Anyone with a brain cell can quickly work of from GS archive and PP histories that GS readings of

8.09.0 = GODD, SAFE, racing ground
9.010.0 = GOOD, SAFE racing ground

But yet no one questions these COC's about watering below these readings

Try again Empty :(

8.0 to 9.0 = GOOD, SAFE, racing ground
9.0 to 10.0 = GOOD, SAFE, racing ground

Well if he waters at these readings, he must face a penalty for racing on unsafe ground at 10 plus.

cant have it both ways if he feels its unsafe, UNLESS safety isnt the main issue and is just a smokescreen for other issues like inconsistent ground leading to inconsistent results.

Quite a few of us believe this to be the case, and , unless we are proved wrong, watering such as this strengthens our belief that welfare is a red herring.

The information contained in Going Stick archice and PP histories indicates strongly that the majority of irrigation is unnecessary, so the question needs to be asked what are the reasons for the current watering policies at UK racecourses.

WETHERBY - Jump (Updated:14/10/2009 at 11:31)
Going

Good to Firm (Watered)
(GoingStick: 9.4 on Wednesday at 10:00)
Weather

Happy to race on 9.4, although there were problems in the 3-45. Does make you wonder why Prosser is even thinking about watering on 7.7.
By:

When: 14 Oct 09 17:02
As with other PP data. Wetherby today shows that those involved thought the surface was GOOD, SAFE racing ground.
By:

When: 14 Oct 09 17:09
If trainers and owners think it is safe to run thier horses on a surface that has a GS from 9.0 - 10.0, what the hell makes a COC like Buckley, Prosser etc think it is not??

So its safer to run the jumps in the 9s, ie wetherby today on g/f than it is at Newmarket

I've had to put it off
Those two were getting me to mad for words there tonight.
Gibson's never going to be critical of anyone amongst the ranks of trainers & jockeys. He might have the odd mild pop at the BHA who he knows wont say boo back to him, but that'll be it!
McNae saying he's looking forward to Williams coming back to haunt the coverage from Newmarket at the weekend was another low point in HIS broadcasting career
JOHN LENG, nr Redcar, details available fromBetfair upon request. (just in case Angus ;-) )

You missed the last in the series of Nigels Suppers. This imo has sunk to a new level this week, Wetherbys racing two ticks higher than our champions day, despite figures showing that jump racing should be run on easier ground due to injuries.

you really couldnt make it up, no wonder the posts writers run away and dont want to give answers

No further percipitation and no interference from Prosser's hosepipe should give us a reading between 9.0 to 10.0 and GOOD, SAFE, racing ground at Newmarket.

I think some anonymous f***** textd him and said if he puts any more water down then the next time he walks down the rowley mile he will be trailing a 50 foot piece of hose behind him ;)

The going stick and the subsequent info it provides is thier friend imho and it would be great if the lightswitch has finally been turned on to that.

NEWMARKET has perfect ground for the Champions meeting and there are no plans to water, director of racing Michael Prosser said on Wednesday.

The going on the Rowley Mile is good and the weather forecast is favourable for the two-day fixture, which opens on Friday and concludes with Champions Day on Saturday.

depends if they;ve forgot to move the rails backwards and water the bits beyond the railings
By:

When: 15 Oct 09 14:26
obviously been watering the hell out of the virgin strip all week and never had to mention doing it because it was outside the confines of the current course.

when the rail gets moved, he will have his piece of overwatered false ground and so he will be able to give the bookies and the BHA another day like cambridgeshire day.

A new low at Newmarket. Readings below 8 and "AT THIS STAGE" he has no plans to water. Unable to add anything useful to what's been said here already, except my name.

Caulfield Cup

TRACK AND WEATHER CONDITIONS (as at 9am Friday morning)

Track is rated DEAD 4 with a Penetrometre reading of 5.33
The rail is out 6 metres the entire circuit

On Singapore scale 5.5 is Yielding( Good, low injury potential)

These equate to a GS reading in 8's

The mud racers from Euroland should be lovin it as long as surface don't dry out too much.
