inono, if Veroon had won could I have claimed it twice
![]() I run a racing club in work and we go to Haydock or Chester, because most of the lads are not into racing the vote is always now Chester. I must admit I love Chester for the overall day out but Haydock is brilliant for both flat and jumps. Good luck with your lays.. MASTER MELODY is another that has won for me on here three weeks ago tonight and has had two battling victories over this trip and also over 1m 4f here at Dundalk. Has gone up another 4lbs with young Greg taking off the 10lbs again. One or two handicapped for the better now but if young Halpin can get him near the front again the hat-trick looks a good prospect..

KAKAGH is re-united with Barry Geraghty who returns to the Emerald Isle for his only ride of the day when he could be lying on the couch watching Columbo. Geraghty gave this bay gelding a great ride when winning the Wilderness chase at Clonmel which has produced previous winners such as Irish National winner Hear The Echo, Glenfinn Captain and Vic Venturi.
While KAKAGH is probably not in their class he looks up to winning a race of this nature after finding the Troytown chase too far and too hot in November. At 8yrs old I'm hoping he has a touch more speed at the business end than a few of the old-timers and he comes out well in the RPR and TS figures to back that up.. |

Ouch. Bet Geraghty wishes he was watching Columbo.

FLAMING FERRARI is Jimmy Fortune's only ride of the day and split Dicky Mint and Sweet Ovation over CD on handicap debut 17 days ago, down 3lbs for that she should have the beating of those two this time. Those two rivals were 11/4 and 13/2 while FF was 12/1 that day so with that in mind a good run might be anticipated with this filly motoring home for boy racer Fortune..
MARIA'S ROCK is a very lightly raced 10yr old mare who is a winner of two chases off 78 and 85 both times for this jockey and is only 1lb above the last win in March last year. Wins have come after long breaks but she ran a decent race in better company after the last win when raised to 88 for a different jockey so a good run looks likely for this course winner who has also won here off today's mark of 86.. |

KAVEGIRL 7/2 Folkstone 3-30 5pts

Probably the biggest steamer of the year so far runs in the 3-30 Folkstone in the shape of Mallin Head who has moved from 18's into 3/1 in places and I should imagine that trainer Bob Buckler and connections have been practicing their book of explainations all morning in case this gelding returns to the winning line with his bay head tucked snugly into his chest. The better ground forecast and first time in a handicap looks to have got The Strictly Come Racing owners excited and they must have no finger nails left after four inspections.
I'm hoping they might have to wait for another day with my fancy KAVEGIRL spoiling the party, yet to win but her debut over fences was encouraging and it looks her time could be near dropping from an opening mark of 92 over hurdles to today's 84. The paper favourite Tavalu looks a good bet on paper but had a very hard race 7 days ago and never seems to perform as good the next time after winning while Pete The Feat runs off the same mark as winning this race last year but was then in the form of his life and would prefer it softer.. |
