Morning noc
Aye, he ran well last year. Hoping the genius can get a bit of improvement from him and he has a small weight pull with Eleganst Escape, I spent a bit of time on this race and could not see past these two, maybe Nicholls other runner could improve. I was kicking myself after the KG, kept looking at his price thinking it was way too big, but never pounced. I backed him last season for the GC, has he improved again to maybe win it next year? Interesting. |

Aye....strange look to the handicap, just the three carrying above 11-00st.
For once I think they have the right horse at the top market. That looked another step forward LTO for EE,on ground that looked plenty quick enough. How much the blinkers helped remains to be seen,he is 4lb well in on the figures. The question I have been asking, why stick Cobden on him at Newbury?Knowing Pumpkin would be sending his own horses to the race,it seems odd to use a jockey that would not be riding it today. I have started looking at these marathon races from the right hand side of the race-card last couple seasons, just who on top can stay the trip.Seven claimers on show today, worth their weight in gold if they can remain tidy over these sort distances. Of the outsiders, jonjos would be my idea of a horse that could go on to better things.Decent course form and sound over his obstacles,if junior was aboard he would have been very interesting. As for todays pilot,I find him virtually un-backable,be watching the horse none the less. CDO ......A very good question. He,s a big unit,at times he still looks around him like a complete novice,I,m not convinced we have seen the best of him yet. Pumpkin reckons he did not stay in last years GC,probably fair on balance, but was he the finnished article. If he is a real late deveoper with that big frame to fill,he will be a danger to all. Last years time might be another reason he did not land a blow, just 2 secs outside standard suggests to me it was nearer good ground at HQ,this horse needs cut to produce his best. Put him away until March,on soft ground he would be my idea of the winner this far out, regardless who turns up. |

Soft ground and being fresh would help for sure, needs to step up a bit for me, last seasons GC was not a vintage one imo, but yesterday he was v impressive and arguably better than last years KG. New mark around 175 I would think.

Not quite the final result the thread wanted,Yala played his part in a fine finnish. Outstanding ride for a 7lb claimer on the winner, the claims on the 1st two might have done for us all. Neither of the first two riders looked out of place, far from it. +59.05 k adv -0.5 c eile/shant -0.75 marac +3.67 (8.34) carns -0.5 yala / w app/p rock -1 pott cor +2.80 (12.20) g sun -0.5 +62.27 / 0 IP |

A very late good morning.
Tough as you like at Newbury, those handicaps are running circles around me. Cheers CVB....The run of dis-content is always just around the corner. With the dreaded January approaching, its a time to be cautious judged on previous seasons. Cracking card Leopardstown. GL Today |
