Tiger's integrity for the sport suggests he will as graciously as possible disqualify himself for inadvertent rule breach and his position in golf history will be enhanced immeasurably.   This would be more of a story for the history books and "legend of Tiger" than winning again this year.... and of course he'll be back next year.

Woods didn't become the greatest play in history by disqualifying himself unnecessarily.

Has to be a DQ. He's effectively admitted that the choice to go further back was to improve the shot. Confusion, not foul play on Woods' part without doubt, but I would imagine he will be called infront of officials, admit his oversight, and be applauded off with an honourable dq.

Watching him on the last 10 holes yesterday, his price now is about what it should be without a 50/50 chance he's DQ.

So he probably dropped it 2 yards back...so he could play the exact same shot he played previously without any correction, and bounce it 2 yds short of the stick....after having viewd what that shot will result in.

You can talk all you want about this but the fact is the rules were broke.

The United States Golf Association rule 26-1a states that a player must take their drop "as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played".

He did not place the ball "as nearly as possible" at the spot of the original. And in his interview he says he moved the ball back 2 yards which is an admission that he knew where the original was and that he therefore did not place the ball as near as possible.

Whether they can get him off is another matter but he broke the rules and that should not be up for debate in my opinion.
