That;s why I never bet any shorties in the Derby first round.

Just my opinion but they have managed to speed the track up, that is a good start. I think the quality is fantastic this year plenty of Irish youngsters who look top class, yes I think this is one of the best in recent years.

yes I agree Shropshirelad, the sort to keep on improving, but many similar sorts in the comp, it is deep this year, lack of wide runners is to be expected in light of the history of them at Towcester.

"3 needs the run", I don't fancy the red and I still can't back the 2, Magico, who should really win.

My three picks through to round two

If he isn’t injured APACHE should come on plenty for that race.

Eagerly awaiting the draw on Monday

All the best

Had another look at the Ballinabola Ed race last night , this is a Derby favourite who was next to last out of the boxes , yes superb early pace , but it makes you think . I guess it can be looked at either way , room for improvement or a banana skin . Just chanced a small wager on the second , Cushie Concorde , who can get out and may improve again , 50s+.

Am I right in thinking that the only market on Betfair for a race that started with over 150 entries is win only?
If so that's pathetic.

I am guessing that is for the travel plans of trainers Case? Still not the same spectacle in daylight is it. Give it a few more years, the derby will be on one of those 8:12am start meetingsLaugh

Barely picked a winner in the first round, bar one notable, and wouldn't have got near any of these three tonight.  Laugh
Which is why I never start betting in earnest until round 3.

I got the feeling from something the breeder said recently that they really like this Swift Iconic, as young as he is.  I wonder how he'll box and go here?
