he was ridiculed all afternoon by other bookmakers , robert peak in particular.
the regular punters now have his measure at beverley but the casuals will still be conned. i spoke to a few before i priced up race 1 . not a single one knew what 1/8th meant when i pointed to it on his board |
By:
shameful behaviour ..punters need to be protected from he likes of that....
By:
Well done Robert Peak.I remember someone complaing that Robert had ripped him off at Market Rasen as he had only given him 1/4 odds each way,and his pal had got 1/5 odds with Regit. The mind boggles.
By:
Not long now until a punter has his joint over imo. He makes us all look like con men.
By:
Wonder how Beverley feel about their punters having their trousers pulled down? Can't help them to attract punters to the racecourse can it?
By:
yes wasnot , but what about this 1/3rd odds offer.
is there hope amongst the confusion |
By:
beverley racecourse don't care . they've as good as said so. the public get no support from them
By:
He had to do something adge. He can't be worse terms all the time or everyone would call him a thief. This way he can say that he does better place terms than others in some races. Let me guess, the race in question was about 140% in the place book at 1/4 so he still has a good % at 1/3rd? If he was shouting it sounds like he's getting rattled.
By:
was certainly rattled today. even started explaining the 1/8th sign in race 1 to punters giving him blank looks.
By:
Can't belong before he (jocky) gets really rattled by a punters fist.Hopefully he will change tactics before this occurs.
By:
Does anyone know if jocky reads this forum ? If so he must attend each meeting with trepidation.
By:
just to let you know mr wilson is doing nothing wrong until the rules are changed,so please can we have no more threads about this man i thank you
By:
Somebody should chin the fcuker
By:
That's one approach motley - how about another involving someone printing off the threads about jocky and droping them into his hod ?
By:
ethically , he is doing a lot wrong , dr atkins.
he was given a rough time at beverley today and lashed out by going 1/3rd odds on a race what he was doing was made clear and obvious to the public , he won't be looking forward to his next trip to the north |
By:
nearly correct agde he couldnt resist going 1/5 th 1-2 in race 6 !!
wassie weve told beverley there is a problem for the ineperienced racegoer ,they dont care apparently Dr as pointed out he is doing plenty wrong ,and as people dont seem to be able to read signs ,they need to be informed |
By:
he is next out at chester for friday and saturday in the centre.
anyone going be warned |
By:
dr.atkins...Jimmy Carr was "doing nothing wrong",but he at least has apologised and promised to mend his ways
By:
so if tescos sell bread at 1.20 and m.s sell bread at 1.80 and people pay 1.80 from m.s what are m.s doing wrong nothing and bookmakers betting to 165per cent on the rails down the bottom at ascot they are doing nothing wrong and if punters take 1/6 odds thats there fault not mr wilson, and bookmakers should play with there own money not other peoples and should only have one pick in each ring and not be greedy fckers
By:
does the squire firm ever bet to the proper ew terms anymore
By:
at windsor on monday night i see barry dennis was allowed to bet in a marquee nobody else was asked i am told plenty of money kept out of the ring do the agt have no power or is it because its bazzer they turn a blind eye whatever next christ we are such a weak body of people
By:
windsor tatts was fcked once they let bookmakers bet around the back
By:
dr monday was a different situation
By:
ringlets the only thing jimmy carr did wrong was to be caught
By:
why dont you just put on your sign that " 1/5 is better than 1/8 , with an example to £1 e/w at 16/1 showing payouts at each fraction "
By:
but jack wilson wouldn't be 16/1 rcing he would be 17/1
£10 each way at 16/1 [ 1/5th odds ] £10 each way at 17/1 [ 1/8th odds ] anybody know which is best when a/ winner and b/ placed ?? 95% of course punters vote 17/1 but are they right with one , both or none ? |
By:
adage, a sign that says
£10 e/w at 16 ( 1/5 ) = x ammount £10 e/w at 16 ( 1/8 ) = x ammount thats what i meant |
By:
well mr wilson will not be able to fleece the public at the two concert fixtures at newbury
By:
more than 12 hours and not one sharp mind could answer
£10 each way at 16/1 [ 1/5th ] gets £212 if it wins or £42 if placed £10 each way at 17/1 [ 1/8th ] gets £211.25p if it wins or only £31.25p if placed the whole business plan is based on the greed of punters thinking that 17/1 is bigger than 16/1 which in the case of jack wilson it isn't. but they don't know when they are being conned |
By:
dr ac cs ff bh ks are almost as bad
By:
Why is this Jack Wilson being singled out, there are probably another dozen who work to these terms?
The racecourses don't care (They are use to people getting ripped off e.g. prices of beer, bottle of water, cheeseburgers), the gambling commission don't care, the agt are powerless. The reality is that people like him are a nightmare to work next to as opposed being a huge turn off for the public - who most accept don't even realise the difference in the terms. |

16 Runner Hcap yesterday at Carlisle, 2 books went 1/6 odds...answers on a postcard to claim your crackerjack pencil
By:
easy that springer,BDH x2.do you want my adress to send the pencil.
By:
If the flimper books are going 16/1 @ 1/5th, then Wilson won't be 17/1, more like 25/1 @ 1/8th.
By:
As someone who virtually never bets each way his win prices are good for me.

The racecourses don't care (They are use to people getting ripped off e.g. prices of beer, bottle of water, cheeseburgers), the gambling commission don't care, the agt are powerless.
The racecourses get a percentage of turnover from these outlets, that's why they charge so much (the prices are agreed by the racecourse) Ascot for instance charges 25 %. Therefore a £5 burger costs approximately £1.50 to produce (most racecourse caterers work to 70% GP) £1.25 straight to the racecourse, then the caterers have to pay for the VAT element which is 83p ,staff wages, gas, depreciation on any kitchen equipment they use, burger boxes, sauces, napkins, staff uniforms, transport for the staff to site, rubbish bags, linen, cleaning materials and so on. There isn't a huge amount left, and as the same as bookies they operate some days at a loss. If bookies were the same you would have to bet to 150% or more as a starting point. |

Good point, I was aware the racecourse take a slice. It doesnt change the fact that racecourses are bothered about the punter paying £2.50 for a 10p bottle of water, as you suggest they actually encourage it. |
By:
Probably about 45p for the water to be fair. The prices are agreed between caterers and racecourses and are usually increased on an annual basis. Newbury for instance has for the last 6-7 years has had in-house caterers which means it can offer better value for money than say, Ascot who use Sodexo, a multi billion pound French caterer. All the jockey club courses use another catering giant, Compass.
