beverley was ok but nothing better than was expected [ no shortage of bookmakers ]
the results were a bigger problem |
By:
bath got the results they must still be counting it
By:
Decent turn out of bookies at Bath, approx 15 in tatts, 8 on rails and about 5 in the centre of course, although centre of course looked very quiet in terms of punters.
By:
I did better at Warwick this year than last.
By:
those who bet at newmarket sunday could have spent today counting it rather than going out in the rain

Replaced the money done in on the Rowley Mile on Saturday theresome.

Bath trade very very poor, but not as bad as Fontwell on Friday, crowd down due to weather, at least 5 books left tatts before last today
By:
2 left from the front line (as well as several from the back lines) before the end at Newmarket on Sunday. Business poor.
By:
the best meeting on this day by a distance was doncaster but when it closed for redevelopment arena transferred it to windsor and have since left it there and given doncaster yet another saturday night which is never well attended.
By:
The last two Saturdays at Doncaster have been very poorly attended, business looked to be pathetic at the last meeting.

beg to differ with the above comments r e n'market at the w'end i think adge will agree . 1094 tickets sat 769 sunday [sunday rained non stop from 315 onwards].biggest dissappointment at the w'end was to see adge burgling on the places 1/5th the odds on the 18 runner handicap !
By:
I'll guarantee that adge was bigger odds than those betting 1/4 odds and burgling on the win prices.
By:
not sure about that what i can confirm is that on the said race i was CORRECT place terms and the place book was no where near overbroke [ 112%].anyway my above comments were tongue in cheek and don't want another row over place terms just feel the place terms are abused by certain bookies at times to my horror i learnt that several bookies were betting a 1/5th on the grand national surely that is indefensable for what it is worth i handed my gold flag back in and only EVER bet what i consider to be the correct place terms on every race i have ever bet on in my life .
By:
AS A RULE(BUT NOT IN ALL CASES)U WILL TEND TO FIND THE BOOKMAKERS(COMMISSION AGENTS)THAT DO NOT BET TO TRADITIONAL PLACE TERMS TEND TO HAVE BETFAIR UMBRELLAS ABOVE THEIR JOINTS(JUST HAVE A LOOK NEXT TIME YOUR OUT)THEN HAVE THE CHEEK TO COME ON THESE FORUMS TO COMPLAIN THAT THE TAKE IS DOWN,U COULDNT WRITE IT

factsmachine i tend to agree with your above post it belies belief to see bookies advertising the oppostion on their mush ! i was given a mush by this firm and the other exchange gave them both away which was a mistake cos they are now doing the rounds at all the tracks with my f****ng name on them !

By:
i lost 1379 on that race , flash , including over 300 on places.
myself , geoff banks and others are currently attacking racing for change on their facebook page regarding the gold flag scheme ,demanding their action together with individual racecourses on better publicity etc etc i warned the beverley facebook friends about jack wilson yesterday but they took my [ and robert peaks ] postings down citing libel possibilities |
By:
anyone else , punters especially , want to join that debate on facebook please do as it will ruffle their feathers better than sending letters
By:
Where do we post on facebook adge?
By:
you have to sign up , wasnot. at facebook .com
then add facebook "friends ". i find it quite useful as all the racecourses have pages you ask to become a friend with. they always post news and up to the minute going reports, inspection news etc. mind you , one or two could be "unfriending " me shortly |
By:
adge i think you know me well enough to know i am not having a pop at you , what makes my blood boil is the so called bookmakers who reguarly cheat/abuse the place terms. when there is no need to adjust the terms in there favour ! i handed my gold flag in when "our leaders had the terms altered to suit themselves" which i did not agree too !
By:
thats nice wasnot acusing people who bet 1/4 1234 of burgling
By:
Bath pathetic left after 3
79 bets Floor take on race 2 £24 Front line pitch Bet next to 1/6th odd merchant 13/1 13/5 14/5 30/1 u name it Stayed dry mind :) |
By:
adge,i/5 the odds an 18 runner handicap? whether you won or lost there can be no excuse for betting to worse ew odds than traditional tattersal terms and then have the effrontery to critisise other books.
By:
i bet 1/5th on ALL handicaps of 16 to 21 runners which gives a freedom to offer bigger prices than betting offices.
that seems to work as the public like it. all races 22 runners or more i bet to 1/4 odds |
By:
Here we go again mmm. 20/1 @ 1/5th odds or 16/1 @ 1/4. Which would you say was better value?
By:
Chief apologist wasnot signs in defending the very thing that scunners the punters.

By:
16/1 @ 1/4, every time!
If you're a bookmaker! ![]() |

Only 5/16 books in the first bet traditional terms
The fav unshipped on the way to the start And looked a potential non runner Reducing the runners from 8 down to 7 Are the 1/6 odds merchants obliged to still pay 3 places |
By:
bookmakers can do what they want in that situation nobody cares there are no morals anymore just look at the gr and the rc punishments it has become a farce just look at all these silly names popping up on bookmakers names we are a laughing stock very little honour or pride left

2 proposals for change september 2012, tattersalls pitches minimum 10K purchase price, daily pitch fee £500.
goodbye bank holiday & hobby bookmakers. |
By:
agree with half of what you say but not everybody who wants to go full time could get the backing others got anyway why does it bother you now you have retired
By:
flash bookie, you'd need to bet to about 160% on the win book to achieve 112% on the place in an 18 runner hcap going 1/4, 1234 !!!
By:
i didn't look at the prices flash offered , ian , but at 1/5th i bet to arround 107%.
maybe that was the reason that after betting next to me on saturday he went as far away as he could on sunday. actually , flash bookie took 40 more bets than me on his above figures....they all seemed to be on the last race winner though. |
By:
Barry would be fine cos he got a backer, he would then hope to take more money to arb back on here, he cannot arb as much as the part time bookmakers he quotes are taking some of the ever dwindling turnover..... not sure how the idea fits in with the idea of healthy competition and free trade
