Accie, would you know , off the top of your head , what the conditions are for betting online with the HKIR tote ?

You must have an account online yes? directly into the tote - could you use it if you wanted to use it back in the uk ?

If i flew into Hong Kong and wanted to bet online would i be able to have an account opened...then use it when i fly back home?

Waikuku was impressive HK, some of these Irish horses do well in Hong Kong and it looks like you got a cracking bet at 25-1... now 11-1.

Struggling to find the time at the moment to have a good look at these HK races... I need to sort myself out! Crazy

All the best with your bets tomorrow Roz... last week was a superb punt. Cool

Roz - I’m certain you can’t deposit from overseas as the hkjc accounts are only linked to HK bank accounts. I’m not 100% sure but I don’t think you can even open an account without being resident.

Not bad Mr D but Dark Dream is still the one to beat, interesting that he’s entered in the 4yo mile this weekend, not too sure he’ll be as effective over thie distance as he will be the derby distance so I’ll look for something to beat him if he does run.

I was thinking that

Think you are spot on HK about Dark Dream tomorrow, the Mile looks like it will be on the sharp side for him. The further he goes the better he goes and the Derby is the optimum race for him... looks more of a stayer!

I'm going to forgive Tigre Du Terre's last run (no pace) and he will be the one for me in the Classic Mile. Hopefully I can get a nice EW price tomorrow morning?! I also like Packing Winner at a big price, he ran some decent races last year in France and did OK first up over an inadequate trip at Sha Tin. Tough race this one, with a few likely to improve... guess work which ones will!

I will also have an EW bet on Singapore Sling back over his optimum trip. Wide draw an issue but he has got pretty good gate speed and he gets weight off the big guns. Needs to up his game this season but I think the price will sway me.

It did but was ridden differently to his last run, strange ride by Purton in R5. Have to put it down to one of those things and ignite that ride for his next run where hopefully it reverts back to the previous runs.

This weekend isn’t a great offering either before the new year meeting next Thursday daytime when the betting pools and attendance are huge!

There may be one of interest on the dirt in R8 tomorrow down in grade drawn ok but I’d want a bigger price than the $16 that is currently being shown as it is a bit of a long shot that the move to the dirt will suit. If he’s over $25 by the off time I’ll have a speculative wp bet

Doesn’t look like it’ll be getting near the price it should be, it’s into $8 (The horse is Volpino)!! There must be a few people out there who think the same as me but will back it no matter what!

Roz - Warm The Voice runs again today R9, he’s up to 1800m which should suit, he won well last run so I’m backing him again ew at $12 to repeat.

I see that Accie re Warm the Voice - we have to have a play again dont we :) just a small bet this time for me .

I've been looking at this last race - ive decided to play GOLD QUEST EW at 14/1 coming back to a mile in the 1 gate....  on just his second start in HK

I am not sure whats going on i.e if they think they need to get him down in the ratings in lesser races towards the start of the new season later this year  - but i imagine if that was the plan then they would have been running him much more frequently since he got there in September 2018. Has some interesting form lines back in the uk  which surpass marks near 110 through certain lines  - two starts two wins - looks far to early imo  to be on the downgrade so thats why im speculating today.

Did run as well as could be expected when 2nd behind Glorious Forever in that Barrier trial in early Jan - i'll learn much more today to see where they are with him . Definitely one to follow imo.

He also ran 2nd in a trial to Waikuku. I think Circuit Number Two will be hard to beat in the last, I am interested to see how Epic runs first up, it's a tricky race.

Epic is in that list of mine - ive had a bit of 11/1 too - but just thought that Gold Quest looked a bit more unexposed and that it could have more scope being so lightly raced - if he has improved since that listed win at Newmarket last July over a mile then he could have turned out to be a proper group 2 horse in Europe .

GQ is out of a Aiden o Brien mare called SAY - who has only produced him and one other  which has become a Grade 1 Winner for Chad Brown called FOG OF WAR on the dirt - maybe thats where they might be aiming GQ in the long term i.e the dirt.

This is the thing Accie - we could end up seeing this one in months to come lining up in some class 4 and hosing in off a reduced mark in the low 70s - a proper touch ! lol

R9 tomorrow, having an ew interest in Cool Team at 20-1. Ran well first up so if he does improve a bit for that he could go close. Issue is it’s the c+3 so you generally need to sit no worse than midfield.

Outside of that I’m going R1 no 5 and R6 no 3 in a wp all up and singles.

Massive pools expected with 90k attendance!

That’s a shocker re the flu - we’ve had all kindergartens closed in HK for flu since middle of jan...KR not running (or due to run) until the end of Feb beginning of March anyway. He’s only likely to have 2 more runs this season anyway, so hopefully it will be cleared up by then.

my selections for today -

R8  Happy Family $26-  makes his debut today but has been over there since last August - i just cant ignore that European 6f form - I can pick a few holes in the top ones in the market so i have to play this one at the prices.

R2 Simply Big $31 - has come down 13lb since arriving in HK - his run last time out at the Valley over 1000m was in this grade and he still didn't show- just taking a chance that coming back here to Sha Tin in the same lesser grade brings some improvement back at this 1200m and in the 6 gate .
By:
HKAccie
When: 10 Feb 19 01:49
Good luck Roz, I can see Simply Big improving but I think they are getting the rating down to have a crack on the AWT with him.

R7 I’m against your bet on Happy Family as I think Hinchinlove will win and have made him my mainbet today.

My longer priced selection today is the Moreira ride in the Lucky last, he’s currently at $14 so an ew price, he’ll suit a step up to 1400m

I’m also having a dirt double (wp) R4 No2 and R9 No 10 - only small.

R3 is interesting for the Derby, expect Packing Warrior to go close, you can ignore his run in the mile race as he was part of the interference that Bowman caused
