just my view on it but...

surely for any dog to get a run as a reserve from the run off, the run off has to take place

I understand why they aren't but imo pre-determined protocol has been waived here

DH for 3rd requires a run off or a coin flip to decide which of the 2 dogs qualifies

not sure i agree....both have filled a qualifying place......on the other point.....if the runner up is a reserve should a vacant trap become available in the next round but a trap is already available why have the run off both go through......the only difference tonight is both dogs are capable of getting any trap whereas.....should a vacant trap become available they would have to absorb that draw......

4/6 a steal, pf. Mate drove straight down the M1 from Sheffield, passing Newark, joining the A610 Nottingham, then A60 before following the signs for the horse racing track

HGS you say Private made the post of the year but not necessarily so bookmakers the only enemy. In this day and age on the exchanges don't we back against each other too, or am I missing something?

Liked Colwick Park. Million times more modern than the old run down Plough Lane and great view of the dogs whizzing close by, unlike Towcester where you needed binoculars. Nice country backdrop anorl. Drawback, not mad busy but still nowhere to sit

Oi Oi 16/1, 20/1 and 22/1 Dower Rory. Of course, I only ever go for favourites! Laugh

The 4/1 Beyoncé/Bale double like finding money in the street, pair winning by an aggregate of nearly 10 lengths and the sp double only paying marginally over 13/8! Cool

PS Glad common sense prevailed with both dead-heaters qualifying

common sense did prevail with the dead heaters both getting through but i dont think it should have happened, whats the point in having rules if they are not followed to the letter.

what should have happened is a coin should have been tossed to see who goes through to the 23 runner 1/4 finals and a motion to be made to amend the rules for if a situation like this occured again in the future for it to be settled like it was last night.

Daz, think the rule in question said the 4th home wouldn't be promoted in the event of one of the top 3 being disqualified

Think it was a grey area (never happened before, not in England anyway?), so might have set a good precedent
By:
Winja
When: 08 Jun 19 15:23
daz that would have happened if there was no vacancy.......however.....if you understand the rules......the dog who came fourth in the race with the disqualification cannot qualify for the next round so there was a vacancy........if two dead heated dogs race in a run off the loser stands as reserve for the next round only.....as there was a place available that would have been filled.....no need for a run off......i cant believe how anyone can make a case stating the end result was unfair.......as an aside....if a coin toss was chosen over a run-off then the loser does not become a reserve......

i never mentioned anything about the 4th dog home, dont know why ye are bringing that up.i clearly said a 23 runner 1/4 finals.

the end result was not unfair but at the same time you cant ignore the rules just to fit what is the common sense solution.

in my opinion what should have happened is a coin toss(run off not possible) and for the rule book to be changed for future events
