155%, is this a theoretical margin of less than 1.5 % (1.375 me thinks)per runner? If someone had to price up on a football match would you squeal at 105%, on the boat race would you object to 103%, surely 1.375 % per runner is not outlandish even if this was a true figure ....most on-course boys will have been 14's the winner so as so many have stated its the s.p. system that is flawed not the on-course boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Lads customers were apparently steered towards the mark sense slips, where I am told there is no option to take a price. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on the latter point.

Hey?? your ob not him then.

You wrote a chex for 73k to the ex owner of misaro, i know it, the real b d knows it, It was 73 because there was a r 4 on it.

i know its rgt because we helped he get the money on, so your the one bigging yourself up.

Here's all you need to know about Gary Wiltshire, as quoted in the Racing Post: "It is all right saying the winner paid more on the exchanges but don't forget Betfair's market is win-only, and on the Grand National most punters want to play each-way."

Now, if Betfair is win-only, as Mr Wiltshire claims, how come my son had £20 in the Betfair place market on State Of Play which finished third? Is third not a place?

How much longer do we have to put up with these so-called loveable**ney geezers? If it's not** it's Wiltshire and if it's not Wiltshire it's Greeg Wallace off Masterchef. Cor blimey guv, you're a bleeding toff an no mistake, do what, leave it aht, do me a favour etc, etc, etc...

What was Betfair's place market then? Someting to make the interface look more pretty?

Still dont know ..WAS THE SP RETURNED DURING THE RACE OR AFTER?
If before:-
Would this thread exist is Black Apalachi (2nd) had won at SP 14/1 against BF 16.5?
Or if Big Fella Thanks (4th) won at SP 10/1 BF 10.3/1 ?
Or if the outsiders from 50's had been offered on the books closer to their true chances, giving an overround of 1% per runner ???

If this was a**after the race by shortening the winner ridiculously, dont you think theyd have massaged it just a little bit more on the non placers so that the overround didnt stand out?

155%? profiteering?? what a laugh. I don't see anyone complaining when Harrods mark something up by 400%! Whatever, if on course laying was that good, rings wouldn't be empty
By:

When: 12 Apr 10 11:20
sadly , sports advisor , on course books don't lay bets at sp...so we didn't have that 155% overround

FACTS
"At a gaff track during a slow week day - you will still see punters taking a price on a horse - which is priced higher on the boards either side of the bookmaker they're betting with ! A lot of punters are clueless - bless 'em. Now, multiply this factor by 000's - and you have GN day. To Diddles point, punters are betting their money - totally oblivious as to whether the price they're being given is higher, lower, correct or otherwise'

Being an arguementitive Oldgit I always take issue with Bookies offering a 1/5th when it should be 1/4 odds.
And as for ones trying it on with 1/6 or even 1/7 odds...
One firm Allen Caldwell of Recar come to Plumpton on Bank Holidays and Ladies Day when there is a big crowd. He has a a big enough sign on his board saying 1/6 odds a place in all races. I asked him once how he gets away with it and why anyone bets with him. He said they are all stupid and think that 1/6th is more than 1/5th.
At that time he had the second Fav at 3'sin a seven horse race when all the rest had 7/2. and people were still having their two quid EW way him.

i don't pretend to know who or how the late GN SP moves were effected. But such dubious market activity / reporting should be investigated. Clearly something appears wrong with the returned SPs for this race.

TBF 19 horses were returned at better than worst morning prices according to RP. I don't think the oncourse independants are behind this SP muddle, but a muddle it remains.

Imo,
Diddles, the proper on- course bookies, and Hal and any shop bookies, are all making good points.

My long held view is that SP is bollix and nothing to do with the real Ring.

As some have pointed out, the interesting mystery is who let the cat out of the bag about an hour before the race?

As usual, the media didn't seem to have a clue; neither did the "sharp brains" of the unlicensed layers on btfr.

I'm starting to think that btfr pay people like pythia and some of the other comedians to come on here and spout anti-racing **e.

Btw, I'm fk all to do with any bkmakr and never have been - unlike some of the most anti-book on here, who, from what they tell us, use to run a shop in the past.
I'd begin to wonder wtf happened to make them so bitterly anti-book? Did they get the elbow for arbing on here in working hours or something?

MY BOOK....dont push it..opened 20/ at 10.30 a.m...remained at 20/1 until 3.45 p.m.when lowered to 16/1...again lowered to 14/1 just three minutes before the off. I TOOK TWO SMALL BETS AT 14/1 and that was my, and it seems 95% of books price at the off.

Are you saying the SP is** Are you saying the off course books are bribing the SP Regulator?

Even if you can prove 95% of on course books were 14/1 at the off, theres still no-one interested in defending the rights of the punters. The GC / BHA are totally inept at investigating these claims

And they wonder why racing is in TERMINAL decline

its a fact that most on-course punters place there bets before 1.00 ...........gimme a break what a load of bull shizt
