LaughLaughLaugh I said Mormon, not moron, and that was a gag. I accept your
apology sir. thank you. My adjective describing you as clueless, was uttered due to frustration
and nothing more. I too apologize.

I didn't know you were a mormon motley, mormonism is prob my fav Latter Day Saint movement. If you were on fire I would wrap you in a damp blanket and telephone the appropriate emergency services.

LaughLaughLaughLaughLaugh thanks brother, I'm not a mormon.
I'm a devote atheist. (thank god)

Brigust I'll decline your urination offer, as the brother has
offered a more suitable form of help, should I ever catch fire.
But I do expect you to offer a sincere apology, and nothing less will
suffice.

Knowing how easy it is to decline a good offer when you are not actually 'on fire' I think, in your interest, I will wait until the required moment then, if you still will not accept my offer, I will rightly reconsider my position.
By:
motley01
When: 02 Aug 12 16:49
I take it then, you are not going to offer a sincere apology.
I'm being very serious now, I didn't take kindly to your personal insult.
By:

I care not Mot. I made an offer in good faith considering it was you who, in fact, made the first insult and that is where I will leave it.
By:

I certainly won't be leaving at that, "you made a good offer to piss on me
if i caught fire" eh, which is another insult. I called you clueless, owing to your number of inane posts.
You then call me a "moron, a fcuking ****", who you would not piss on me if I were on fire". You then come
on the forum and sulk, then seek sympathy, you then chuck all you toys out, and tell everyone that's it, you
are finished and you will not be posting again.
You then do a 100% u-turn,  enter the thread, as if you were hard done by, and as if nothing has happened,
and offer no apology. So if your are not prepared to be a man and offer an apology, I can take it, that you
stand by your original comments, is that right?.

The reason it is much harder today is that veterinary science and training are far higher generally thereby making racing generally more competitive. Its also much more widespread now to have international competition.

People like Vincent O Brien and Martin Pipe exploited a significant advantage in their knowledge of training techniques which has now levelled off around the world.

Ergo Group Flat races are harder to win - ignore the 'creep' of new ones - just focus on the properly contested traditional ones.

Bad timing that post hip. I'm going to ask you one more time brigust
Either retract your insults and apologize, or state that you stand by them.

Thought the C4 interview with Joe Mercer interesting. Joe was throughout my youth my favourite jockey and would put him in the top 3 I've seen in the UK along with Piggott and the incomparable Steve Cauthen. I have the upmost respect for Joe as a wonderful judge.

C4 interviewed Joe last year, and surprising to me said, "Frankel would have made a great lead horse". His view this year has become too close to call.

What really thrilled me about the Joe Mercer interview was when he was asked about Kris. I'm too young to have clear memories of the Brig, to my eyes(pre-Frankel) Kris was THE best horse I'd seen over any trip and Joe waxed lyrical about his brilliance and how close he was to the Brigadier.

Joe was also of the opinion that Frankel will stay 10F standing on his head. Twelve maybe a different story. Joe said the Brig was out on his feet in the last 2F of the KG and courage got him home.

Joe Mercer, who rode Brigadier Gerard and Kris, interviewed on C4 racing

When asked about Kris and Brigadier Gerard he said 'He wasn't far behind him I can assure you' that is exactly what Joe said, and that would be right. Timeform rated BG 3 lengths better than Kris (who won 14 from 16 races). Where I disagree with Timeform is that they have Excelebration only 2lbs behind Kris.

He also said, when asked about Frankel 'The press say he is the greatest racehorse in the world, I doubt that. But he is one of the very best we will ever see, that's for sure.'

And when asked if BG met Frankel in the Sussex he said 'It would be very close, exciting and very close.'

And he also said 'he (Frankel)will get 10f standing on his head but 12f, no way'.

He then went on to say that BG was out on his feet two out in the King George only courage and determination saw him through and that he was a very sick horse at York. But when dropped back to a mile after York he won the QE11 in possibly the fastest time it has ever been run in and broke the course record.

Joe and I have always disagreed about the KG. The press had interviewed Hern after the race and he said, because BG had never really seen the whip, 'to give him a reminder if he showed any signs of running lazily but he (Joe Mercer) needed to do no more than swing his whip at him and gave him one slap when he passed Parnell below the distance'.

I personally believe had he not stayed he wouldn't have won. He had the Irish St Leger winner (Timeform rated Champion stayer), Irish Derby winner, the unbeaten in 9 races Italian Derby winner, unbeaten in 4 races that year and never beaten by a French horse French Guineas winner, the Ormonde and Hardwick Stakes winner well behind. The Hardwick winner alone had just beaten the Arc 3rd and the St Leger winner easily.
Also he was drawn in stall 1 and had to race throughout up to 4 horses wide, he had to quicken at least twice the first time to get in behind Parnell where he took a pull, and it was on rain softened PLUS he got within 3 tenths of Mill Reef's course record set the year before and BG was carrying 14lbs more. He stayed alright.

And lets not forget this was his 5th race in 9 weeks. He had just won the Prince of Wales at Royal Ascot in course record time by 5 lengths giving 19lbs to the Irish Derby winner and the Eclipse in desperately heavy ground.

It is not in my nature to insult anyone but when someone insults me it is tempting to respond. It not something I do and I should learn that only morons insult others and thet really are best just ignored. They are no benefit to anyone even themselves. The type of people who threaten others and continue to insult others really only show themselves up for what they are. They add nothing to the forum, nothing to life and nothing to their own self esteem. Instead of getting into the gutter with them I will in future just pity them and understand that they cannot help it. Their lives must be really sad and deprived and they only understand abuse and insult. My sincere condolences to you Motley.

You have on numerous occasions reverted to insulting people, yet you continue to post as if
you haven't ever insulted anyone, you really do seem a confused individual. You display all the character traits of
someone with advanced ocd. I don't require your condolences, as I'm not experiencing pain from
death or misfortune, what you need to do is apologize for your unprovoked insults.

This little man is in self denial, and hypocritical, as the contents of this
thread will bear out. He appears incapable of an apology, his numerous posts
on the brigadier thread display a fixation, that his opinion is right, when you
contest his views, a relentless rant follows. He then launches in to a vile
personal insult, refuses to retract it, and then retires from the forum in a strop.
He then reappears as if nothing happened, and reverts to type. You need some help fella

The ruling of Mac Solomon 99Wink

motley...Brigust has no need to apologize you you , you indulged in a calculated verbal mugging, if you pull a monkey by the tail then do not be surprised if the monkey  turns  with bare teeth to bite you in the face ,Brigust  may simply want to withdraw the remarks,  this should be enough for you as you meant to attack  and humiliate  there is no doubt about that

Brigust ...why would  MR  Mellish not wear  with pride a tie given to him  H Cecil  , they are about the same age  I for one would  gladly wear such a tie and would not be shy about  telling the tale  of how i came to have it my possession , did the tie not send the beautiful
eyes of lydia  a rolling ...don't be so po faced

Mac I don't need a judge, I expressed a view on another thread that he appeared clueless. He then replied "i was a fcukin moron,
a clueless c00nt, (which I suppose is not too bad, as a c00nt is a useful thingLaugh and someone he would not piss on
if i caught fire".This little stubborn man needs to grow a pair of ba-ls and retract his comments and apologise. If he doesn't
I will rip him to fcuking shreds.

Mac I was speaking metaphorically about the tie. Of course he should wear it with pride, I would. But, as I said, it was a reference to Cecil training Frankel and SM talking about Frankel and SM wearing one of the ties HAC gave to him. A metaphorical figure of speech. I actually like SM and Lydia I was just annoyed at him saying I was blind.

I have reached an accord with Brigust on the basis that life is just too short.

However his blinkered and stubborn obsession with BG basically closes this thread off as any kind of genuine debating environment.

If it ain't BG it don't count.

And btw Frankel would have beaten the Brig over 6/8/10 and probably 12f in my opinion.

You are indeed welcome to your opinion Mac although I disagree with you.

And can I say to Motley I am sorry I insulted him. This forum is bigger than me and I do not want to spoil everyone else's pleasure with a drawn about session of abuses. It would be wrong of me to watch someone fester over something I have said even if it was in retaliation to what was originally said to me. It is a great pity this forum is annonymous and allows these things to happen so as I said earlier I withdraw my insults to Motley and apologise for any upset they may have caused.

Hip I don't think my views are blinkered at all. I have almost never said I thought BG would beat Frankel and ,like JM, I think it would be close. But all I am doing is relaying form information for anyone who doesn't know what BG's achievements were. You have all seen Frankel and the races he has run and the opposition he has met. I hope with any of the information I have posted it will help you and anyone else make a decision based on facts and not just the the huge hype machine of the racing channels and racing media. If you don't want to read it because you are so determined Frankel is the best ever then that is up to you. But if you do read it and still think Frankel is the best ever then at least your decision will be formed by looking at all of the facts on the table.

I may be fairly alone on this forum with my knowledge of BG because he is my favourite racehorse but there are many who think Frankel is not the greatest racehorse ever. Howard Wright of the RP said on TV on Tuesday that he thought Sea Bird 11 was the greatest he had seen and I wholeheartedly agree with him. Sea Bird 11 was indeed something else.
By:
HipPriest
When: 03 Aug 12 12:17
Tony Morris thought that aswell UNTIL he saw Frankel.

I don't care for others opinions I have two (reasonably working) eyes. I think Tony Morris is a better judge than Howard Wright but I think I am the best judge I have ever seen that's why I don't read tipsters , don't listen to trainers and ignore anything other than my own interpretation of events.

What's important is what you think and you have very informed opinions which i respect. Its just that you are evangelical to the point of nausea on this subject.

GL today btw.

When: 03 Aug 12 12:31
Its all about opinions and nobody is ever going to be proved right or wrong in this debate, but the original point about Mellish calling people blind if they didnt think Frankel was the greatest ever, is a ridiculous statement to make.
By:
brigust1
When: 03 Aug 12 12:33
You are probably correct Hip I am pretty enthusiatic about BG. But from my point of view you have to consider that there are 10 times as many threads about Frankel and maybe I think it has reached a point of nausea.
And GL to you too.
