Why wouldn't a run off been possible, anyway?

Sure Rab would have taken it with his dog long odds on in a match, imo but both need to agree on a toss if that was going to be the solution

PS Daz, don't think it says anywhere in the rule book that two cant qualify in the event of a dead heat for third

common sense did prevail with the dead heaters both getting through but i dont think it should have happened,whats the point in having rules if they are not followed to the letter.

Sounds like they did exactly the right thing here, anytime common sense is used to defy a rule written in stone its proof that no matter how hard you try you cant write rules to cover every eventuality in greyhound racing, let alone life !
