Canford Cliff suffered a leg injury in that race (which is why he hung so badly) and was retired shortly afterwards.  Ned's donkey would have trounced him that day.

Canford was well beaten when it sustained the injusry , which if it did it was done trying to keep up with frankel
which it could not do , and look at the time compared to the time canford beat rip and goldikova in ?

Frankel looked so good that day , cruised along in front and took off , no horse alive could have got near that day

Frankel has nothing to touch him over a mile and never did , which is more impressive when you think its more suited by further , once in a lifetime animal

The only race I can remember him going off a true line was the 2,000 Guineas and that was slight hang in the last few strides, not halfway across the track like at Goodwood with a furlong to go.

Anyway the point is you can't judge relative merits on the Goodwood race.

canford cliffs imo didn't put in his best that day. it was a slow pace and cc was

struggling 4 out. he drifted across the track at newbury and got beat by the mighty

**** turpin who we know was inferior to canford. canford got beat 5 lemgths by

frankel which puts cc 1 length in front of his stablemate dubawi gold (2nd in

frankel's guineas) and hannon would phsl if you said cc was a length better than dg

He went across to the rail on his first run,and he went that way in other races. When maximum pressure was applied he went left.FACT.

he won at ascot an easy 6 lengths, never under pressure
if you cc's true running was at goodwood, then you have to say **** turpin was a better horse than cc.
do you?

No of course not.  I'm just saying Canford Cliff didn't run his race at Goodwood.
By:

When: 13 Jun 12 21:06
he didn't. slow run first 4 furlongs and he was off the bridle coming down hill
not feasible he ran his race.
underrated is cc imo. wish he hadn't finished his career on such a low

Horse races in this country don't have proper sectional timing that's why opinions differ so much.

You lot defending Frankel and all you can come up with is Canford Cliffs ffs. Just about says it all. You have nothing. It's all smok a f u c k ing mirrors.

There was no actual Canford Cliff injury, the horse just started hanging when under pressure, just as he had done when beaten in previous races.

The post race comments after finishing 2nd in the Greeham were:

Led, driven, quickened 3 lengths clear and edged left over 1f out, hung left inside final furlong, headed and no extra near finish

and when 3rd in the Guineas were:

Held up, pulled hard, headway over 1f out, ridden and hung right inside final furlong, no extra towards finish

So basically can win on the bridle and stay straight enough but hangs when put under pressure to go and win the race.

They did a bone scan and they claim there was a "bit of a shadow" on it and they retired the horse "because his connections feared he might be at risk of a serious leg injury" and did Hughes dismount after the race? Bear in mind too that Coolmore had bought the horse and after Hannon's best he had trained in 40 years had been broken by Frankel from the front, they knew their 5 Gr1 wins on the spin horse would never beat Frankel so packed him off to stud.

And yet he hosed up at Royal Ascot by 6 lengths and still ducked left to the rail
It was his style of running. He wasn't under pressure
He ducked to his left at Newbury, i saw the race. He got beat by **** Turpin
He ran under par that day, the same as he did against Frankel
Are you saying **** turpin wwas better than Canford Cliffs
Why was he struggling at such a slow pace at Goodwood??

Is that all you lot have got? A dubious decision in a suspect race. Frankel is a 4 year old ffs and apparently rated best in the world and could be rated best ever by Timeform. Talk about rubbish.

Like I said earlier. The horses that finished 2nd to Excelebration when he won and finished 3rd when Excelebration was beaten by Frankel have run 72 times winning 3 minor handicaps and a maiden.
When Excelebration won the German 2000 Gns the 2nd that day has never won in loads of starts.

I'm not saying Frankel is not the best of his generation, by some way, but the whole form lines are really suspect.

Canford Cliffs ducked left when winning 6L at Ascot mainly due to running away from the whip but even so, you can still argue that a horse can drift off of a true line when put under pressure by the jockey to quicken, regardless of the end result or winning or losing distance.

In the Sussex Stakes Canford Cliffs was still cruising with 3f to go but by the 2f was being ridden and under pressure and it was from then on that the horse started to drift. Whatever criteria the Racing Post use for times it had that year's Sussex Stakes as slow by 0.47secs and considering the pace was fairly steady until the final 2½f, that shows how much Frankel must have quickened and put CC under pressure to make up the time in the final quarter of the race.

D1ck Turpin beat Canford Cliffs in both the Greehman and Guineas so maybe was a better horse at the stage of their careers but Canford Cliff improved passed him later on with maybe a combination also of them finding the key to how best the horse should be ridden. It was a similar story with Henerythenavigator and Raven's Pass where as the season when on the placings began to be reversed.
