Agree that price difference between MI and PH is too big.
However Bolger did say last year that saw PH as more of a Derby horse. Things change obviously but Bolger is one trainer that is not scared of running his horses so I think next week's trial will be to see if he is fast enough to take in the 2000 en route to Epsom. |

Really cant understand the price of Dragon Pulse.
Form stands up to the closest scrutiny having beat Parish Hall & David Livingston comfortably in Futurity. They subsequently win Dewhurst & Beresford defetaing likes of Most Improved/Akeed Mofeed. Was given plenty to do on last outing when beaten by just held off by Power. 110s on hers is way to big Trainer up to the task & can see this trading plenty shorter with a good run in the Prix De La Fontainbleu |

Nephrite matched at 55, must be doubtful starter.

dont worry it was me that matched the 55 i no nothing just tidying my book up

Geoff, I guess people are put off by the fact that DRAGON PULSE is running in the traditional prep race for the French Guineas and therefore assume that he won't be coming over for our Guineas. It's very rare for a Prix de la Fontainebleau runner to travel over to Newmarket. But at around 100 he's way overpriced and perhaps worth a speculative few quid. This year the Prix de la Fontainebleau is nearly three weeks before our Guineas, so it fits in quite nicely as a Guineas prep, compared with the Greenham, which is only two weeks before the Guineas.

Nephrite and Power becoming massive on here,40s+.
Unless injured I'm sure at least 1 will turn up, Camelot not a certainty to run yet. |

add bronterre now matched at 50 and no backers

By:
it they carrying on the support for most improved camelot wont even b favourite and if it wins the craven wat price then its already crazy but they keep punting it 5.2 laid today for plenty
|
|
By:
soon as they announce camelot def runner it will shorten dramatically
|
|
By:
might have lost my money but at those odds worth
backing.Obrien hard stable to read but Lads have had Nephrite @8/1 for a long time. Not exactly queuing up on here to back Camelot either. Power should have won the Dewhurst, only my opinion and he is now 7x the price of MI. GL |

Oxx rules Akeed Mofeed out of 2,000 Guineas
By Racing Post staff 1:44PM 9APR 2012 BACKERS of Akeed Mofeed, who was a mover for the Qipco 2,000 Guineas last week, were dealt a blow on Monday when trainer John Oxx revealed he will miss the race. The colt was as short as 9-1 with Coral for the opening Classic of the season and was Tom Segal's Pricewise selection but having been found slightly lame he will not be heading to Newmarket. Speaking on Monday morning, Oxx said: "Akeed Mofeed took a lame step yesterday and is going to have to have an easy week. "We had been planning to run him in the Guineas Trial at Leopardstown on Sunday, but he won't be running and he will also miss the Guineas as we wanted to run him over a mile before making a decision about Newmarket." Akeed Mofeed is 12-1 second-favourite for the Investec Derby, having been added to that race last week at a cost of £8,000, and Oxx continued: "The plan now, all being well, is to start him off in the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown next month." Akeed Mofeed, a son of Dubawi, won a 7f maiden by five lengths at Leopardstown in September before losing out by half a length to David Livingston when favourite for the Group 2 Juddmonte Beresford Stakes at the Curragh later that month |

Born To Surprise is likely to test his Classic credentials in the Craven Stakes at Newmarket following his impressive performance at Doncaster.
Michael Bell's three-year-old had finished a highly creditable second on his racecourse debut at Warwick last September, and confirmed that promise with a five-length comeback victory on Town Moor. He is a best priced 33-1 for the Qipco 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on May 5, and Bell hopes to learn more about his colt by running him at Headquarters beforehand. "He's a horse I've always really liked and he should have won his maiden last year, but he sat in the stalls and gave them 10 lengths before running on well to finish second," said Bell. "He's come on leaps and bounds from two to three and was very good at Doncaster. "It's obviously a big gulf from a Doncaster maiden to a Pattern race, but I do like him and the Craven Stakes would be his preferred option as it avoids travelling." |

Have I missed some ABTAAL news? Was happily backing away at around 40 after the Djeb but that is no longer possible

French Fifteen bagged three low-key wins at Wissembourg, Chateaubriant and Le Lion d'Angers before registering a first black-type score in the Sept. 5 Listed Criterium de l'Ouest at Craon. He was left trailing in Abtaal's wake when runner-up in the Oct. 6 G3 Prix Thomas Bryon at Saint-Cloud next time, but rebounded in style to register a career high in the Oct. 30 G1 Criterium International back there in his only other go. The eventual winner was settled near the back of the pack in eighth from the break in this sophomore bow. One of the first under pressure when rowed along approaching the final quarter mile, he rolled to the front at the eighth pole, and kept on strongly under sympathetic urging thereafter to safely account for old rival Abtaal. "French Fifteen had been working well this winter, but you need confirmation when they return to the tracetrack, and I'm happy to see that he has retained all of his ability," said trainer Nicolas Clement. "He is the same as last year with a good turn of foot. He idled a little when he hit the front, but still won safely." French Fifteen may renew rivalry with Abtaal at Newmarket, according to trainer Jean-Claude Rouget. "Abtaal need the run very badly. He is the sort that thrives with racing, and I'm certain that he will improve an awful lot from that. I will discuss plans with Sheikh Hamdan's team and, if they are happy with it, I would like to take him to Newmarket for the Guineas."

i agree bjg. any reason born to sea not entered the weekend? straight to newmarket?

Drifting

|

BORN TO SEA goes straight for the Guineas. He's quite fit and forward, so there's no need to run him in a trial.

Everyone going about Camelot for the guineas, but I think the one could win if it runs is Power.
Camelot is only favourite because the way he won the racing post trophy but who did he beat? where Power have already beaten top class horses, plus horses that run well in the dewhurst do much better then the ones in the racing post trophy, and would the dewhurst been 8F Power would have won it,plus at the 2F pole it din't have a clear run,and has the guineas are run over a mile I think Power have a big chance at a big price if O'Brien decides to run him, plus will have top jockey on board Ryan Moore. |
|
By:
think you have made the point clear, travolta. If he runs?!
|
|
By:
Why is Most Improved being backed when He finish behind Power in the DEWHURST STAKES and Power already show that He can beat top class horses, Power is only a big price because everyone think Camelot is the one from O'Brien but if Power runs He can beat Camelot 100%

I know that Power my not run, but Camelot is not a certainty to run yet............

Having already lost out with my anti-p bets in the 2000gns with Dabirsim not coming over & Harbour Watch not going to be ready due to another setback, its a race that already has me on the back foot. The fav Camelot is not a cert to line up in it & looks more a Derby horse & being by Montjeu would be a concern over 1mile in top company, and its also nomally fast ground at the Gns meeting. Hopefully we shall have some word about which way he will go soon.
One of the dark horses of the race could be the Stoute horse Tales of Grimm (had a small bit of the 40s on here last wk) An expensive purchase by Sir Robert Ogden, he won his only start at 2 on the same card as the "hype" horse Top Offer at Newbury last August. I see he has been going well in the gallop reports in the weekender & look forward to seeing him in 1 of the trials if thats the way he goes. In a race that has a lot of ifs & buts about it, Tales of Grimm is in the could be anything gang that i thought was worth a small interest at big odds. |

By:
Agree about TOG. Strangely weak on here given the bullish commments from Barry Simpson the other day. We'll undoutedly find out more next week.
|
|
By:
He is a dark horse and has to be respected.
|
|
By:
I see that Nephrite is entered in the guineas trial at Leopardstown on Sunday, so presumably he is well. Did he drift because he wasn't entered in the derby trial? I've been watching this one as a potential ten to follow horse.

By:
stoute has run 2 first time out colts today, both running well to be 2nd, its unusual for him to get his runners running wellthis early ,so probably a good sign for tog
|
|
By:
Good point, ej. Maybe Stoutey's hungry after what was a moderate season last year and has them forward?
|
|
By:
Were exactly my thoughts^
|
|
By:
TOG may well turn out to be a very good horse - really cannot have his chances being enhanced by his trainer having a couple of placed horses in AW maidens however.
|
|
By:
Most Improved currently fave on here at the moment at 5, Camelot 5.2. Not sure if anyone has already brought this up but when was the last time a May foal won the race? I think it might have been Rodrigo De Triano. Most Improved will be 2 years and 2 days on the day of the race.
|
|
By:
3yrs.

OK, 4/1 is a bit short now so have decided to lay off my bet on Most Improved. Just to tempting to trade given it is still an ante-post market.
