Strawberry you talk sense one min absolute bollocks the next.
Odds compilers and traders are my enemy not fellow punters . . . even tho sum layers on here are fooking nuts i m o. |

The bottom line Grimmy is that there is no such animal as a bookmaker amongst the big boys.........they have been nothing but accountants for at least 2 decades. As Rease points out there are ways and means to extract cash from the mongrels but it is little help to an average punter.
Skinto would lay a bigger bet than $3.65 as would most on course books.I have to use between 8 and 12 putting on on a daily basis and the average account lasts about 2 weeks before a new wife/girlfriend/friend of theirs has to be recruited..........and the individual stakes are always kept under a ton. ![]() |

There is not even an argument. The facts are...
Bookmakers have over the last couple of years closed down all winning accounts.(and those of losers with the potential to win !)I believe that this all stemmed from the success of Bet£3.65 who closed down winners from day one of their existence.Once their competitors realised that nothing was being done about it (in law or in the media) then they followed the same route. With the lucrative FOBTs in place then those with shops have no need to take a real bet anyway. Now we can argue all day but those are the facts.Anyone who comes on here praising the actions of any of the firms is either deluded,a plant or a loser.A once proud industry has been reduced to taking money under false pretenses i.e letting people believe that they can win.Once there is a greater realisation of this perhaps the younger, more savvy generation will turn their backs on gambling and send the management of these firms to where they belong - in the gutter. |

sparrow..Surely there is no "big three." For years I had winning phone accounts with the larger Bookmakers...

TIGR if there are no losers there can be no winners.
The bookmakers only have funds to pay winners if there are losers to compensate for this therefore my aim is to be better than all other punters. They are my competition not the bookmakers. If every punter was too good there would be no bookmakers therefore if you are to make it pay you need plenty of serial losers around. Of course your problem then is getting on however that is a better state of affairs than there being no bookmakers at all. Your relative position vs other punters is everything unless the bookmakers have other income streams which they are happy to use to subsidise winning punters which of course is not the case. |

By:
homefortea, with regard to bookmakers, you must be better than me. I have only made a small profit since I came on here but found it very difficult before. Personally I never use bookmakers.

strawberryface..If you cannot get a bet on then what does it matter how everybody else does....As regards the shops the till has the FOBT,Rapido, lottery, and all the rest of the mug money to pay out winners.

By:
homeforyerdinner,
what about firms that havent got rapido, fobts, 49s - how do they survive iyo? your entrenched ignorance and old school betting shop fodder mentality is all that prevails on this rancid forum. |

sparrow..I cannot win on Betfair !! The only thing keeping me going on here was £125 on a 20/1 aw winner a month ago,Chris Smalling scoring at 90 for Man Utd earlier in the season and a flukey bet on an 800/1 Irish horse pre-race last Autumn !!
I win when I can back horses each-way.Unfortunately there is little liquidity on the place market on here early doors so although you can usually get a better win price, when you are backing longer priced horses in big field handicaps you cannot get the value in the place. This is especially true in 16-20 runner handicaps when the layers are afraid of non-runners and still having to pay out 4 places. You need the larger place price because (obviously) your horse is more likely to finish in the frame than win !! |

'they ll naw lay an egg' - yet they are the biggest sportsbook in the world.
'how kin thae be winnin if they ll naw lay me two boab on the derby' - because horse racing is a backwater.' 'hill willnae lay me ataw' - yet they are a company that are investing hundreds of millions in sportsbook development. you lot collectively are a mere 'era' in the development in gambling. too entrenched to brace the future, but close enough to use the current state of play as a tool to moan and relate to a bygone age. |
|
By:
corbiewood..I would suspect that they have similar "games" on their internet sites !!
For them to survive I would also suggest that they employ people who can trade rather than have a link to the Betfair price which is easily manipulated in a weak market allowing a few shrewd punters to become even richer !! I am searching for what that is called....ah Bookmaking !! |
