True Herbie, but hard to predict whether the weather will definately suit morning starters or not, and if the wind picks up this arvo (scoring seems to be getting tougher already), I would think he will have to trade 40 or 50 points shorter overnight than the 240 that I just picked up

Less than 6/4 the front two coupled before day 1 is even over. My book is in trouble, but you'd better believe I'm going in again at those prices.

you are a brave man chosen, but with the wind to come over 3 days there is a long long way to go

Ok, just smashed into Oosty. Second group out tomorrow, almost certainly gets the best of the conditions, wind expected to be brutal in the afternoon for Mcilroy and most others close to him.
Should provide for a good trade come late tomorrow |
By:
After his drive on 17 I`m a bit disappointed with -7.
By:
True Frames, but with the tee times tomorrow I would make him equal leader right now?
Mcilroy may have to play in the worst conditions for the whole tournament tomorrow, likewise Tiger |
By:
I hope that`s the case but after all the forecasts posted for today I`ll believe it when I see it.

I`m trying to picture Rock and Dredge in the final group Sunday.
I`m struggling tbh. |

bad day frames?

Happy enough with Tiger DT or slightly disappointed ?
Not the best of days Deepwater but I don`t think I`ve done too much wrong. It can`t always be straightforward. |

Field £-90
Fisher 295 Stenson 310 Kaymer 550 Watney 330 Choi 1000 Fredrik Andersson Hed 1200 Wood 385 Mahan 585 Overton 570 S Hansen 710 Schwartzel 390 Yang 3900 Slocum 1450 A Hansen 1000 Ikeda 4900 Faldo 1900 Fujita 1800 Jeong 1900 Noh 4700 Well, I have lost Anders Hansen (+7), and probably Fujita, Choi and Overton. Soren Hansen, Ikeda, Faldo and Noh at evens have a lot of work to do, especially as they had the best of the conditions today. Disappointed especially with Noh and Ikeda, as they were both flying early on. More positively; Fisher, Stenson, Andersson Hed and Watney have all started well. I am hopeful that Kaymer and Slocum can get in the hutch with good scores and also be able to take advantage of the early conditions tomorrow. Jin Jeong is also looking good, but Im not expecting anything from him really. Mahan, Wood and Schwartzel are all under par, but they are going to have to play damn well to get themselves into a place where they can contend over the weekend. |

Happy enough frames, didnt putt great but was fortunate a few times, so no complaints at all.
Will have to improve his putting over the next few days for sure |
By:
i thought tiger's putting was excellent today , especially his distance putting. It shows the difference of opinion I suppose
By:
Tiger looked like he was putting well but I feel it was exaggerated by the fact the greens were so responsive due to the steady rain. It was hard to knock anything 8-10 feet past the hole.
By:
well then you could say that for everyone in the field. The way Tiger has putted in the last year, today was excellent imo

with strong wind tomorrow
how will decide woods price to get out |
By:
This looks wide open. Early starters have a good chance to make some birdies tomorrow and then McIlroy/Woods could come back to the field in the windy conditions.
Then with more bad weather forecast for the weekend you could see some guys shooting low numbers on Saturday from off the pace. |
By:
someone in the commentery 30 mins ago said weather worse in the morning
dont think anyone really knows what its going to be like |
By:
Having just seen the wind forecasts for the next 3 days Rory McIlroy is going to take all the catching, I can see him shooting under par every day (like his record says)which means................. I do not think anybody will catch him. Tomorrow will be the test, if he has a good day he may even go away from the field and win by a canter!
I just wish I had put more on him. A good day for me, except Harrigton and Michelson. Have most of the ones you would want up there with the exception of Westwood and Daly. |

Day 1 summary.
It could have been worse but not much.Final figures for the day are as above.Still have the 22 losers. My decent winners who can hopefully reduce the loss include Oosthuizen +37k Hanson +21 Casey +23 Kaymer +44 Yang +24 Watney +12 Fisher +16. Don`t think many saw those conditions coming ,pitch and putt at it`s finest. Not sure I agree with KR regards it being wide open although I hope it is.Will have to see what the weather gods decide tomorrow. At this moment I am thinking a 5k loss would be acceptable but you never know in this game. Hope there are some better reports from others. Good luck for Day 2. |
By:
Im ditto with you frames - In teh mioddle of some trading so cant post figures but out of ur reds only mic, westy (neutral), hed, lawrie and daly are green 4 me...
If Mcilroy wasnt there my book would be fine but IU really see him running away with this... so am trying to reduce red as we speak. |
By:
frames do you ever consider tidying up your position at the end of the day?
By:
If I could I would MW.Do you mean level them all up ?
After another look the 5k loss is very hopeful. |
By:
yes or reducing your liabilities
By:
I`ll leave a few bets up overnight and see what happens.
By:
there is still a long way to go and a lot could happen.
By:
heres mine :)
have a slightly different system to most , more of a backer then try to tidy up on sundays :) but depends on position! field -500 my potential winners ohair 850 oosty 1300 dredge 2500 allenby 1100 ogilvy 1500 scott 800 glover 5700 vj 800 z johnston 1500 coltart 4500 immelman 1000 siem 6400 crane 4600 dyson 2500 marino 3800 senden 9000 gay 6800 mgowan 8500 slochum 1600 rock 5000 canizares 800 tilley 2000 prob just behind if was to trade all but will let ride tomorrow as tiger , rory and westy should have worst of conditions. need at least 2 of them to take a f o ff tablet to get myself in good position. |
By:
The wind is only going to be alittle stronger than this afternoon, so a good round in those conditions was 4 or 5 under! So lets say somebody has 3 back to back 4 unders, that means 12 under for the next 3 rounds.
If Rory goes 70, 70, 70, his 3 worst rounds around here, that puts him on 15 under, therefore you can discount anybody 2 under and worse. But as I say tomorrow is the key day to me, if rory shoots 69 or better forget most of the field. |
By:
the big unknown is how McIlroy will handle the pressure.
By:
if you believe met office predictions, wind gonna be upto 10 mph stronger in the afternoon than morning, if that holds true then likely we see a bunched field at the top tomorrow night imo.
By:
Fairly straightforward day from me, not much excitement, but not much stress either, no massive trades, just grinding it out. Currently sitting-
Field +3.2 Rory Level Tiger -1 Garcia -8 Glover -6 Moore -9 Ishikawa -22 And not forgetting Siem +22. Oops. My feeling is tomorrow could get pretty nasty for the later starters, so not yet decided whether to even out the Rory and Tiger positions , will see what weather the morning brings. If it`s rough i`d probably look to get Rory back onside but perhaps not Tiger. He played pretty good stuff in the perfect conditions but not convinced the game would hold up in worse conditions. |
