lol always get mixed up with ollie schniederjans and xander
xanders bogey and rorys birdie at the end have left me with a bit of mess of a book so the rain can keep falling for me |

'Next update at 10am. Earliest a tee time will be is noon. Honestly think it’s going to be tough to play any golf at all. Lots of rain still the come. We need rain to stop so course can dry out and maintenance go work on the course.' (2h) 'If we don’t play today, we will try and play tomorrow. Depending on how the course is tomorrow and what the weather looks like, it could be reduced to a 54 hole event. We have regulations in place, where we aren’t able to start the final round past Monday.' (59 mins) |

@RickieLegion 8m8 minutes ago More Here’s what we know. -The PGA said this won’t be a 54 hole tournaments because it has so many implications. -This could be a Monday or Tuesday finish. -It’s supposed to rain all day today. |

Know they usually pull something out of the bag, but hard to see how they get the final round played here if the course is flooded and no let up in the forecast til Tuesday- they'll need a substantial break in the rain to even get the course ready let alone play. If they stick to the rule of only using Tuesday to complete a round rather than start one I don't see a way to get it done without a big change in the weather. Such a good leaderboard too, but I fear Justin's already won this.
By:
the only way I can see is if they work overnight tonight to try and clear the course. that way if it's light rain tomorrow it's still playable and not flooded.
By:
That said, looking closer at tomorrow they might have a chance to get enough play in to at least trigger the Tuesday finish under the rules.
By:
would be completely daft if they called it monday when tuesday looks clear- I don't care what the rules say- just follow common sense.
they can get the tournament done on tuesday which is so much better from everyone's point of view, barring rose and the people who have backed him. |
By:
spieth would be 31st in the fedex which would mean he's out of the tour final. plus facing a fine for not playing enough events.
xander would be denied a chance to get on the ryder cup team, or at least get into the reckoning. dj would surrender his world ranking without a fight. I could go on. |
By:
They would need a break tomorrow with weather but it is amazing how many times they manage to finish when you think there is no chance.
I suspect a lot will depend on how much work needs to be done on the course. Given they are off due to rain rather than lightning suggests the course is unplayable and can only be getting worse. For the rest of the day it is 95% or higher chance of rain so doubt they get out tonight. Tomorrow chance of rain is still greater than 50% so will need to get lucky. |
By:
Slugger sounds pretty pessimistic, still says they wouldn't go to Tuesday to start the round. Not sure why, really. If the rules say they can go to Tuesday to finish 2 hours golf why can't they go to play 7 hours golf, with no tournament after? Imagine there will be a lot of discussion behind the scenes about it.
By:
I suppose in the rule book the question would be whether they had the seven hours - they obviously want to avoid a repeat of the event which couldn't be finished till months later a few weeks back.
Common sense would say with no event next week they finish on tuesday but if the rules say they can't then don't see how they can. |
By:
slugger says the greens are ok if this was the monthly medal we would be out there. Just have lift clean and place on the fairways and casual water relief.
By:
Be some way for Rose to reach number 1. I imagine he'll be keen for them to keep to the letter of the law.
By:
be a shame if we couldn't play 4 rds cos i'm itching to lay the f*ck outta JR
By:
U know that Johnny..
Get on with it...Zander awaits.. Ryder cup awaits get in the hole hoo hah |
By:
Think Rose is too short here
If it is 54 holes then all bets after round 3 will be voided if they come out for rd4 then he has into a final round shoot out with a course that will be even softer |
By:
Next and final update at 7pm .

By:
abandoned today, back tomorrow.

By:
Still ruling out Tuesday if tomorrow's a washout so they'll need to get lucky to complete 72.

does anyone know for sure what betfair rules are? If its a 54 hole competition will all bets be void. Hope not as I have backed Justin. Thanks
Lester |
By:
If you backed him before end of play yesterday you will be paid (in full) as a winner if the tournament is cut to 54 holes.

From their rules Lester. 'All bets on this market will be declared void unless 54 holes of the tournament are completed.' |
By:
Regarding US PGA Tournaments, In the past if the result was called on 54 holes then any bet taken before the close of the 3rd round would be valid, any bets taken after the close of the 3rd round would be void, ie when the market closed in play betting, so even if you placed a bet 1 second after the close of in play(when the green light went out) of the 3rd round it would be void.

looks like there will be play today. no rain for a few hours according to the forecast and course will most likely dry out enough for it to be playable, although players will have to contend with some rain when they come out.
By:
Really hope so, guess it depends on the state of the course at the scheduled start, they don’t have much wiggle room in the dry window this morning. They seem very reluctant to start if they don’t know for sure they can finish, especially with the forecast for Tuesday now looking bad. The dumb rule that unless half the field are finished today they revert to 54 is the problem- the leaders could be well into the back 9 before that point and there would be uproar to nullify it all. Knowing that actually makes it less likely they take a punt and hope for the best.

Actually, it's all around them but Accuweather says not too bad until 5pm. Just depends on what state the course is in. Latest update is here. Sounds like they've not given up but that's a lot of rain on an already waterlogged course.
