although a dog running back does not constitute outside interference what about the dogs welfare for feck sake.....the irish boys need to pull themselves together as they look right coonts not stopping the hare and letting that race stand......
By:
I have no idea of the rules over there, but thought when they not stop the hare it must stand.

Declaration of a "NO RACE"
The stewards may declare a "No Race" only in the following circumstances: (1) Where there is a mechanical or other defect of the hare equipment or starting box or any outside interference with the race, or (2) if any of the dogs fight, and as a consequence, all fail to pursue the hare, or (3) if for any other reason all dogs fail to pursue the hare. Note : A greyhound turning back in a race does not constitute outside interference. The above are the rules , |

Never saw that race live but watched the replay and is that really the rules that a dog turning back doesn't constitute interference?
Quite incredible and in my 60+ years of watching greyhound racing have never seen a result stand after such an incident. |

I never knew that the Irish rules could permit such a farce as I witnessed last night in fact I would have been surprised to see such a thing at a flapping track let alone the Irish Derby. It was a disgrace to the sport I love and have followed since the 1950s and I for one ain't going to touch this competition with my money.
By:
What nonsense sparrow ffs because of what happened you won't touch this competition....ffs the off course pricing is absolutely comedy with some of the most amazing ricks you'll ever see and you won't touch the comp over that
By:
On what happened last night:
In the stands i said straight away to stop the hare and was shocked they didn't although trying to think of an occasion over here they've actually done it is not easy. The Irish rule states that a greyhound turning and running the wrong way does not constitute outside interference.......However what you can't see on the video is there was somebody on the track trying to catch the dog, that to me is clear outside interference. What i felt should have happened was the 3 dogs where put through to the next round and then the result was voided for betting purposes, the 4 dog was going to be at worst 2nd and judging by how close the bottom got to the winner it's likely for me the 4 would have actually won the race had he not been distracted.. |
By:
premier, so by saying you were "shocked" that they didn't stop the hare you clearly agreed with me on what happened yet you also say I am talking nonsense by making my own little protest. You would do better to concentrate your mind on what actually happened and what should be done about the rules than call me out.
By:
and what is "your own little protest" going to achieve ffs
so they stick a dog in way too big with a dream draw and you'll not back it because of your little protest, who is that going to harm ?? Shelbourne Park? The IGB? Nope it's called cutting your nose off to spite your face I know exatly what happened last night, i was there |
By:
It will achieve nothing premier and I know that but you just keep papering over the cracks and hope nobody else notices. As you were one of the privileged people that were in attendance last night clearly you saw things that none of us watching online saw and as ever you know best.
By:
Yes i did see things that's not visible on the video...
Ok then, what do you want me to do, boycott the rest of the Derby, give up going racing, stop betting on it ?? All becuase i think they applied the rule wrong last night. The fact of the matter is had nobody got onto the track last night during that race imo then they'd have applied the rule perfectly but becuase people did get on and in trying to stop Laughil Josh changed his course that to me constituted outside interference and he ended up on the part of the track to distract the 4 dog due to outside interference. |
By:
My view is that the rule needs to be amended whereby the hare is stopped in the interests of safety when a dog turns back irrespective of whether any of the remaining dogs are distracted or not.
I happen to believe that when something like this happens in a competition as high profile as this then the integrity of the sport is at grave risk and that needs to be addressed. So instead of trying to belittle me because of my actions you should concentrate your mind on the real issue here. |
By:
Fack me, i said in my earlier post i thought the hare should have been stopped...
Who knows this may lead to them revisiting the rule However you're cutting your nose off to spite you face over it, which makes zero sense, well to me anyway |
By:
Lads you both appear to be agreeing, the integrity of the sport was compromised , as to what degree it was compromised .....it is irrelevant surely ? It didnt look good for the sport.
