joey obrien gets the ride on ATD
shame on ballydoyle |
By:
Await The Dawn (Joseph),
Roderic O Connor (Colm), Windsor Palace (Seamus) |
By:
am astonished that roderic is being run at 1m 2f. This is a Irish guineas winner who has shown no real ability over a longer trip. Not sure that they really needed two pacemakers in there.
By:
Cant believe they have given the ride to Joey ahead of Heffernan who rides Seville earlier on the card.
By:
Joey left the Ascot gold cup behind as he bridled the turn whilst the others had started to get into top speed with momentum. He made a comment after the race to the effect that they didnt go fast enough duhhhh. So why didnt he take up the running...dithered and lacked experience..

By:
That's a scary jockey booking.
We'll just have to ignore the fact he's never ridden a winner for his father in the UK and his figures on 4YO+ horses in Ireland this season are atrocious. |
By:
will drift now,i would expect to see 11/8 on the day
By:
This is a poor field for a good race.
By:
Roderic O'Connor is surely not a pacemaker
By:
Really like him. I think he'll love the track, ground and being able to just bowl along. 25-1 on a Dewhurst runner-up, Criterium International & Irish Gns winner is far too big, especially as the 3yos are cleaning up in these races at the moment..
By:
Yes he is overpriced, not like he is up against Arc or KG Winners here , just regular Group 1 horses
By:
another English all age Group 1 and yet again a woefully small turn out following in the footsteps of The coronation cup, eclipse,King george, and sussex stakes.
Charlton house would surely have had a very good chance if running. Really thought this could have been the race of the year with SYT taking on Frankel. Frankel's connections letting all these summer season GRp 1 races pass them by whilst waiting for his 4 runner race on soft ground in the Autumn. York deserve a better turn out than this, with the prize money put up. Disappointing. |
By:
Connections of FRANKEL are absolutely doing the right thing for the horse, just be patient for another year and you will get your wish

Sorry but cannot give ROC a chance in this. Has run poorly 3 out of 4 times this season and won an awful Irish 2,000. Oracle finished a close up 3rd! I can't see that he has improved a pound from 2 to 3 and can't see him being allowed to bowl along as they have a pacemaker who is likely to try and make it a proper test for ATD.
I backed the Cecil pair last week and give them a great chance against a fav who is far too short for what he has achieved imo. |
By:
Is the Joseph O'Brien thing perhaps down to weights. He's quite tall and struggles to do 9st. Would explain why he's not on ROC or either of the Gt Voltigeur rides
By:
good point - plus Colm rode ATD on his only defeat so perhaps they think he just does n't suit the horse.ROC for me - I can see the arguments against but he's 25/1 and there are plenty of doubts about the other three with a realistic chance.
By:
Irrelevant as he is now a non runner!!!
By:
And that's why ATD was underpriced.
Any odds-against and I would have backed him. ![]() well done TO backers. |
By:
still cant believe Planteur didnt run, why they ran in that unbelievably hot mile race v goldi and co beggars belief,
By:
Cheers Sint!!!
By:
Great racecourse, will return some other time. Would recommend a visit there. Shame about the standard of the Juddmonte the 1st day.
By:
No worse than average standard for the race i'd say E&B.
Small Field disappointing though. |
