I know this is slightly off topic currently but with February hitting us i cant help thinking about battle plans ahead for Augusta. Had some really strong results in this event over the years with Olazabal, Johnson, Cabrera and Schwartzel along with some of my team flattering to decieve, DiMarco, Snedeker, Campbell.
Like to get quite a few in the book for this one as with such a short field i feel your odds of interest come sunday evening are quite generous compared to the other majors.
Anyway had my first dabble today, YE Yang at the standout 150,s with Korals, backed this guy a couple of times when finishing just outside the places (8th - 20th) the last two years and as a definate runner feel he is too big. Just needs to eat the par 5,s up a little better to challenge.

Will be adding:

Westwood (16,s) - Gonna win a major this year surely
Ogilvy (66,s) - Top 26 for the last 3 years
Scwartzel (40,s) - He owes me nothing and we have had plenty of dual winners here
D.Johnson (40,s) - Three top 40,s last 3 years with added experience of 'major' pressures.

Anyway thats me, whats your thoughts team betfair ?

I think the last guy to win a major will be a very interesting contender again.

Look no further than Brandt Snedeker and Bill Haas.

Have to agree with Simpson if he can hold his amazing form.

KJ Choi for me.

Titch - Westwood will surely win a major this year? Why? I don't think he'll ever win one, He is Monty the sequel.

i thought choi would win a masters but he has been very negative about his chances since the course was lengthened

i'd love to see him win there

therhino, i must admit to feeling similar until the backend of last year when i felt he now actually believes how good he is, in the past i felt he was always looking over his shoulder in majors as if he didn't really deserve one, westwood should be able to challenge for all four majors such is his all round game, i,m sure plenty of people will have similar thoughts to yourself but as black eyed peas would say "i gotta feeling".

Too early to have any thoughts.......but one thought i've had for years is this......Westwood will never win a major...full stop...

you cant compare westy to monty..in the three U.S majors ..monty wilted in the heat more often than not, and westy is a lot fitter and better prepared

You can compare them easily Sweetchild. Both brits, both world beaters week to week and 0 majors between them.

I agree about Westwood never winning one - he doesnt have enough confidence in his putting under the severest pressure - played beautifully for 3 rounds in the Masters a couple of years back, but on the Sunday all his putts were lagged up to the hole side on the front 9, never put Phil under any pressure by trying to grab the tournament by the throat, and when Phils form kicked in he walked away with it. Same at the US Open in 2008, he was 100 yards away in 2 oon the final hole and needed to birdie the final par-5 to reach the play off, didnt even manage to get his putt to get into the play off to the hole. Terrible stuff to watch. His long game deserves a few majors, his short game and putting not good enough

Fully agree with the comments around Westwoods putting... in the past, purely down to confidence and belief as i stated, however, i do believe when he gets into contention next time we will see a Westwood who knows time is running out to win a big one and try to assert himself much more than in the past.

Can't compare him to Monty, think we all knew that whatever great position he got into in a major someone was gonna piss him off enough to lose the plot whether it be the gallery, photographers, angle of the sun, birds chirping, polite conversation 3 miles down the road etc etc etc.

Charl Schwartzel at about 46 on here is value.  He is in good form, and is taking a bit of a break.

Trevor Immelman 2008 1st 2009 20th 2010 14th 2011 15th trades at 125/1 with bet 3.6.5 seems a decent bet.

After a weekend with Tiger & Lefty in the limelight anyone raising them in the pecking order for Augusta?
Personally, other than guaranteed broadcast time i still can't have them at the prices.

Thought Dustbin looked ripe for The Masters until he took an iron out! Still think he is huge, just doesnt look like he is trying very hard to win at the moment. Just have a feeling about him now

Haas is so dodgy in front but has it done now twice when looking as though throwing it away - can't knock him.

Can never back him but Micko looks ripe too, whilst my original pick Woodland has done himself in going to Butch.

Can Dustins short game conquer at Augusta? I would have my doubts although the rest of his game suits well.

Stanley is interesting but would need 100s to interest me.

Edoardo Molinari at 380 is big imo.  Earlier I had a bet at ~360.  He was 11th last year tied Rose, Stricker, Westwood.

Love betting on The Masters antepost, from a form point of
view it is easier than many others to get a handle on. Got some nice value prices and hoping one or two can hit the frame. Will probably add a couple from the front of the market nearer the time. All bets ew.

J Rose 66/1
B Haas 100/1
M Laird 125/1
T Immelman 125/1
JM Olazabal 250/1

Just loving Adam Scotts, Charl Schwartzel's, and Steve Stricker's form having backed them @44s, 50s and 85s. I just need Bubba , Kuchar and Karlsson to pick up their games now.
