no shock seen as the prize money is only a pitiful €20,000 to the winner, €6,000 to 2nd, €3,500 to 3rd and €2,500 to the 4th, 5th and 6th for 1 run

agree incredible, but perhaps not surprising. also cos' the Irish want a UK component by putting your dog forward in forthright manner you might stand a chance of being accepted with your dog perhaps not being absolutely top class, and chance of big payday as PF says for one race, and at very least easily covers costs and have excitng and maybe unrepeatable day for owners.

Dont think the English got anything else good enough. Think we nearly totally depending on Lister and Draper for our top dogs and they dont like making the journey, dont blame them really. We got some very smart youngsters coming through, but struggling for the International. No disrespect, but the likes of Sawpit Sensation, been over before, Westmead Adonis, Derby finalist, would probably just be making up the numbers, if they went over. Dont know the current status of all dogs but if fit, would Farloe Ironman be possible? And, i'd like to see Slick Santiago have a crack if at his peak

1st place - €20,000
2nd place - €6,000 3rd place - €3,500 4th place - €2,500 5th place - €2,500 6th place - €2,500 I'd come over with a bloody poodle if i got the chance ![]() |
By:
I'd think sawpit sensation would be a fair enough candidate?
By:
He wouldn't have done enough to get an invite i'd say but his owner/trainer should drop some hints, as Swayne has said it's supposed to be an International so you never know.
I don't know how much the travel costs to come over and i'm sure if a dog got an invite the trainer would want to bring them for a trial first but surely it would not cost more than 2,500 which you're guaranteed back. |
By:
Yeh,he occured as owner has already proven willing to travel, also,he equalled Blonde Dino's track record at perry barr, the last Uk winner(runner even?)
By:
Nambisco ran in it last year.
Westmead Bolt the year before but i think he was based with Fraser at the time. Ballymac Ruso and Kinda Ready the year before that. Blonde Dino won the year before that, Romeo Maldini also ran that year. With the constant complaint about prize money you'd think anybody getting an invite with a fit dog would jump at the opportunity. |

ah right,what about alien planet?
By:
He'd be interesting wouldn't he? Looks an awesome prospect.
Razldazl George will get in as Derby Champion, Milldean Panther will get in, Barefoot Allstar will get in as Scottish Derby Champion (if let take his place), after that i don't know. Maybe Kingo (Betfair 600 winner) and Milldean Tally (Oaks winner). Don't think Sparta Maestro (Puppy Derby winner) or Tyrur Big Mike (Easter Cup winner) will go for it so no idea who the 6th would be, maybe Piercestown Sand (Gold Cup winner). |
By:
I wonder would Rioga be put forward or maybe Quail Hollow.
As it is it's not hard to see Dolorus with half the field and John O Flynn with a third of the field ![]() |
By:
Dont think youngssters like Alien Planet really cut out for International duty. But, yeah, been wondering whats happened to Piercestown Sand. English might have had a contender or two if the race wasnt at the same time as the Classic. An unlucky but sound semi elimination there could be a possible if its one of the classy runners? Dont really understand the Bert invite, unless it was extended before the start of the Sunderland comp, academic now anyway

Im surprised that the current favourite for next years English Derby hasnt been shortlisted

Barefoot Allstar not runing

Reading on another site it's said there is an entry fee of €2,000
i never realised this and it kind of changes it a bit. I'd still be entering if given an invite however as you're getting it back with a bit more. |
By:
will the rest of the card b any gud
By:
It's usually a good enough card, it's only 2 days before the Champion Stakes starts and the day before the Corn Cuchulainn Final so hard to know
By:
lets hope so can never bak a winner there think the last time i bak the winner was droopys electrice
By:
maybe things have changed, i always thought it was 500 entry fee
By:
I've no idea mesi, didn't even realise there was a fee for this seen as it's an invitation (probably silly of me)
By:
2k last year.
By:
My bad
still a guaranteed monkey back at least on your investment, not as lucrative coming from the UK if you wish to have a trial too. I still don't get the lack of interest though |
By:
RP today says €2.5k entry, refers to €17.5k net to the winner. Clearly money is good whichever way you look at it, but for any UK the prestige/pride of being associated/in the race is what would make it for me, even if cost a fair lump, which it doesn't if you get accepted. If I had a dog good enough/near good enough, I'd start a website promoting it to get in!!!

milldean panther 29.92
milldean tally 29.98 |
By:
Swayne.........Rumour has it that the English dog last year was well looked after to come over.
By:
2 super runs by both Milldean's.........the track would have been a small bit sloppy.

Razldazl George 30.02
Kingo 30.20 Shelbourne Geoff 30.20 Quail Hollow 28.38 (525y) |

Kingo (Dolores Ruth) Milldean Panther (John O’Flynn Jnr) Milldean Tally (John O’Flynn Jnr) Quail Hollow (Francie Murray) Razldazl George (Dolores Ruth) |

Wat a poor turnout

By:
BJG....What would be your line up?.
By:
That's diffucult to say as we don't know who wished to run in it.
I'll go though 1. Subway Ruth (Cesarewitch winner, Longford Derby winner) 2. Razldazl Rioga (Laurels Champion, Race Of Champions winner) probably not aimed at it 3. Razldazl George (Derby winner) 4. Piercestown Sand (Waterford Masters winner, Gold Cup winner) probably not aimed at it 5. Milldean Tally (Oaks Champion) 6. Sparta Maestro (Puppy Derby Champion, Larry Dunne winner) probably not aimed at it Reserves:: Kingo (Betfair 600 winner) Milldean Panther Qual Hollow (Cox Cup winner) Tyrur Big Mike (Easter Cup winner) not aimed at it |
By:
You can only put in the dogs that are available.......Quail hollow is a faster dog the subway ruth......panther was kept for this race.....sparta is not right.
By:
TSR dissappointing last night PF
Needs an inside draw now doesnt it ? |
By:
I know that's what i said in the first line, if i was given free reign and all the dogs where available and no UK raiders where interested that's who i would have offered places too. Subway Ruth may not be the fastest but i feel those 2 wins, 1 a classic should have been enough to get her a place.
I would have gone for the big comp winners so that's why i didn't have Milldean Panther in the 6, nothing to do with his ability obviously. Sure no matter who got in they is always going to be somebody not happy, sure look at all the furore over the selections for the Select Stakes in England. |
By:
I thought he ran alright Irish but yes he is always going to be his own downfall and unless he gets miracle draws every night through the Derby it's hard to see how he goes all the way now to be honest as he just dives left at boxes.
By:
Even last year on the night certain trainers were still cribbing........very hard to keep everyone happy.........At least it proves the uk dogs are happy to run at home for peanuts.
By:
True, loads complain about the rubbish prize money yet there are plenty of comps over here with good prize money but they've no interest in travelling
By:
perhaps expectations too high for Sugar Ray, can never judge a dog re times and trackcraft until run in all aged decent open race company proper
By:
I thought he ran well from the 2nd, made up a decent amount of ground on Razldazl Luke who is no slouch. The problem is securing a run early, he is so hit or miss at boxes and then is mad for the rails run up.
