It is obvious from the forum, who are the main watchers of the channel(not me,too dear), that they strongly disapprove of the presenters ,as the object is watching live racing, not listening to personal opinions.I very much agree with this.Watching the horses in the paddock, cantering down, and then the race is what it is all about.Shows on the screen,no verbals needed.
Do away with the pundits, thereby greatly reducing costs, comments can be made from the studio,as Chapman does, when necessary on the non subscription channel.
If RUK had a survey asking if the pundits were wanted,or no pundits and a reduced subscription, the response would be very interesting.

It is supposedly a dedicated channel broadcasting to ardent followers of racing, who I am sure don't want a pundit advising them what to back or lay.It is not watched by the general public who may,or may not, need some form of guidance.

If it's "too dear" for you,Unbiased..............then how on earth are you qualified to comment on whether or not there is enough coverage of the paddock/going to start etc ?

unbiased, sending the signal to the studio basically adds a significant delay to the pictures, it has to be on everyones wish list to get pictures to our screens (or computers) in under 1 second, which is possible but NOT with pundits

"sending the signal to the studio basically adds a significant delay to the pictures"

I'm no technocrat but that sounds total nonsense to me.Plain

Care to explain ?

This 'service' is free on betfair, so god knows why you would pay for it.

Prefer to watch from the comfort of my armchair rather than huddled over a computer screen.

For a fiver a week it makes sense to me. HTH.

sadly for them not everybody is a mug.

i'm no expert either fb, but it takes time for signals to travel from the track to your tv, the quickest (by satellite) would be one bounce (to satellite and then to your house) but if you have to send them to the ruk studio first and then to the customer it takes 2 bounces so the delay is doubled at least

How any fan of racing complains about paying a fiver a week for RUK is beyond. Five quid a week FFS,go watch the motor racing or something
By:
flyingbolt
When: 10 Jun 12 16:01
So I'm a mug because I want to watch the racing in comfort and think for less than £5 a week it's worth it.

I see.

ATR is free, why on earth would you pay to watch a few other courses as well? Flying Bolt has been RUK's only fan for years now, so no surprises there.

To answer your question flyingbolt,it is NOTHING to do with what I can afford,it is to do with value.I can afford to pay £5 for a pint, but don't wish to.Ask yourself if it was half price would they cover themselves with double the subscribers.Remember your£20/month is paying for all the nattering, which is the subject of this thread.
Somebody has got mixeded up with what I said about the studio, that was for after race comments etc.,not to do with the pictures.Obviously the quicker we receive the pics.,the better for all.Not advocating any delays,no way.

I would be willing to pay a fiver a week not to have to listen to those w*nkers.

My Pc is hooked up to 32in flat screen ad I have a nice chair to sit on so 0p a day is better than .65p a day

A few other courses ?

33 including all the good ones bar Ascot.Laugh.
If I was "their only fan" I think they would have gone under long ago . Don't you ?
As for ATR being "free"......zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Unbiased.
The picture comment wasn't directed at you.
My question still remains though. If you don't receive RUK how are you qualified to comment on it's content ?

Flyingbolt, there was a period when Virgin's tie up with ESPN allowed viewers access to RUK,plus I have a mate who subscribes, but also detests with a vengeance all the punditry, and can't understand why he has to pay,but because he is a pro gambler, needs the channel.Again not a question of affording it,just a question of why pay.

I get all of the races free on Betfair and have endured the w*nkers who live off your fiver a week, if it was my choice I would not contribute to the living of other useless feckless benefit scroungers, you however have a choice and that makes you a mug. You have been defending them for years on here, WHAT IS YOUR ANGLE?

I would like the pundits to get stuck in when needs be but if they don't then that is a side issue, as long as i see the pictures then that is pretty much all i care about, watching it on betfair doesn't help when you're trying to play in-running and besides the LV is as abut as reliable as a chocolate tea-pot,my need to watch the ruk pictures outweighs any principles i may have by about a million to one.

I don't see how anyone paying for a service that they are happy with is a mug. Don't people remember life before 2 dedicated racing channels and a betting exchange?
By:

When: 10 Jun 12 16:28
Yes we do,but ask yourself why one is sub. free, and the other sees fit to charge £20/month.That does not make any sense at all.

My "angle" is that I'm old enough to remember when televised racing was the ITV 7 and 3 races on Grandstand on Saturday.

For me being able to watch every race run in UK or Ireland is bliss. If it means putting up with a bit of chat thats fine with me. Personally I like listening to people talking about racing even if I think they are plonkers.

Hope this goes some way to explaining my "angle".

65p a day and so called fans of racing quibble about the price of RUK. Totally pathetic..........65p a day PMSL

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

65p a day to listen to steedman and nevison talk about custard and rice pudding.

65p a day to listen to steedman talk about getting champagne from hanagan.

65p a day to hear about high 5's with jockeys...

65p a day and never once has anyone heard tom o'ryan have a pop at a jockey.

fed up listening to garbage most of the time (see above).

the pundits on there all seem to be omni-employed so they don't need my 65p a day tbh...

i'm not angry flyingbolt.

just don't like listening to some of the garbage spouted on RUK at times.

ATR is equally as bad btw...
