I seem to be leaning towards the french superstar if she's anythng close to 6/4 on the day, I think CC is simply over rated! Has he actually beat a class group 1 miler thus far????

Whereas I need not to mention Goldie's achievements over the same distance - UK/US or France.

Your thoughts please.....

Based on the competiton of Canfords last race, I would be inclined to agree. I don't think Canfords had much of a warm up for this race.

He did beat Rip Van Winkle easily enough .Who was no superstar but certainly a proper Group 1 Horse.

Goldi will kick for home first...Canford stalking in behind...Hughes ass in the air saying look at me look at me!!..Canford pulls up besides Goldi cantering...But Goldikova shows another!!!!! quick burst of acceleration & leaves Canford for dead..Hughes starts to push but cant live with the power of the super mare...

'Canford Cliffs is simply over rated!'  LaughLaughLaugh

i'm sorry mr blonde but anyone with that opinion could not be more wrong,Canford is the best miler since Rock Of Gibralter and as good as Goldicova is he will blow her away and will win evey race he competes in this season
By:

TheFormMan "the best miler since rock of gibralter" do me a favour!

please the next thing you'll be telling me is he'll go off fav vs frankel!
canford cliffs is a group 1 horse granted but other than a few meaningless comments from hughes - (who said d.gold was going to win the irish guinees) & let's be fair, he has been known to hype up his horse's & usually lose. - therefore when hughes talks up a horse u know they are too short a price.

goldie - been there got the t-shirt and some! 11/10 giving away 3lb to a 13time group 1 winning mare...? has there ever been such a LAAAAYYYYYYYY!!!!

lol LaughLaugh

My take on this match up is that Hannon was extremely unlucky not to beat Goldikova last season with Paco Boy. If he takes her on with Canford Cliffs in my opinion that will be because he thinks there is an outstanding chance of beating her. That'll do for me.

oh and bye the way - you say cc beat rip van winkle easy enough - ithought it won by a short head.
whereas in this race last year - both paco boy & goldie beat rip van winkle by over 7 lenghts. not sure what school of form you whent to - but 7 lengths seems alot easyto me than a "short head" - but im sure it won easy enough if you say so.

lol

11/10 - and most likely to be backed into odds on, on the day by mindless fool's like yourself.

good luck "form man" / "tobermory" - you'll sure need it!

Laugh nobody cares what Hughes thinks blondie,Canford shows enough on the racecourse to let everyone know what a beast he is and putting the word hype anywhere near his name is crazy and posting up silly little form lines that are meaningless regarding Rip is just stupid,i could be just as stupid if i wanted to and say the goldikova got blowen away 2 1/2 lengths by makfi at deauville yet Canford destroyed makfi by 4 1/2 lengths at ascot last year, but i know better than to do such a thing as these races were down to lots of different factors such as ground and horses running to there true mark which Rip certainly did not that day,i can tell you for an utter fact that Canford will win the queen anne and i will be backing it up with one of the largest bets that i have ever placed,i know that my money is safe and i hope you come to your senses before next week young fella
By:

one of the biggest bets you've ever done!!! please dont have your £20 on this horse. lol

as well as cc travels u and i both know you cant out stay goldikova over a mile.

once again i wish you the best of luck as i know what will happen if you follow through will your bullish but very ill advised prediction.

& just out of interest where when/where about will u be backing this super colt then???? as he will shorten up on theday as mindless fools will see it odds against & just back it. givin away 3lb on firm groud.... PLEASE!!!!

she will p*ss all over this colt & spit him out again....

you got one thing right however..... i am alot younger than you [:p]

I'd be in the Goldikova camp (how could a loyal follower desert her!?), but to use Rip Van Winkle as a form guide is not recommended. He was no where near peak fitness when Goldikova beat him last year, and the rumour at the time was that there was even still a bit to work on against Canford Cliffs.

Sould be a cracker of a race, but at 13/8 I'd have to side with the mare.

surely with cape blanco in this for me aids goldikova more than canford, but do you reckon we might get around 7/4on both if cape blanco turns up
By:
MR BLONDE
When: 08 Jun 11 22:13
think on the day your more likely to look at

canford evens

goldie 13/8

cape blanco 10/1

would love to see frankel run against these 2!!!!

how do you reckon they would go

frankel 8/13

canford 7/2

goldie 4/1

plus a few other runners ofcouse....?

I am a massive Goldi fan but I was planning just to enjoy this race without a bet as I rate CC as a seriously class individual, however surprised to see the wonder mare at 13/8 in places... If she went 7/4 I'd have to bet.
By:

Got to agree with Dessiereborn - Paco got very close in the race last year and Canford is better than him.  Paco got close because Goldi was not on top of her game and won't be again - same prep race this year and not anywhere near as impressive. She was better at 4yo than 5yo and likely better at 5yo than 6yo.  Better horse (especially with the weight concession) and achieved more than CC ever will - but next Tuesday he will run closer to his peak form than her.  Really ought to be able to find better value than near even money on what contains a lot of guessing.  Cape Blanco's inclusion means there is going to be a nice place only bet to have for third because it won't be him.

Crazy to bet either when each is a potent danger

The 15/8 Shumook is ten time the bet as she is diff gravy to the others.

Great race but an absolute no bet race if ever their was one

Sh1t price which ever one you pick and a clear danger in the race

Goldikova will win imo,too classy for Canford, and pellier will not make the same mistake as when taking on paco last year where he kicked on too early but still won,
By:
Fallen Angel
When: 09 Jun 11 09:11
They have both started the season well, Goldikova was excellent at Royal Ascot last season and ran in a very respectable time aswell (fast by 1.2secs), Canford cliffs also handles Ascot track and also ran a fair time (fast by 0.50sec) so it looks to be very close on paper highlighted by the betting.

My initial thought was that Canford Cliffs as a four year old looks to have improved and Goldikova is another year older. However I am not at all certain as 6 years old is no over the hill by any means and her record 16/22 means on any other occasion that 6/4 would be massive. Its a very tough call and looks the ultimate match bet as nothing else looks to have enough class. A fascinating encounter and really torn on this one.
By:
ilikewavingatbuses
When: 09 Jun 11 11:24
goldikova took up the running far too early at ascot last yr, i think most would agree. this made her an easy target, and he still couldnt get by. forget the proximity of paco boy to goldi, it bares little relevance to her ability! he was destroyed in the BC by her EEEASILY!
By:
ilikewavingatbuses
When: 09 Jun 11 11:25
im not saying either is a cert but i think canford will struggle to get by her, if he does then fair play.

good race in store.

When: 09 Jun 11 14:06
everyone assumes that goldikova will be ridden exactly like she was last year but is that certain? given that may just put her up as a sitting duck for canford cliffs. funny race the queen anne, never been my favourite race. at the moment looks a no-bet contest.
By:
Slabster
When: 09 Jun 11 22:37
As you say Mythical Prince, it's not certain she will be ridden like that. She's got plenty of speed, just look at the Breeder's Cup. She could only play into Canford Cliff's 'hoofs' by giving him something to take aim at. I wouldn't mind seeing Peslier tracking Hughesie to be honest. Although, with the pacemaker in, are they going to use slingshot tactics?

By the way, Mythical Prince, are you connected to the horse of the same name?

I am staggered anyone would be talking about either as a good bet at less than 2/1 when you have the best taking on the 2nd best therefore a massive danger

I prefer my 6/4 shots to have massive edge in thier favour
Nither of these have a massive edge

Enjoy a wonderfull race , but betting in this offers ZERO value imo even if you GUESS right
By:
Slabster
When: 09 Jun 11 22:56
A 6/4 shot is a 6/4 shot Zippie.

6/4 = 40% (Goldikova)
5/4 = 44% (Canford Cliffs)
The remaining 12% made up by the rest, although the bookies mark up means it is more than 12%.

With your selected 6/4 shot:
6/4 = 40%
The remaining % is still made up by the opposition.

The fact is that both 6/4 shots have the same % chance in the opinions of the bookmakers. There may be no one single massive danger in your selected race, but there are a number of horses who represent the sum of that danger.

What we do know about Goldikova and Canford Cliffs is they rarely if ever run a poor race, so backers of both should get a run for their money.

Have to agree with Zippie,i fancy Goldikova but you'd waana be mad to risk lots of cash on her when Canford Cliffs is Quite possibly as good as her

Richard Hughes is always going for the surprise element, turn of foot effort on CC- why doesn't he try kicking a bit further out as he just needed a few feet one time these two meet and he'd have had it!
By:
Sterling Morrison
When: 10 Jun 11 08:35
I love Goldie and have been on her for most of her wins and although i think she will win I tend to agree with Zippie.  There will be better 6/4 shots around than that.

May have a few shillings out of sentiment but not a 20% Bank job as has been the case in her other races
By:
Slabster
When: 10 Jun 11 09:59
Well I for one think has about a 50% chance of winning, and therefore for me the 13/8 is value, win, lose or draw. All about opinions!

Also, I'd agree that the Frankel/So You Think double is very tempting Devil

zippie, you say 'I am staggered anyone would be talking about either as a good bet at less than 2/1 when you have the best taking on the 2nd best therefore a massive danger'

this is a game of opinions and if that is the way you see it then you are doing the right thing in not betting in the race, but others would see it very differently,i think the 5/4 about Canford is an absolute gift and see no possible way that he can be beaten, the fact that Goldikova has been a very strong favorite in all of her last 14 starts and the fact that she has won 11 group 1's in those 14 starts tells you just how good she is,taking all that into account the fact that Canford is favorite for this race and a very strong favorite at that, tells you just how high the opinion of him generally is,as good as Goldi is,she has been winning most of her group ones against her own sex or at the breeders cup against lesser opposition, way way below the level that Canford Cliffs sets, beating gio ponti just over a length, beating paco boy half a length and a neck, beating music show 3 lengths, beating couragous cat half a length, beating elusive wave just over a length, beating heaven sent half a length, this is hardly form that is going to have Canford running scared, the fact is that if you would have replaced Goldi with Canford in those 11 group 1's then he would have won every single one of them just as she did and probably even the races that she failed to win also,i do not at all see Goldi as a threat to Canford in this race, therefore 5/4 i am more than happy to collect on and see it as AMAZING value and i am not GUESSING on the result,at 2:30 on tuesday you are going to witness a truely exceptional performance from Canford that is going to blow you away and that i can PROMISE YOU

also regarding the frankle so you think double,Planteur is the best 10f horse in training imo and has a serious amount of ability and so you think will have to live upto every inch of the hype to beat him on wens.

no I wish I could afford to own racehorses, but it's possible they named the horse after my forum name
as the horse only started racing a couple of years after I joined the forum.

In fact the reason I have this name is when I first joined there was this horse called mythical kid,
trained by michael stoute, that I liked, unfortunately he didn't reach the heights I expected of him Cry
