Some good posts fellahs, liek the reasoning of quite a few & going with me own s/s analysis :) have come up with the following 10 jus to add to those thoughts.
BVP, Luke, Timmy Clark, Watney, kuch, Lefty, Gmac, Jimmy Walker, sergio & Glover Have factored in course form & expeirence more than normal, it's also a strong field so maybe the big names will come throu....? but i'll be backing my first 5 named for sure for a few pennies & look to trade i/r. gl all |
|
By:
Maggot, looks like you and I will have a few in common this week, but my team is about 28!
Truly good prices available on contenders that play a course where the favourites have such a poor record. Davis Love will be a BIG winner in my team, just a fantastic record here and now the Ryder cup is out the way will want to prove a few things. As the article below suggests he is making this his number 1 goal of the season, as its a course he loves so much. |

Glover at 200 matched.....3rd here 3 years ago and been in-form lately.....better value than Clark and Stenson IMO.
|
|
By:
At what time are the three ball pairings released by the pga?
|
|
By:
Agreed Ski,
Glover, Laird, Kaymer Boo are all great value in my book, absolute steal. Also had Delaat order filled anything over 500 is such good value for somebody who has such great stats off the tee and GIR. Also been in great form this year. A huge price. |
|
By:
Lol, Eric. I can put you to shame when it comes to team numbers this week..
At present My team consists of 39 of the buggers. Most recent addition being Ben Curtis (2nd here last time) Traded out of some, part traded out of others, added to a few. I note that 16% of the field has traded @ 1000, and it looks like that number may increase. Luvin' it... |
|
By:
Agree about Delaet.
|
|
By:
28...39....mine is only 16 and still waiting for many others to get matched....i can be patience.....it's a marathon not a sprint
![]() ![]() ![]() Delaet only played here once.....would want odd of 1000. |
|
By:
Ski, you don't tend to get 1000-1 on somebody who is 3rd in total driving and 2nd in GIR, but you can live in hope

|
By:
Ski... Are you saying that if Delaet was 850s on here, you wouldn't take it ?
Yes, he's an unlikely winner, but that's reflected in his price, and @ 520s, I consider him a decent bet. |
|
By:
Davis Love on the back of winning this twice, one of the very few, his last two starts here were T4 and T12. It's just a gut feeling.
Happy to take a punt on 600+ on somebody with his record round here. |
|
By:
Yeah i would take 850s if it doesn't look like any layers would be offering 1000.
|
|
By:
Don't go on about DL111 Eric......waiting for his price to drift a bit further

I always look to see who I think can play the course then look at who is value and build a team from there.

Rhino, Deansman As I said in my previous comment I'm not saying Tiger 'can't win' however if there is ever a course based on his form over the years he least likely to win on this is it!
in case anyone hasn't looked his form on the course with most recent first going back to his win are as follows, 40th, WD. 8th, 37th, 22nd, 53rd, 16th, 11th & 14th! In several of those years he had 1, 2 or 3 wins in the season coming in to the event [bearing in mind it used to be playerd in March until 07] and turned in those finishes & quite frankly if it wasn't the PGA tours flag ship event it would have been off his schedule many years ago, after all when did you last see him at another Pete Dye course out of choice like Hilton Head or another 'quirkier course' like Riveria? Is he still a great golfer? of course he is? is he the player he was? I don't think so as he looks fallible now whereas at his peak he didn't. Can he win this week? of course he can, but in a nutshell I would be more surprised if won than say Donald, Westwood, Garcia, Stenson or Watney, which to me makes him a weak favourite & one to oppose. |
|
By:
A few names who haven't been mentioned who look value are
Ooustie Poulter Dufner Hanson Gonzo Potter |
|
By:
I agree that playing this course a few times does help a lot which are negatives on Delaet and English they have both played it once, but both have made the cut!
Their odds look value to me, as both are having very good seasons backed by good stats |

Going to have a nice punt on Masters champion and world no 3 and previous winner, confidence must be sky high and Stevie to steer scottie home.

Evening gents.
Only one pick so far...zach j 95's (only started my homework tonight...always last to the party) 2nd last year (makes him too obvious?) sergio finished 2nd in 2007 and won 2008, so precedent set. Current form poor and GIR 88th not encouraging, but hey he's another one of the 'Jesus put my ball in hole' brigade and it seems to be their time of year going by last week. I'll even join him in prayer during his acceptance speech if he wins! ![]() |
