OF THE TRACKS I ATTEND,£200 MAX BET AND U CANT TAKE A PRICE,WELCOME TO THE FUTURE.
By:
What tracks facts?I can rattle of loads that I go to,or are you still living in the past when they didn't used to lay prices at the meeting they were at.
By:
why would it matter anyway when the prices outside are bigger.
the betting shops only display the lowest price available from the front line and rails bookmakers |
By:
Adge - you got an update re JCR?
By:
about a week ago we were told a press release would be made today
By:
You have to be joking! This myth about bigger prices, nearly all boards are the same price!
I fully appreciate that things are tough now for the oncourse layer, who is prepared to stand out in all weathers, however things have changed greatly over the last few years, and will never go back to how they were.It is progress, and may not suit all,but it is happening in many industries. |
By:
You will nearly always be able to get a better price in the ring than in the shops. Sometimes you won't have to look far to find it, other times it might be on the second/third lines but as Adge says, it's there
By:
on course will come back all swings and rounabouts, when the hobby/ not serious books have decieded to move away it will leave a stronger market for those left
By:
at Newmarket on guineas day i attempted to have £200 on 3 different horses in 3 different races with 3 different bookmakers. bookie 1, "i was just about to change it." bookie 2 "you cant have anything" bookie 3 when showing 9/4 "its 2/1"
By:
if a bookmaker sticks his neck out he is jumped on by his fellow bookmakers who then lays it on the exchanges to make 5p
By:
unbiased you seem to know everything about betting shops (oncourse) and u say getting on is no problem , my pal placed 2x25 fcasts on the dogs (lost() then tried to place tyhe same bet on the next race and was told he could have the fcasts for 5s
By:
Haven't a scooby about the dogs,as I never back dogs.Anyway we were discussing backing of horses!
By:
nobby ,
sorry to hear you didn't bet with me on saturday unbiased, as my day was ruined with stratford being abandoned i spent the afternoon watching chester and commenting on here. i was surprised at the sp of 9.5/1 for the chester cup winner but more surprised that each way betting on here [ win + place ] was below 1/5th odds and for 2 runners worse than 1/6th odds. clearly very poor value on here compared to the on course boys |
By:
adge, when will you accept that there is NOT an each way market on here, and place betting is a separate entity?
An absolutely pointless excercise. Many players are backing horses place only and doing very well,as they are not having to lay out win money. You know it is not a straight comparison. |
By:
i know , unbiased , i was just outlining what poor value the place element was when it is compared to the chester cup
and as i have told you before you CAN bet place only on course with myself and a number of others , so yes you can make a straight comparison |
By:
lmfao do people from this forum just go out of there way to find bookmakers who wont lay bets ?
By:
yes jimnast they do.
By:
you actualy said no problem getting a bet on in the oncourse shops.horses /dogs/ footy / or nything for that matter, the advertise prices and getting more than 5 quid on shouldnt be decided by what sport you want to bet on.

By:
jimnast i see youve been giving fontwell the swerve, i dont blame you last friday was useless as it was 20 quid to get in to see the band THE REAL DEAL who the fksheard of em.newmarket will have van morrison tom jones and fonter wanna charge 20 quifd to see a group of blikes whose mother wouldnt recognise them. fontwell was the track going forward 18 months ago now its firmly in reverse.

The Open Course enclosure will be closed tomorrow due to water logging.
The Goat Walk will be open. A decision for the Friday fixture will be made on Thursday. |

sickoflayingwinners
i decided 2 years ago to give that friday night fixture a swerve, but as last year was the day of the royal wedding i gave it one more go,i do agree with you about the course was going forward and it now seems to have stalled, still love the place though and will be going more in the proper jump season. good luck |

Correct, and it's not exactly hard to spot who will take those bets - adge had a sign up on his pitch at Newmarket! |
By:
strangely , it proved popular with the £2 punters on sunday , dr gonzo.
popular bet when there is an odds on favourite which is understandable don't bother about unbiased as he seems to live in a time warp , thinking course bookmaking is as it was years ago |

Have things improved since 2012 ?

bookies both oncourse and high street get on my t!t$, moan like crazy about 1/4 odds 16 runner handicaps but more more than happy to accommodate 1/4 odds EW's on 7 and 15 runner races.
By:
if only punters would bet each way on 7 runner races ..they do seem to love each way on those 8 runner maidens with a couple of 100/1 shots for some reason though

Are you 'in position' yet for the Open adge ? If you see what I mean ?
