Shelbourne Aston looked a machine, then flopped in that stayers competition.
Re-Frankals role of honour, wasnt Spring Time a bitch that won the English Oaks? And, i was there in 2003 for Climate Control, got 9/2 before the final and it paid for the trip  .Other winners Razldazl Billy, College Causeway, then covers on all subsequent champions |

i love north bound but he's like Sparta Maestro (or Eske in UK) they are among top 1% fastest dogs out there but lack the early from traps against the very best that will do them..

Every year i say i wont have a bet until the 1st round is over...i try to stick to my promise this year.
 ... p.f we all know North bound has the talent to win the derby but he has the habit of sometimes looking the other way when traps open,,,he WONT get away with it in the later rounds; theres to many good dogs around from the q/finals onwards. |

Another little 33/1 nibble at North Bound, myself. Git a interest in Paradise Silva in the current Shelbourne comp and considering that for Derby, too, think 40/1. Also think Ardfert Thunder still got chances despite behind North Bound last Saturday

Thanks Metro, same to you. Really looking forward to Shelbourne. Got my finger in lots of antepost pies, like Leger and 2014 Derby. Not to mention current ongoing events at Sunderland, Henlow, Monmore, Swindon and Poole. Mainly very small but some, more than well worth winning. Just looking to Shaneboy Spencer, Bangcrashwallop at Sunderland, Airport Captain at Henlow and Special Release at Swindon, really!

Could be some shortening after the next couple of nights, with particularly in mind Roxholme Bully (going in the International tonight), Paradise Silva (in tomorrow night's Shelbourne final) and Paradise Madison (taking on Ardfert Thunder - also in Dublin tomorrow). There are plenty of other candidates, too. Dont know whether to expand my 3-dog portfolio or hang on. Think i'm shying away from Vic and Jet at the moment

PUMA PLEASES IN TRIAL
13/07/2013 A large crowd gathered on the steps of Shelbourne Park prior to Saturday’s racing to witness Derby champion Skywalker Puma impress in a solo trial over 525yds. In a trial session consisting of some big names, the Puma was easily fastest. Despite nodding slightly at trap rise it was evident Skywalker Puma was moving with some purpose. The well-balanced black never broke stride as he maintained a strong gallop throughout to stop the clock in a very slick 28.32. Next fastest was Tyrur Sugar Ray, who also pleased with a 28.58 spin. He, too, seemed to lose a stride at traprise but soon recovered and, scraping the paint off the rails throughout, looked more than well in himself. Others to trial included Jaytee Hellcat, who in his first look at Shelbourne Park beat promising puppy Amazing Hi by four lengths in 28.74. The unraced puppy Tyrur Van Persie clocked 29.10 and Pennys Premier clocked 29.15. The flying bitch Melodys Diamond had a 550 yard spin and went around in an impressive 29.74. |

BY JIM CREMIN 2:15PM 19 JUL 2013 SAWPIT SENSATION was withdrawn Monday afternoon from Tuesday’s Betfred Eclipse. Droopys Pride comes into the field as first reserve. Dave Hunt, owner trainer of Sawpit Sensation, said: “My vet checked him over again and found he had a temperature and enlarged tonsils. He might still have come right, but his advice was to put him on antibiotics – which of course means the race would definitely come too soon under the rules.” Sawpit Sensation had suffered a fit on Saturday, although had made good progress since. “It’s disappointing but hardly the end of the world. His welfare comes first and he is such a popular dog, everyone wants to know how he is. The answer is he will be fine, and we will probably target Sheffield’s Steel City Cup next [final September 11], and then come back for the Betfred Eclipse [final November 20]. “My vet has also advised me to forget the [ETS] Irish Derby. We planned to travel back and forth and he says six such possible trips, after what’s happened, would be unwise. He feels it’s more a combination of three things, tiredness from our journey to Dundalk, the extreme heat and a minor infection. Nothing serious, but taken together, it got to him. He can put his feet back up now!” Story on Sunday SAWPIT SENSATION, 7-4 favourite (betting suspended) with the sponsors for the Betfred Select at Nottingham tomorrow week, has been withdrawn from a prep race at the track on Monday after suffering what is believed to be a heat-induced fit. Dave Hunt, his owner trainer, said on Sunday: “It came out of the blue at around midday on Saturday, he was panting like mad, and then had a fit. My vet came straight round, treated him, calmed him down and he went off to sleep. He had one further minor episode, but more positively, then woke up hungry and demanded his food – and the vet was pleased with that. "He slept OK Saturday night, went out this [Sunday] morning and emptied normally, which was encouraging, then demanded his usual walk! “There was obviously no question of him running at Nottingham on Monday and I will be entirely guided by my vet as to the Select, but he seems hopeful he can make an immediate and full recovery, and may still be able to take his chance. He would need a sprint trial before racing on Saturday. We’ll see, he will first require an in-depth examination by my vet, I suppose it’s 50/50, and I plan to make a decision on Wednesday.” |
