90%+ of account holders couldn't care less as they know their betting activities are such that they will never get restricted.
Despite what many on here will have you believe most punters simply want to continue their punting without it costing them too much. Modest losses that are comparable to other hobbies will do them fine. There is a misconception that all losses are considered unacceptable by punters. If someone does £50 a week but gets huge amount of enjoyment and uses up a significant portion of their leisure time with it is it any worse than a couple of rounds of golf every week? |
|
By:
I agree with that up to a point, but losing=failure and i don't think many like that.
|
|
By:
I suppose it depends on what you consider as losing. Few past times are free so a better comparison might be how many consider that their losses are good value.
There can't be many hobbies where every pound spent is considered as a pound lost. |

why would a betfair customer want to use bet365.....
|
|
By:
SM try BOG, better place prices, more places ,prices when there is no liquidity on here ,quite a few reasons actually ,also no commision no premium charge !!
|
|
By:
@Strawberryface -- That is a good point: moderate losers are simply buying enjoyment.
And not all winners are restricted. I'm not (famous last words!) so either I am not winning enough to make it worth their while, or I'm not an arber or a putter-onner. Credit is also due to Bet365 for not running to the press with details of the Henderson groom who had it off at Cheltenham. |
|
By:
great offers with 365, specially the c4 races offer, i really miss those with my restrictions, and also the £ 50 offers on football matches im not allowed those, but many ways theyre better than betfair if youre not restricted/ closed etc

Starwberry face = works in the bookmaking industry.
Anyone that can bet with this horrible firm, either has a great record of not winning, or is a very small stakes punter. There's nothing else... |
|
By:
I don't.
|

As has been said on here many times before. If bookmakers want to be outlets for people to just give them their money and think it is fair and within the terms of their government awarded licences,to then refuse to give punters any chance to get their loses back.Lets have the truth out in the open, that you are only allowed to lose. The new generation of punters would laugh at this rip off and come straight to here or other exchanges. This new generation are all computer literate and would easily find alternatives to this loser only con.
Of course the only way it will be exposed is by the non racing media or punters organising a voice themselves. The racing media are a lazy corrupted travesty of their profession. |
|
By:
the new generation of punters dont want anything to do with racing.
the betfair forum allows any idiot to platform views without proper research or knowledge. That soap box your standing on toronto is about to cave.... |
|
By:
defo . . . . im inn next time scumbags
![]() |
|
By:
So with your bookmakers(ar sewipe)research and knowledge, please point me to your evidence that a new generation of punters would not want anything to do with well run non corrupted racing.Or are you the idiot here,on your bookmakers anti racing soap box,of course you want to ignore racing this would allow you to concentrate on just stealing from punters on the FOBTS.
The sure way for racing to become a dead sport is to allow it to be run for the benefit of the bookmaking industry,as is increasingly happening ie All weather.Just look what bookmakers did to greyhound racing when they took control. |

i used to respect your side of things but your now a laughing stock mate . . . you talk bollocks hth. |
|
By:
just balance your over weight noggin over to the numerous financial results available of the major bookmakers throughout the world my prehistoric chum. racing a mere backwater.
To be so blinkered and cling onto the FOBT argument like an anti christ only weakens your one dimensional argument. |

and also torronno,
why would the very exchange remote based platform that you are posting on be throwing money at a fixed odds sportsbook to try and compete with these firms that you claim are at risk of being left out by the 'new generatio' (LOL). your argument is nonsense. |
|
By:
corbiewood...I've been successfully punting horses for 30 years and throughout that time it has always been said that the younger generation are not interested in racing.Truth is that it has always been an older persons game and peoples interest peaks when they settle down after their single years.
As regards bet£3.65 with their computer systems they can identify not only all winners but also people who are losing and are POTENTIAL winners and restrict them all to pennies. They can then claim that they have so many active accounts when the time comes to either float or sell the Company. Anyone praising the awful firm is either a loser, a liar or a plant. Wainthrop I am up for your suggestion but we will have to wait for next year now !! |
|
By:
I remember Steve Christ and mike Watchmaker say the same things when they 1st went racing that everyone seemed old, and its stayed that way
![]() There is a mix and one US track improved their turnover by targeting older patrons |
|
By:
Corb as i said where is there any evidence from a non bookmaking source of a new generation of punters not being able to be attracted to a non corrupted racing product. No surprise it is becoming a backwater when any young punter who goes into a bookmakers now,can see the lowlifes and compulsives the bookmakers have succeeded in filling their shops with.Bookmakers have deliberately ignored racing and concentrated on exploiting the poor and vulnerable with their new government licence to steal on the FOBTs.Yes racing will now always be a distant second to football but well run it could still be a major betting outlet. It does not help that racing on TV is very poor and now broadcast for the benefit of your bosses not punters.
Not blinkered about FOBTs just stating the facts, that they are destroying tens of thousands of peoples and their families lives and no doubt responsible for many suicides. You earn your dirty money off the back of this misery Corb...does that feel good or do you have no shame left! Sorry G missed that one could you put it up in a coded thread...cheers |
|
By:
your posting on a thread about a firm that have no fobts.
|
|
By:
and your also posting on a remote based betting platform who s biggest growth area is casino - and who target clients with strategic advertising at key points of the day / media.
as i said your argument is ridiculous as it is blinkered. |

you would get a job as a strapline ed with the mail. |
|
By:
Not defending everything that happens on here but they do not dominate every High Street(esp poor areas)with shop windows enticing people in to get free samples of their drug.Nor do they stop ordinary punters who get ahead or punters who have lost for years then get on a good run from betting.
PS the original point of this post was your bosses,we will only take bets from people guaranteed to lose and lose regular, scam. This does not just apply to racing as your post implies but to all betting including football. |
|
By:
you know as much about me as you do the gambling industry.
|
|
By:
Corb as i have said before your grasp of even the most basic arguments in politics is laughable.
No Corb the Mail is perceived to be a right wing paper...so let me try to put this as simply as possible. As a right wing paper they would be on the side of big business(ie your bosses)not the ordinary working man being robbed. Now if you had said it would have made a good strapline for the Guardian or Independent it would have at least made some sense.Stick to your bookmaker fed propaganda Corb, you might come over as an unprincipled a rsewipe but at least you have people with some intelligence to move your lips. |
|
By:
again your argument is just ridiculous, online turnover dwarfs high street turnover and would show a deeper more entrenched social demographic than any inner city LBO would have.
ill be interested to garner your blinkered and obsessive opinions when betfair launch there fixed odds sportsbook. You are out of your depth on every point you convey. |
|
By:
this gets better....
what do you see yourself as toronto? Some crusader for the greater good? yet you snipe ill informed nonsense on a gambling forum. Priceless. |
