Captain Cee Bee will not run in Irish Arkle - Harty
By Brian Fleming 1:55PM 4 JAN 2010

CAPTAIN CEE BEE will have one more run before he tackles the Irish Independent Arkle Chase in March, but it will not be in the Irish equivalent on January 24 according to trainer Eddie Harty.

The 2008 Supreme Novices Hurdle winner, successful on his chasing bow after a 600-day absence at Naas early last month, fell when about tochallenge Sizing Europe at the last in the recent 2m1f Bord Na Mona WithNature Grade 1 novice chase at Leopardstown.

really glad to see him running again before chelts....and hopefully an easier confidence boosting win, than going for the irish arkle. nice to see running plans given out this early aswell :)

I'd definitely rather he didnt run again, he's already showed he can win after a lay off as he won the supreme not running after november, he's bled in the past and most 2 milers are best fresh.
strange decision to run him again imo, he'll probably win easily in feb, but will it take the edge off for march?

Must say I'm in two minds about it, both sides make sense, just have to trust them to get him right for the day.

Nonsense.
He's avoiding all the good horses in the Irish arkle and having a quiet confidence booster 5wks prior to cheltenham.
Havent backed the horse but excellent plans by the connections to give the horse its best chance of glory at the festival.
Good luck to them.

1st past....can see your point....but taking the hopefully easier route...i'd sooner see him get some more experience.....but who knows with the weather, he may not get to run anyway if we get another cold spell.

Can see both sides too. Although if they give him another run sooner rather than later they can tick both boxes imo.

If they run him first week of Feb that will still give him 5/6 weeks to be nice and fresh for the big day and if he were mine, I would definitely like to see him have a confidence booster before the Arkle.

i think AP would like to get another spin on him, before the big day also.

I agree ben, getting him to have a clear round of jumping under his belt to get him over that fall but on the flip side running him fresh in the Arkle also makes sense.

Either way I'm willing to trust connections.

Personally think its absolutely the right thing to do.

me,too - would also add that trainer has done a great job to get him back to the level where he's an Arkle contender. Nobody would have been to surprised if he'd performed similarly to e.g. Nicanor on his comeback.

^ probably not a fair example as Nicanor was off three years so getting him back at all is an achievement - but you get the point!

Those with juicy bet's on CCB, are you covering your eye's at the 2nd last..? In case he doesn't get his landing gear down again.
By:

When: 04 Jan 10 20:09
Nah, he'll be 10 lengths clear and easing down by then. He'll step over the last 2 fences

I'd be suprised if he's within a length or two of the leader at the 2nd last, but agree if jumping soundly looks like he'll take the world of beating.

There is a case for running again and not i think, but you have to think connections know what they are doing and just go along with it.One thing for sure if he turns up in March he is the one that i will have on my side, along with Somersby.

Forgive the lack of knowledge but has any horse EVER won the supreme then the arkle, let alone on it's only two course visits?
If they have, it's been a while.

Just going on that, plus the possible big field rough race scenario, he has to be a lay for me.

Not sure you can particularly regard that as a stat. Maybe coming back after a non specfic race to win another non specific Cheltenham race but plenty have done that.

sj - just think time/ age will catch up with soon.
Fav's have a poor record, as do fallers, as do older horses.
He's being backed as if he would have beaten Sizing had he stood up, he may have, but we'll never know, i'm not convinced he would have. Either why jumping is the name of the game.

(Classy horse though, and great effort to get him back)
