Winning is the icing on cake. For the majority of guys on tour it is about earning enough to keep their card.
If Wilson had earned a few more euros last year he would still have a tour card. Briny Baird has won $13 million dollars. Not a bad job. |

First signs of the wind strengthening and the clouds darkening...

By:
MW, when Briney Baird is old and grey ask him again if he would have swapped $6M for one major, that is of course if you remember who he is in 40 years time... I think not.
I know I would |
By:
Or even better ask Ben Curtis if he would give up his Open Championship medal for $4M?
By:
$6million for a major. Thats a lot of money.
Doubt he will mind me not remembering him in 40 years as rocks in his chair safe in the knowledge that his time on the pga tour has set his family up for generations. At the end of the day golfers play for money. Why do you think you find the big european players globe trotting to play events yet the likes of westwood, donald, rose barely set foot on european soil. If it was the wins that mattered they would be turning up in the poxy european events with 1million euro prize funds. |

well done bexley gd rounds for your bets ...... its my turn hopefully all the best every and beem :)

Thanks Kev it pains me to return the favour but good luck with your selections
![]() Seriously though Every was 3 clear of a muppet in Haas with, as a few pointed out, not much quality in sight. Now a few good players have gone out, moved into contention and the wind has got up and Every is still trading at 5.5 I'm not laying more but this strikes me exactly the same was as when I layed Furyk at 4.6 last week before he began his second round. What does Every have to shoot to justify this price ? Level par? |
By:
Play suspended due to inclement weather
By:
ah play suspended that maybe explains it
By:
well if he was that with a 3 shot lead you would think he would need to shot -4 to restore his 3 shot lead?
tbh am tempted to green out on him but i am unsure if there will be anymore play today. In a way hoping not so he can play 2nd round 2moz morning in the calm lol |
By:
Will be interesting to see the pictures on Sky when they come back. I wonder if they are getting any major rain as that would make the course play very long for the weekend
Every's price as it is now I think pretty much assumes he will be playing his round in good conditions tomorrow morning |
By:
Forecast I just checked suggest they should be able to play in a couple of hours time at the worst - its been very acuurate so far today
![]() |
By:
hope we catch some coverage later on sky :(
By:
there will be no more sky coverage. it was on for 3 hours at 3.30
By:
Play meant to restart at 4.05 ET which I guess is 9.05pm here
By:
Lets hope that wind howls
By:
pretty much everyone going backwards bogeys galore
By:
Players out now will be glad when darkness falls...only 3 guys under par from afternoon starters...
By:
Any player that got the early Thursday-late Friday draw must be seriously peeved the way that has turned out. They must be wishing that weather delay had lasted a few hours longer. You know when you come to Texas though that there's every chance the wind will be a factor.Very much regretting now that i didn't include Tringale in my bets for the week.I'm a last minute merchant when it comes to getting my outright bets on and by the time i got round to placing my bets about 2 hours before the first tee ball was struck on Thursday he was down to 40s with the books.I just couldn't take that.I gather he was tipped up all over the place though.

By:
Interesting to see a Scotsman performing well in the obvious wind...Knox bogey free front nine plus 2 birdies
By:
Covered my lay on Every at 12's before I go to bed. I assume they can't play much longer and he will get a few holes in benign conditions tomorrow.
Been an excellent day for my book ![]() |
By:
Afternoon apparently playing almost 4 shots harder than the morning.
By:
Reminds me of the British Open a few years back when the morning players averaged -2 and the afternoon players averaged +5.
By:
By:
Morning starters clearly had the advantage yesterday, I am not sure what everyone is carrying on about
By:
Hunter Haas has impressed me. If he can get in at around -5 or so I think he can win this. His +2 round this afternoon is actually one of the better ones.
By:
I bet Tommy Gainey, Jimmy Walker and Ryuji Imada- a combined 49 over for 2 rounds. Do I win some sort of booby prize for that?
By:
Start of the day the cut was +1. Before the afternoon tee times it was +1. Now it's +5 and expected to go to +6. If conditions are the same tomorrow maybe some of these early tee times that are between +2 and Even can make a charge before the leaders tee off.
By:
Day 2 not a gd day for me .... managed to green out on Rich Beem , Still left Matt Every running, recovering well with couple of birdies.
Best Of Luck for Weekend Lads. |
By:
Day two not much better than day one. Now losing 70% of initial stakes. Chances thin to none. I do have two possible winners though.
By:
Every hanging on well
2 birdies and an 11ft putt for a third when he comes back, plus a par 5 in easier conditions Not too bad seeing he was plus 4 for the day a few holes back, and better fancied players like Kuchar and Jaccobsen (both finished +4)have fared worse Even if Every pars in, he still has a massive chance against Curtis and Tringale in the same conditions over 2 rounds, you feel his -7 (as it stands) is as good as Curtis's -10 given the huge advantage Curtis had on day 2 |
By:
Greened up last night......only traded on 3 players.....a small win better than nowt.....focusing on the China malarky
By:
Oh, it is always pleasing to see that £4 of my money got matched laying Curtis at 3.2, the lowest matched.....couldn't that person have taken the whole order.....oh well, have backed Curtis @3.75...that makes 4 players traded.
By:
I think Ben Curtis at this stage is a massive price. The 4 time PGA tour winner which included the Open championship is 2 & 3 shots clear of 3 players who have collectively 0 wins on tour between them then he is 6 clear of the main danger in my eyes Palmer.
Best golfer on that leader by far and wont mind the wind. I'd have him around 2-1 at this stage. |
By:
I'd give a tip but I'd just put the kiss of death on whoever I tipped. Na withdrew and Grace, whom I questioned, has powered to the lead in Euro.
Tringale, Cauley and Piercy are all bad results for me so I'll tip them in a three-way playoff. C'mon the awesome power of the jinx ![]() |

By:
6 on the first for ben.
By:
Very slow leaderboard
By:
Shot tracker on the blink again
By:
Just for the final group it seems
By:
not on the blink just extremely slow an hour to play two holes
