Funny thing I knew stacks of the Guys mentioned on here some when
I lived in Stoke Newington were guys I came across every day in The Imperial Sporting Club which was situated in a back lane alongside Stoke Newington Railway Station, it was owned by Joe Coral and run on his behalf by his ex partner in the bookmaking business Jack Baron. For donkeys years Joe would turn up for his whack every Wednesday but always finished giving most of it away to hard up members in forms of loans. The whiteson brothers all worked for Joe one way or another as agents or the like taking bets copping 18 pence in the pound commission, What days they were. ![]() ![]() |

The mad dog man you tell him that his oldest mate who lives in the North East is
asking about him. When he tells you a bit about me you will be surprised, I know he has had a hard time with Doll for a good while but she wont let anyone help, what can you do. Have you know Dickie for a long time? Good luck. |

Were you ever in one of those razor gangs that used to go to the racecourses, wee eck ?

Alain, I knew a few of the ones that operated as bookies but all that type of
stuff with the Raddies and the Birmingham mob went on between the Wars and as old as I am I am not that old. I knew many gangsters but myself was never a member or part of a gang. The turf wars were really mostly to do with PTP pitches. Hope this helps. |
|
By:
If I have Alain it wont be for a patch of the time you have done rumour has
it you were a lifer. |

By:
My Lord the fights were over guys who wanted to get pitches fighting
for them. The forming of the BPA helped to bring it under control. |
|
