I suppose Cooldine would be interesting on his best form. He'd have a chance off around 11st.

Has Nicholls mentioned anything about Michel Le Bon for this race, as he'd be one I could be interested in?
By:
I don't understand the reluctance to commit Beshabar to this race by the Vaughan team, he is absolutely tailor made for the challenge.
I understand they are keen on the National longer term for the horse however he has all the attributes needed for this race. A big galloping type in the mould of Denman, he really looked the part over fences in his last couple of runs, particularly at Ayr where he jumped like a buck. Newbury looks an ideal track for him and off a mark of 150, he is going to have a cracking weight around 10st 7lb provided one of the top weights stay in which looks likely (suspect Nicholls will keep one of the top two in to keep the weight down for Aiteenthirtythree). With doubts surrounding Weird Al and Time for Rupert, as reported in the RP tonight, Beshabar would be value at 14's antepost if there was a firm committment to run. |
By:
JONCOL into 14's (from 16's) after Thurles today.
By:
Yeah JOCI Nicholls said in the RP stable tour today that both 1833 and Michel le Bon are both intended runners.

Interesting Air Force One, didn't realise he was only rated 128 these days, entered to run in a handicap this weekend, i prosume he'd have to go up 12lbs or so to get a run so he would be fit and worth betting at the weekend. If back to his best a mark of 140 could be quite interesting. Just not a massive fan of the trainer.

Wymott for me @ 16/1
By:
Wayward Prince for me. It looks like the weights will go up 1lb, because I don't think WAF will run, but Neptune will I think. Quinz could also be interesting if he takes his chance.

Yeah JOCI Nicholls said in the RP stable tour today that both 1833 and Michel le Bon are both intended runners. Thanks - interesting news. |
By:
Quinz ran like a dog last time out - may have been spooked by his National run. Didn't go at all. Would need evidence that he's still in love with the game.
By:
Would like to know if Beshabar an intended runner. Could have a chance.
By:
Already on Joncol @ 20s but going to have a few €€€ om Wymott @ 14s carrying only 10-1
By:
Total shot in the dark but i though that Madison Du Berlais ran a better race on his comeback, showed a glimpse of his old self and is now at a dangerous mark, he can be better second and third times out
By:
I must have been watching a different horse to you zilzal. Expected much better from him tbh
By:
He's never set the world alight 1st time out Rod!!, just thought he ran on again after looking he might finish tailed off
By:
He gave me one of my biggest wins when he won the Hennessy (and I know he finished 8th in his prep run for that) but off the mark he had on Saturday I thought he was beaten too soon for me. I read that Pipe thought he could get him back to the top level this season but I'm struggling to see it right now - hope I'm wrong because the horse owes me nothing and would love to see him come back and win something decent
By:
I read somewhere that He's a "Greedy Eater" though and takes a bit of time to get ready, im probably going to give him a couple of chances off this type of mark(hes down another 2lb) as he might pop up at 33-1 plus and it wont cost the earth to find out
He might have gone, but hes still 10 so ill give him a shot |
By:
^ I agree with you zilzal. Have been keeping a quiet eye on him for a while now as Pipe, more than most, can get a big win from his horses when they have dropped to a fair mark after being rated too high.
I suspect MDB is not the horse he was (nowhere near) but I also have a feeling he retains enough ability to win one more good prize when conditions are right. Whether he can win the Hennessy is another question (probably too hit for him now) but at huge prices you are right, he's a cheap back. |
By:
Anyone know what the Pricewise horse is in today's RP?
By:
Forget it. Just looked at the betting on here - must be Michel le Bon
By:
He had two tips, I guess the other one was Planet of Sound, been backed today.

Thanks DT

By:
Anyone know the safety limit for the field size? Thanks.
By:
Petethebloke, safety limit is 24.
By:
Thanks Baz. Did you just know this? I looked all over the place trying to find the info.
By:
I always cut out the big races, especially the handicaps, from the Racing Post, some I keep NOW such as the GRAND NATIONAL to compare weights from year to year.
As I have previously posted I think I am the only person in my town who ACTUALLY reads the conditions for races. I once found a race whereby the trainer could win the race and not pick up a penalty for a big handicap, because it was ONE pound under the stipulated value of race to be penalized. |

Anyone know if Carruthers has been confirmed as on target for this?
6th in last years race off 156,he is now due to run off 143 (actually dropped another 3 lb after the weights were published) For me last years race was a much more classy affair, with Denman top weight and Diamond Harry,Burton Port and Weird Al all running off 10-0. Was quite pleased with Carruthers re-appearance at Cheltenham, where he jumped and travelled well, until possibly blowing up 3 out.If this is the target, imo 25/1 is quite tempting. |
By:
*should read .....now due to run off 146 (is now rated 143).
