a watershed. There's no upper limit to the amount of damages employment tribunals can award under the Equality Act 2010. |

Being 'the face' of something isn't necessarily a positive thing. |

Public humiliation? ![]() ![]() ![]() He's got a f*cking cheek after his antics on Big Brother. I would hope that C4's defence would point out that the only one keeping this issue in the public eye is McCririck himself. The overwhelming majority don't give a toss. |

They'll settle.
Racing's gravyplate lickers will not want their dirty washing exposed in court. Hopefully McCririck will sell some stories to the gutter press and expose a few names. |
