Duncan, ended a few points in profit. Highlight was Ivanov winning at about 25-1 after hitting 1000 in-running. We'll not mention the many lowlights

Just a bit of fun, btw, we can safely assume no-one will be getting rich from this thread.

Cheers George...i remember it being an interesting thread, partly for the variation in what different people consider eyecatchers...anything you're particularly looking out for this term/on its reappearance?

Early season, Duncan, Mawaqeet, who caught my eye on its 3rd run. A Dynaformer / Trempolino cross, who over a trip too sharp, still looked a bit clueless but still ran on well for 3rd, clear on his side of the track.
Wondered if Stoutey may aim him for that 10f handicap at the Craven meeting. Plenty of others, just wait and see where they turn up. |

4.00 Catterick - Zaffy 3pts win @ 3-1 bog
Filly with a bit of scope who was backed to make a winning debut last May but blew the break before taking the eye with how strongly she finished off. Similar story next time. Obvious concern about her being slowly away again round here, this being her 3rd run for a mark, and the apparent support for her (now gelded) stablemate. However, stable appear to be striking form, she's not badly drawn, and at 3-1 in this race, I'm happy to take the chance she will be ready to roll and fulfil that debut promise. |

Btw, not all these notebook horses will be late headway monkeys.

We're not worrying about banks just yet, xmoneyx. If I blow 100 points, I'll send the following note to my financial backer -
Notebook system going extremely well, please send more funds... |

3rd run for a mark today, will no doubt be looking for handicaps. Something like low 60s/high 50s would be workable.
Suggest you monitor you P/L on these in the To Be Placed market. This one was 2.09 BSP to be placed. following with interest |

More late headway there. Willo just texted -
Beware late headway monkeys. I'll not remove her just yet from my notebook, particularly as the sire's progeny have a better record on a sounder surface, but was on her toes beforehand and was rearing in the stalls, so slight reservations about her demeanour. 7.20 Dundalk - Sparkling View, 2pts win @ 7-4 bog
Another relative shortie, and she did finish behind 2 of today's opposition 12 days ago over c/d, but I did think she was the one to take from the race as she was always in behind horses up the straight and ultimately under a sympathetic ride was just nudged out, yet wasn't far behind at the finish. Another having her 3rd run for a mark, is drawn on the outside (though hopefully won't matter too much in a smallish field), and who knows if Galway is the plan - so just the 3 points. |
|
By:
*3 points - as said in the last sentence
|
|
By:
Well backed and disappointing given she was well positioned. I won't give up her on yet as she clearly needs a longer trip / turf given the way she's plugged on at the one pace.
A poor start to this particular project but a long way to go yet. Running total - Early price / ISP -6 Betfair SP -6 |

kingG1111, sunday bess is a she btw....would you be prepared to share your reasons for why this is a lump-on job? fair play if not. cheers.

By:
yeah duncan i know shes a she and shes a beautiful she aswell ;) i done my balls on it last year, come second pretty much everytime and always thought it should have won, one time it run against solar spirit which and had it beaten until she basically stopped running and gave the race away, last run she was pretty much tailed off but it was because she didnt like blinkers. all shes needed is a decent break from racing to get fresh and i can guarantee you it will win first time out this year. she gets backed every single time she runs because the owner and trainer know her potential

Today's notebook pin jobs at Folkey
1. Mayo Lad 2pts win @ 6-1 generally, bog Half-brother to Canford Cliffs who raced keenly in his 3 races last season, including in maidens behind Most Improved and Bonfire on softish ground. Added to the notebook after his third start for a mark, where he was noted tanking along towards the outer and was still bang there 2 out before his exertions started to take their toll in the ground. Looks to have bit of size about him and can only have strengthened up through the winter, the drop back in trip could suit, and Moore rides for the first time. Note about the draw: Middle draw not normally ideal on the straight course, but hard to say the usual stands' rail bias was still in place at the last meeting. 2. 5.05 O Ma Lad 1pt win @ 11-1 bog Always out the back of the telly on his reappearance 19 days ago - jockey reported the gelding reported moved poorly throughout and the vet found him to be lame. The fact he's reappearing within 3 weeks would suggest (hopefully) it was nothing too serious. OML was added to the notebook on his last start last season when on just his 6th start and first at the trip, he was unfortunate to run into the progressive Hot Spice, with the first 3 clear of the rest (3rd horse ran well yesterday). Unexposed at the trip and a with a positive jockey booking, he gets a vote at a double-figure price. |

3. Farmers Hill 1pt win @ 14-1 generally + bog
Was added to the notebook 4 runs back at Kempton when despite a disadvantageous wide trip, he stayed on stoutly into 3rd. However, he hasn't come anywhere near that form in 3 starts since, and the hope is another try on turf and slightly more patient tactics can restore him back to the form of that 3rd place, when surely he would have finished closer to Mayan Flight with a kinder trip. |

O Ma Lad a NR
Bet 3 - My Name Is Sam, 5.55 Wolver, 1 pt EW @ 12-1 general, bog I'm giving MNIS another chance at 6f because on his handicap debut over 5f it looked as if the trip would suit, then he wasn't beaten far over 6f at Kempton, and 2 starts back I thought he did well to finish so close given he appeared to set an overly fast pace. Disappointed lto, but Egan takes a 7lb off and the headgear goes on. So optimistic of a better run. |

*just noticed he's actually 14-1 with Vic C, bog

Another day of woe at Notebook Towers with both selections trading short IR but not delivering. Thought briefly Mayo Lad was going to get our first win on the board but it wasn't to be, and I thought My Name Is Sam was worth another try at 6f but not sent from the front like that. Surprised he traded about evens for a few quid.

First up today is Intercept, 1 pt EW @ 13-2, bog
Caught the eye on his reappearance / 4th start and first run since being gelded, when after being drawn and racing a little wide, he still appeared to be green (if it was greeness rather than some temperament issue) when asked to close on the leaders over 1f out, but his finishing effort was quite taking as he closed strongly on the leaders close home. Obviously this is a competitive heat with a few interesting contenders - not many will have missed how unlucky Global Village was at Donny, while Gouray Girl on her 1st start for HC caught my eye and would have been the selection at the 14s in the paper! But Intercept is still unexposed and there looked as if there would be more to come at Kempton, so gets the vote. |
