With no more rain forecast, temps will remain at 15 degrees till midnght, slight drop, back up to 15/16 by 8am, could have 7 hours of 18-21 degree sun beaming down on the track before Derby time. Easily could be pure good ground by then. Mohaafeth on the drift now, could get a really decent price by 7pm. Will be punted back in tomorrow afternoon.
|
|
By:
just read an article on bloodstock page racing post and the breeder of mohaafeth and hurricane lane, reckons the former has no chance on that ground, thats put a dampener on things.
|
|
By:
Yar but I think she's still in autumn/winter mode. This ground is drying right now, its warm and will be very warm come 11am tomorrow. On the other hand, if Mohaafeth falls out the back of the TV on even a slight yield in the ground then he's just not a classy enough animal. Bottomless it aint gonna be.

So AP O Brien is now somehow involved in keeping other horses out and of also manipulating the draw? lol. You seem to have appointed yourself sheriff of the forum. I made no comment about Aidan O'Brien and the draw. You invent positions, distort or misinterpret comments, and then refute them. I responded to a poster who mentioned draw 1 not successful in 19 years, but since the filling of the stalls changed about ten years ago all previous old draw data is of no use. I think it was bad form Ballydoyle keeping a large number of horses in the race they did not intend running any of them. It may have discouraged other owners and trainers from keeping their horses in the race and in training for the race, or routing them elsewhere as they looked like not getting a run. As far as I know the lowest rated horses get balloted out so keeping highly rated horses in the race is not good form. |
|
By:
Just in case you think it is my pocket talking I did not back any of the Aidan O'Brien scratched horses.
I laid Bolshoi Ballet at 3.0, and later backed him at 3.5 for a small profit. |

By:
after a fair few ante post blows on this race mac swinney looks the value to me now hs won 2 grade 1s is tough and is officialy rated 119 2 pound clear of bolshoi b ,might prefer more cut but whos to say he wont go on todays ground? 8/1 each way 4 places billies is the way ive played good luck .

been on about this for years, wish bookmakers would give 2 set of prices antepost price AND nrnbet price as well I think Ante Post betting should become NRNB at least 6 weeks before the race. Bookmakers have had it too good for too long. |
|
By:
all they will do then is squeeze the life out
of the prices. |
|
By:
Didn't want to see all the rain yesterday (on watered ground)???
But I still like Bolshoi to win, ground should be near Gd by race time. Had a bit of the 3.35 on here last wk & a bit more today at 2.82. Gd luck all. |
|
By:
Thanks to some inspired/lucky backing and laying for the last seven months everything is green. Even Bolshoi Ballet gets me over fifty quid and I haven`t had a penny on him. Yes I am smug.

all they will do then is squeeze the life out of the prices. They are already offering day of the race prices months before NRNB |

No firm seem to go out on a limb reguarding maiden winners, especially, mostly all the same quotes. |

first race run a at a good pace was over 5 seconds slower than standard - more soft than good

The Coolmore mafia scratched every horse (6) of theirs except Bolshoi Ballet from the race. No mention of this by ITV Racing instead the success of Galileo (Coolmore) as a sire. Who cares?
|
|
By:
the ITV staff probably get a fee for saying "beautifully bred" every time there's a Coolmore runner

I really haven’t got a lot between all these. I had one ruler near top rated along with bolshoi...John leeper is a lovely type but I’d want better odds to play him in an open heat
hurricane lane is a nice horse who should just go well but I’ve decided to have a little on the rag youth spirit here who I just believe is a dour stayer who will like the ground and is slightly over looked in the market and might just surprise a few, unlike a lot of derbies I haven’t a strong opinion so wish you well |

Impressive winner? Bolshoi Ballet ran out of puff; Mac Swiney still feeling his exertion in the Irish 2000G.

Bolshoi Ballet 7th.

I'm chuffed for Coolmore. Their charge clearly did not stay!!!!!!!!!!
|
|
By:
It doesn't say much for the five horses Ballydoyle withdrew.
|
|
By:
that was some market move in the last 10 minutes
only the thing i got right was easily dismissing mac swiney's chances, didn't win on the race, that was a very good result. |

As High Definition ran Hurricane Lane close at York and looked as though he might pass him over another 2f, and as HL ran well enough although looking again as though 10f might suit better, and given that Bolshoi Ballet looked like he didn't stay (unless something was amiss), I wonder whether Coolmore might be regretting withdrawing High Definiton? He might well have gone close today. It leaves him looking good for the Irish Derby and if Adayar runs at the Curragh, we might eventually find out whether HD is the best 3yr 12f horse at Ballydoyle and might in fact have won today.
In any event, one might conclude that Karma played a part today. |
|
By:
that race at york was the reason i never put HL in any bets, with problems HD had before that race and the way he run that day, looked like he needed the run,
if i was right, HL wasnt going to be good enough to win a derby , talk afterwards was that HD was built like a tank and might not have the tactical speed to win the derby. |
