Woody, Pesonally I would of be amazed if Droopys Roddick had won last night. He wasn't drawn to get a dream run with Riverside Oscar and Clares Rocket inside him and with lack of top pace to the bend he was always going to have a goalkeeper in his way. Didn't see Witches Belle winning from the inside duo tbh.

Kerrching, was a tricky draw. Squeezed early bends but still think he would have won if not knocked back final bends. 550yds would suit better. Only had £4 to return about £151 anyway. Not much to recoup

some of the prices must be an absolute wind up, a personal fav is Hee Haws Sheriff between 66/1-100/1, like seriously how many zero's are missing off that price, an aeroplane early but he falls in a hole over 525y, 66s to enter would not even be value |

Just taken stock and got a bit more than £14 on Roddick at 14/1 already. Quite a bit more than usual at this juncture. Just hoping he proves he was unlucky in the English Derby and goes one better. Good dog this!

Backed 7 in total and probably lost a couple.
Roddick to win £2500 average of about 20/1 Jo Jo Fantasy to win £3000 at 100/1 Anopheles to win £2500 at 66/1 Tyrur Van Gaal to win £2000 at 50/1 Tyrur Tommy to win £2500 at 100/1 (think this one is gone) Siderian Vega to win £2000 at 80/1 (this could be gone too) Droopys Sambuca to win £2500 All have been bet e/w and the above is only counting the win part of the bet so actually got them for alittle more. I honestly think if JJF enters he has a decent chance of reaching the final but cant lead and probably cant win. Roddick is my main hope. Got the tickets booked for the final and hotel booked. Still need to book the flights but me and the missus are going this year :) will probably top up a couple and pick a couple just before the start aswell but looking forward to it. |

The ante post market on this is farcical, there are dogs that have been doing times around Shelbourne good enough to win most derbies and definitely to go deep in the competition yet are not even quoted, then they have dogs that are retired, injured, a million to enter quoted.

None of them give a damn about the race now it seems PF.
The betting service for Irish dogs is a disgrace with PP not even betting from Shelbourne on any given night. |

I have to simply be against Clares Rocket at the price for this Derby. First things first a thread was put up here before the Produce Stakes asking who the fastest dog was in training either side of the sea and I immediately put him forward, he has exceptional pace, unbelievable to the third bend.
However there are clearly reasons (for me) to want to be against him at such a short price (I know I am in the minority, I do like that though). Let's take his 7 races around Shelbourne and his latest 2 trials. They where all over 525y and his average sectional has been 2:09, more alarmingly for me though is the fact he has done 2.22, 2.21, 2.15 and in his latest trial a 2.23 sectional. Of course that's only to the finish line and the longer run up will play to his strengths but that is too inconsistent for me and if coming away like that he will surely struggle even with his early pace to lead around the corner. Then we come to the other thing that I am totally in the minority about but is he guaranteed to get the 550y around Shelbourne strong? Of course if he is covering the first 525y of the race in 28 dead he could fall over the line the extra 25y in most races but if he fails to lead which if coming away as I have shown above he will struggle too how well will he see the trip out? This is not knocking the dog (he is a machine) and I would be happy to be proven wrong as god knows what he could do for 550y if staying it well but the dog is 8/1 fav already and could end up god knows what price come the start of the comp so for me I will be taking him on (deja vu as most years I think they have the fav desperate short). |

Rocket plenty short enough now and looked short enough at 12/1.
Only took 50s after 28.00 run in Limerick beating Witches Belle by 8 lengths as they were not adjusting prices to reflect the runs that night and he is to form the basis of an ante post book, which I was wrong to include Double O Seven in as my first bet. The ante post market at the moment is a complete mess as you say PF. Trouble will be getting on even when it is up in some sort of order. Facility to add to CR is long gone now as well. |

would not say you where wrong to include Double Oh Seven, shocking luck what happened him at Wimbledon and while I could not have seen him win the Derby with his lack of early he could have went a long way in the comp, would not have surprised me had he gone all the way to the final
