Kris Kin beats Alamshar who goes on to win the Irish Derby next defeating the odds on Dhalakani. Think what you are saying before you come out with utter twaddle.
|
|
By:
Alamshar then wins a King George with an arc second Sulemani in second and with horses like Kris Kin in 3rd and Falbrav and Nayef further down the field. You really couldn't make it up.
|

Is there negative news on Eydon? I thought he looked good winning The Fielden and then 4th in the 2000G was also a very good run yet I can get 36 on here.
|
|
By:
I suppose it depends what comparisons your making with past winners try your best. The 2 horses mentioned won weak derbys on figures and were average winners no matter how you cut it.
What I will say though is the past years since workforce won have been littered with average winners the exception being adayar and golden horn in my book. We were treated before that to some high class winners. Sinndar, Galileo, authorised, high chaparral and new approach to name a few. |

Harry, seems someone thinks Dragon Dancer was actually better than the later form Dylan Thomas showed. Unusual for an O'Brien groupie ![]() |
|
By:
6 Group 1 wins, arc winners, prix du jockey club winners, Irish champion stakes winners Juddmonte International winners King George Winners and Leger winners where you could look at collateral form lines. I knew you were thick and this just confirms it. You know naff all about racing. Novice personified.

Caught out again FiggASS. You know why? You're lazy with your throwaway comments.

And just think what The Great Gatsby could've achieved later if trained by Oxx instead of that mug AOB

As much as this years race lacks any top class horses I think it will be a good betting heat. The one I can’t get an angle on, is this Chester vase winner. Just cannot pin point the lengths he nicked
. Time is hard to figure out but don’t think it was bad. He nags me as can’t put a number on the race with conviction |
|
By:
I suppose you think Golden Fleece was a donkey as well because he only beat the St Leger winner Touching Wood. You have no answers to anything FiggASS. The form lines from Sir Percy's and Kris Kin's Derby's were probably a couple of the best in recent times and I have demonstrated just how little you know.
|
|
By:
you would expect horses to improve after the derby - the weight-for-age scale assumes this. i think Kris Kin is an example of one that didn't - Sir Percy's injury makes it hard to say one way or another.
|
|
By:
A_T, there were some really good horses in both races, better than in some other Derbys for sure. There have been worse horses win the Derby than Sir Percy. He wasn't the worst Dewhurst winner and his Guineas second was better a better performance than some horses put up when winning at Epsom (Wings Of Eagles, ROTW). I just don't rate that actual Derby highly, with DT improving to be a much better horse later.
|
|
By:
What one race later when DT wins the Irish Derby. He must have been half decent at Epsom a couple of weeks earlier.

Yes and what a performance Third Realm must've put up in last year's LDT. J effing C

You are lazy 6 bags of sugar and you could be putting people away on here with your stupid comments. You never put anything up, mention the entire field and when you get it wrong as is the norm you try to qualify it with some random comment you made about the eventual winner. Speaking of Qualify (yes I did back it at 100/1 in the Oaks).
|
|
By:
You really don't want to put your tipping record on here against mine. It would be highly embarrassing for you.

Oh I get it wrong many many times, just like every punter I've known (winner or loser), and I'm still here. I haven't had a Derby bet this year but if I do I will put it up, and if it loses I will be responsible. Just as I was responsible for overrating Native Trail for the Guineas. I mean I've had worse bets than a 6/4 shot being beaten 3/4 of a length and I'm sure I'll have much worse this season. Nevertheless it was still a poor error on my part.
Now bullsh1tters, they're a different breed, as they rarely lose and are very fond of an aftertime (especially 100/1 shots). They also have a habit of declaring a horse a shoe in for a race like the Derby, such as Saxon Warrior for example, scoffing at the idea of Roaring Lion ever overturning the form with him, then vacating the thread sharpish and never to return. I look forward to the same here if your idol's horses are stuffed ![]() |
|
By:
Are you saying I didn't back Qualify? Do you want to put some money on the table if I can prove it? Please take me up on it. I will match any amount you want. Do you also want me to put up the treble of Key Victory, Symbolization and Saxon Warrior on Guineas day or the 100/1 Wings of Victory derby win. I may get it wrong sometimes as well but blimey not to the extent you do. You haven't a clue what I'm backing or not backing in the Derby and have no allegiance to any stable. I just want to win. A word that is totally alien to you. So how much do you want to put on the table or are you going to prove that you are the biggest bottle merchant and bullsh!tter on here.

Try My Best, as difficult as it may be for one as insecure as you to believe, I don't want anything from you, or give a flying one what you back or what you think. Now go and wave that tiny appendage in someone else's face, thank you

I thought he’d already backed Luxembourg. Unless I’m reading it wrong? |

I'm hoping TMB will give us his tip before the race - much more helpful than afterwards

You are a fool and a chancer FigASS. Shown up for what you are. You've had worse 6/4 shots beaten 3/4 length I think you said. Bloody hell you must be bad because when you take into account the 6 bags of sugar you felt NT could carry extra and win the 2000G that is the equivalent of the nag being beaten about another 12 lengths. Great tipping.

Shame when this forum turns into a "I am better than you at naming the odd group 1 winner".
Better when people give their opinions and respect others opinions. No wonder so many people have left the chats. |

Desert Crown looks fitish!!!

The last one who looked super "fittish" is having to miss his main engagement ie Derby. I hope the same does not befall Desert Crown.

Looks good. A 2-horse race then in 23 days' time.

Desert Crown looks a worthy favourite to me. Good time - much faster than the older fillies race earlier. By Nathaniel so a guaranteed stayer. The second has 2000 Guineas form. Can't really see any negatives.

Sir Stoute is sweet on him now. Is he the Derby winner? Will be beat the O'Brien battalion?

The Derby looks a much more entertaining prospect now.

How many favourites have there been?

By:
Pete, I've laid them all, each to bigger amounts as I became more (or over) confident: Point Lonsdale was the first: People were backing him at a single figure price after Royal Ascot with 11 months to go! Then Reach for the Moon also went into single figures after his Sandown win after ITV said how nice it would be for the queen to win the Derby in Jubilee year. He got close to Point Lonsdale in the betting, but I don't think he quite got to be favourite. Then Luxembourg who I got matched at 4.0 in December and 3.35 on 5th May. New London was briefly made favourite when the Lux doubt arose, but got turned over within an hour and went straight out of contention. Walk of Stars went into single figures, but I don't think he quite got to favouritsm. Changingoftheguard was a short lived favourite until Stone Age won the Leopardstown Derby Trial. And now we have Desert Crown.
I make that 6, but I could be wrong and I am only going by Betfair's market. I am well into the red with Desert Crown and to a lesser extent Stone Age, but after final decs there are always moves for outsiders. So things may not be so bad on the day. On the plus side I have laid 22 horses at average odds of shorter than 20 which must be a record for me! |
|
By:
desert crown certainly looked a class above at Yorvik today and is a worthy favourite based on how he may progress from the run . el Bodegan showed how far behind the French colts are again and whilst stone age ran on nicely in that race it puts him a stone behind desert crown . Stone age will have more experience and a tricky track to counter the class deficit , as well as improving himself . walk of stars whom I thought the likely winner has drifted alarmingly to 34.0 this could be because of the dante reaction , but , you wouldn't expect that kind of price from a Appleby horse .My assessment is a strong market move on whom really comes forward after these trials will be significant as the favourites are beatable . Anyhow wrestle with the conundrum not each other , may the force be with you !
|
|
By:
I wasn't convince that Bodegan gave its running today.
For me Marksman I admire the strategy which makes a lot of sense but I couldn't take my dosh being tied up for so long. Good luck though. |
|
By:
'gpz6316', I think Walk Of Stars will walk away with your money.
Desert Crown won well but, how good were the others? The runner-up is fairly mediocre; El Bodegon looked a pony compared to the rest; what's the pecking order of Bluegrass in AOB's battalion? |
|
By:
LoyalHoncho, I was disappointed with El Bodegan today. As he is small and hasn't grown, he should have been easy to get fit. I've noticed that that this sort of horse has until Royal Ascot to reclaim their 2yo form and then they get over taken by larger, late developing types. Perhaps it was the quicker going, but other than that I can't see any excuses. Royal Patronage did well on what looked like a slower part of the track, but wouldn't have beaten Desert Crown even if he had been racing close to him.

That's amazing Mark - good laying. I guessed 5 faves, but 6 doesn't surprise me.
All we need now is an unexpected supp to turn it all upside down again :) |
