Still think Makaamen has a decent race in him, didn't really pan out lto,and he might be a 7f horse,Truism,Tryst and Docofthebay who is very well handicapped at the mo,early look ,makes me think this isn't the strongest renewal ,so may be those at the top of the weights are worth looking at.

Turnip - I'm a big fan of Makaamen too, dropped to 90 now and really well treated. I can't have him for this as I agree with you that 7 is his best trip, I would also like to see him in a smaller field with possibly an easy lead. I know he has won in decent sized fields but just a personal opinion. Think they have placed him terribly this year - if they carry on someone will get a real bargain at the HIT sale in October and inherit a seriously well treated horse!

I really liked Balcarce Nov's last run - off 103 here. Early days though and the draw can make a mockery of the race - so wait and see for me!

Well I followed Truism off the proverbial cliff last year so will be interested in him if the price is realistic - though not sure he will get a run off 87.

Some info off the Cumani website:
http://www.lucacumani.com/news/detailednews.php?start_from=0&ucat=&archive=&subaction=&id=& Posted on 6th May. This weekend our hopes rest with Mabait in the Victoria Cup at Ascot. We had initially intended hanging on until the Hunt Cup to protect his rating but seeing as we also have Acrostic (who runs at York next week) as a possible for that race and this race is worth nearly as much as the Hunt Cup, then seeing as the horse is in such good form (which he might not be in the middle of June) we have decided to run. Stall 16 at least gives us the option of choosing which side we race (and statistics at least show a middle draw is traditionally not a disadvantage) but the task we face is put into perspective by the fact that only one horse with a mark higher than 96 has won the race since 2000. Posted on 13th May. Poor Mabait. By raising his rating to 104 after Sandown, the official handicapper rather forced our hand into running in the Victoria Cup while the horse was so well, but to come from virtually last to first and then get mugged by something finishing fast and late on the other side of the track was hard to take. Missing out narrowly on such a valuable prize whilst getting a further hike up the handicap is like being stabbed in the back twice and the consequence for Mabait is that he will now be forced to take on better animals on possibly unfavourable terms in Listed races for less money than he can currently compete for in handicaps. We could run him in the Hunt Cup and the statistics for horses rated 105 or more that are prominent in the betting are encouraging for this chance in that respect, but he’s only a small horse and would face a tough task conceding weight all round off his new mark of 108. |

In the true style of second strings, i feel that Forte Dei Marmi goes close here, or wins the Cambridgeshire in October, travelled well at York and maybe just didnt see the trip out in that company

Agree ,Zilzal. I thought when he won 1st time out 10f looked about his limit. If they do drop him to a mile I will be very interested.

Reckon 100 for Bangalore Gold is actually quite fair tbh. Doing much his best work at the finish and won with a fair bit more in hand than the 3/4L would suggest imo. An 8 furlong fast run cavalry charge in the Hunt Cup would be right up his street, and of course he has confirmed big field form now
Whether this is a target for him or not is keeping me from going in, but if he comes over, has a massive chance imo |

5 day stage, I guess Leroy.

As posted on another thread I really liked Forte dei Marni's turn of foot today and am pretty surprised (and a bit worried) so many firms have left his price unchanged.

Gold set for trip to Palace
David Marnane is favouring the Buckingham Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot for Bangalore Gold rather than the Hunt Cup. The County Tipperary trainer already has a leading fancy for the big mile handicap in Dandy Boy following his win in the Victoria Cup at the Berkshire course. Bangalore Gold then booked his ticket to the Royal meeting with a smooth success in a handicap at the Curragh. Although that race was over a mile, Marnane believes the Buckingham could suit the Elusive City gelding better. "I was delighted with his win. We were pleased with the way he did it at the Curragh and he's an improving horse," said Marnane. "We have two options for him - the Hunt Cup and the Buckingham. I am swaying towards the latter as I just feel it would be the better option as a strongly-run seven would suit him perfectly." Marnane reports Dandy Boy to be working well ahead of the Hunt Cup, for which he is second-favourite at a top-priced 12-1. "He has trained exceptionally well since he came back from Ascot. He did a piece of work on Saturday that was very good and it's all systems go for the Hunt Cup," he went on. "He's in great order and I'm hoping that he's come on a good bit from Ascot and we're looking forward to getting him back over there." |
