Markets reopened now and it looks as if Betfair has managed to avoid fukkups. It looks like only bets matched after the off has been voided.

I have a small wager on Mahan, so I'm not really financially affected by this decision, but, I think it's wrong. As someone else pointed out "them's the breaks", once they start, they should only suspend. How many tournaments would have been utterly changed if this policy was in place regularly?
There's definitely be a different list of Open winners anyway, no Clarkey, no Oosty (and that's just from the last 3 years). |

Bad decision by the PGA, good decision by Betfair. Read a quote from Sned re the weather where he said on the range he was hitting 8 irons that were going 50 yards into the wind. Extreme to say the least, still shouldn't have reset scores.
Can anyone recall them ever doing this before? |

thats a different argument poorest punter
the praise is for betfair following the pga decision pga opening a can of worms, ...... again |
|

I've seen that they thought it would be an unfair advantage to the later starters. Thats the crux, isnt it?, utter nonsense.
So if its all calm and Dustbin and Stricks go out and the wind gets up halfway through, can they cite the weather as valid reasons to void it all again? |

I think the tour were right to cancel the days play. The conditions were farcical by the end. It was the first round and less than 9 holes had been played best to start again.
It happened once in the open at Birkdale the sat morning conditions were terrible some played 18 and the day was eventually voided. |

It just made them play more or less like most of the viewers. It was endearing

Ian Poulter @IanJamesPoulter
My prediction for today is as follows we will not strike 1 shot. It's worse than yesterday outside. Tournament will start on Sunday. |
|
By:
Well all my greens gone......nothing matched at all......weather looks piss poor according to Poulter.
Will be giving this tournament a miss. Can't be bothered to start all over again. |

Will be giving this tournament a miss. Can't be bothered to start all over again. Probably for the best, it's a **** tournament anyway, the Sony is the real season opener (plus the break wasn't long enough this year imo). |

By:
they are talking of no play today and 2 days of 36 holes they will be knackered

Windy at Kapalua, but nicest weather of the week right now. Frustration mounting from players and caddies. "Let them play! Let them play!" 5 minutes ago |
|
By:
just cancel the tourney
|
|
By:
Jason Sobel @JasonSobelGC
Rules official walking through clubhouse: "Just added an hour!" Doesn't sound like this season is starting anytime soon. Put back another hour. Doubt that there will be any play today. |
|
By:
as i said 2 days of 36 holes but another day of wind and rain and its a 36 hole tourny on one day these pros are over protected i remember a couple of years ago they came off for wind on the european tour and we were playing just down the road in 60 mph wind and carried on OH WHAT A SHELTERED LIFE THESE PROS LEAD get out there and play its the same for all of you you soft ****

Calm down....it's only a game of golf!!
|
|
By:
It comes down to the speed of the greens Pandy, bet the golfers would enjoy battling the conditions until reaching the putting surface when it would be a lottery as per Pettersson yesterday.

Agree Par, just watched the video..looks a tad breezy..

|
By:

By:
Not likely they'll even get out at all today, according to Poults, with the Friday 'start' this could be curtains for the event.
|
|
By:
