Is there another trial to come for the fillies other than this one? Just wondering where Lesstalk In Paris may run before the French Guineas.
By:
There's the Prix de la grotte sint, think it's 2nd sunday in april over 1m at longchamp
Zarkava won it one year |
By:
Yes, Lesstalk in Paris is entered in the Prix de la Grotte, the traditional French Guineas trial, over a mile on 13 April, along with Indonesienne, Royalmania and several from the O'Brien yard.

cheers both.

ante-post is a nightmare, just when you think you have got your wee book in order, up pops another contender, I thought Bracelet ran very well yesterday taking some things into consideration, 1st run of the year proving she has trained on, the way she came from behind to win easy, beating a very well regarded filly and also beating Avenue Gabrial who has form with a few leading contenders, so, have to put her in the book as a saver, but hope she doesn't run. cheers.

It always happens with the fillies!

There are 10 confirmed runners for the Prix Imprudence on Thursday. Christophe Lemaire takes over from Olivier Peslier on Vorda. Maxime Guyon rides Miss France.

I can't see this filly being good enough to win, but for those that fancy her

Disappointing from Miss France, i'd say, regardless of short running space. Has to be at least 8/1 now imo.
By:
Pulled hard, gave first run to the front two but you'd have to be disappointed. Fabre will no doubt bring out a lot better from her but major questions to be answered now.
By:
Farce of a race imo.
Turned into a 2f sprint. That will have taken the 1st time out freshness out of Miss France as she pulled like a train off that crawl. Vorda not a miler on that running, had every thing go her way & she still got out gunned close home, she is a sprinter imo. Not an ideal start for Miss France, but will be a different filly over a strong run mile. |
By:
Lad Brokes have gone 7/2 Tapestry now.
![]() |
By:
Took a bit of the 9.6 & 9.4 on her, all being well she will show that running to be all wrong imo. (I hope)

They would sint

By:
Crazy, Miller. I'd wait a bit longer to be sure she still runs.
By:
Only for small ££ sint.
That was a nothing race imo & she was getting into gear when the "race" was over. |
By:
james will keep me right, but I think Special Duty was a bit disappointing in this race, Miss France pulled very hard early but still looked as though she has an engine, but i still feel a bit subdued, mind you it did nothing first time out last year. cheers.
By:
Special Duty was only beaten 1 length and had Group 2yo form. I don't think James has backed Miss France mainly because her odds were too short. He may now though.
By:
I'm sure he has backed her sint - one he has built his book around iirc. Probably already got her at nuggets odds than she is now so no need to go in again?
Not seen the race, is the consensus that Vorda a non stayer? |
By:
Viewed the race a few times now, I don't see Vorda getting much further than 7fs,
Still rate Miss Frances chances for the 1000gns tho. |
By:
I agree, Vorda didn't seem to stay although the pace was farcical, 3 secs. slower than the colts. cheers.

Anyone av quotes after this today?

Not seen any yet. Anything in the RP?

i've just gone through all the videos and form of all the important races from last year. my conclusion is, I haven't got a f-ckin clue what will happen on May 4. I wasn't going to bet ante-post this year, but after watching Kiyoshi win at Ascot i thought this was the fillies equivalent of Frankel. how bloody wrong can you be, this started my book off, next up was a saver on Lucky Krystale, I then was impressed by Ihtimal so put it in as a winner, followed by savers on Tapestry, Sandiva and Rizeena. my book was gradually being overloaded and by this time I thought I was finished, but, lo and behold another what I thought was an impressive display, Miss France, I just had to go in again and make her a winner, as every time I bet a horse it's next run was pretty abysmal. so thinking I was finished, up pops Balansyia and Bracelet, I've just got to bet them as small losers, hoping and praying Miss France does the business in it's trial, only for it to run a shocker, my mind is scrambled at the moment, their must be 15 horses got some sort of chance to win the guineas, I've given up, and will now let fate take it's course.
cheers. |
By:
I forgot to mention My Titania, and also every horse mentioned doubled in price after their next races. cheers

Laddies 7/2 sums everything up. Lump on the 8/1 with Joke and fill your booties.
By:
You mean to say you missed the boat with Bye Bye Birdie, the bairn?
By:
Obviously I didn't see enough from Miss France to make me want to go out and back her but if I was on her at a big price (I'm not) I wouldn't be too downbeat, it was no kind of race and I'd expect her to be fitter next time. If Fabre still chooses to run her at Newmarket I think we can forget the prep. I'm still not sure that Miss France will be good enough to win a typical Guineas but I'd still have her over Tapestry at a similar price.
By:
sankara, i've had a couple of quid on Terrific, so might as well back Bye Bye to complete a total mess. btw. why Bye Bye Birdie. cheers.
By:
Despite Botti saying Al Thakhira will go for the Guineas if the ground isn't firm the betting signals don't look good judging by the extreme prices offered on here, even if it is only for bits and pieces. Maybe it's just some opinion punter taking an extraordinarily negative view of her chance, but as this is a yard with such an obvious inside influence on the betting market I'd say that's highly unlikely.
By:
Oh sorry the bairn, thought you were taking the p*** out of the originial poster, who seems to have deployed a very similar betting strategy to yours.
By:
Rizeena might run at Newbury.
By:
She's entered for the Fred Darling at the mo, Figgis.
By:
no, no, sankara, I think everybody respects james's views on the 1,000 guineas, he put up Miss France as an interesting prospect even before it had run and it went winter fav. only take the pee on the football forum, they are so bigotted over there, it's too easy.
cheers. |
By:
The only bet i've had for this race is Bracelet. I won't be backing anything else. That's it really.

re: Bye Bye Birdie, it's interesting that this one was given the Guineas entry. I don't suppose she'll turn up, but she's still potentially an interesting prospect (if they have managed to sort her out mentally!). She is bred to do well at around a mile but was kept to sprint distances last season. She finally came good (in a first-time visor) in a Group 3 at the Curragh, staying on well to win by 3 lengths from some useful fillies, including Clenor (subsequent winner of three stakes races in America). She disappointed on her final start in the Gr.2 Duchess of Cambridge Stakes behind Lucky Kristale, and on that form has no chance in the Guineas, but if she is able to return to her earlier Curragh form she could yet prove a very nice filly. Anyway, I couldn't resist having a few more quid on her at 500.00+! At this stage, though, I'm hoping that Tapestry is Ballydoyle's principal Guineas filly and that Bracelet (if she runs) does not turn out to be Joseph O'Brien's ride!
I wasn't too disappointed by Miss France's performance at Maisons-Laffitte: she probably needed the race, she was outpaced when they quickened up off a moderate early pace, she didn't get the run of the race and was allowed to come home under hands and heels. She's sure to do much better in a truly run race. On the face of it, the result of the Prix Imprudence failed to eradicate the doubts about Vorda's stamina for the mile of the Guineas, but trainer Philippe Sogorb said afterwards: "It may have looked like she had a good run, but it was not ideal for her as she hit the front much too soon. She likes to run at others rather than the other way around. Her next race will be the 1,000 Guineas." Christophe Lemaire will surely ride her differently at Newmarket and if she stays she's the one they all have to beat. |

Rizeena goes straight to the Guineas - positive news for her imo
By:
RIZEENA will head straight for the Qipco 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket next month with no trial beforehand after her gallop on Tuesday morning left her trainer Clive Brittain dancing with joy. Owned by Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum, Rizeena captured the Queen Mary and Moyglare Stud Stakes last season and also finished second in the Group 1 Fillies' Mile over the 1,000 Guineas course and distance. Brittain had been planning to give Rizeena a Classic tune up in the Group 3 Dubai Duty Free Stakes on Saturday but has decided that there is no need to go to Newbury after Tuesday's performance. The trainer said: "She worked so well this morning that I was doing a little jig afterwards. She doesn't need a trial."

I've just been checking the market and can't remember the last time there were 12 fillies at the top of the market all quoted at 20/1 or less, with nearly four weeks until the big race. Following the defeat of Miss France in the Imprudence, bookmakers took the opportunity to cut Tapestry, Rizeena, Ihtimal, My Titania and Bracelet. Lucky Kristale and Amazing Maria were also trimmed from stand-out prices. Vorda was cut to 10/1 from 14/1 by one firm (Power) but pushed out to 20/1 from 14/1 by another (Coral)! Some of Ladbrokes prices (7/2 Tapestry, 6/1 Rizeena, 6/1 Ihtimal) are a complete joke. Mind you, it's interesting to note that they are taking such a clear position on the Ballydoyle fillies (they are shortest about Tapestry and longest about Bracelet, so they evidently expect Tapestry to be their main runner). Vorda is rated just about the best filly in the race (on official ratings, Racing Post Rating etc) and made an encouraging return in her prep race: she must be the value currently at 20/1.
