point is footsoldiers 17k is still a lot more than the majority on here would start out with. Of course with no edge or strategy, that will soon go, but that size of bank could sustain a few losses, even at your current level of laying with a sound strategy, whereas a 2k bank could not, and also you'd have to lay for far smaller stakes with that size of bank anyway, so it would take a very long time to build that up to be able to comfortably lay at these sort of levels.

I was travelling between edinburgh and glasgow
they had me working in edinburgh monday night, glasgow tue night, edinburgh wednesday night, glasgow thurs night, edinburgh fri night 6 till 3i in the morning i was working in between time 3/4 hrs a day finding that edge.. it wasn't easy. |

Deeper, 1,700 is 10% of 17,000 and 15 is 10% of 150, so lay the bets to a stake of 15 and average 100 a day profit

you could make 150/200 per day 7 days a week that's a 1000 a week with 15 quid lays.. |

I suppose though deeper, you still need an edge in what bets you pick, no matter what size bank you still need to ensure that you have a high % of winners.
IE- 20 a lay bet at Average odds of 10.0 would mean that you need to get at least 9/10 correct to make a profit Same thing as if you are placing 200 per lay bet at average odds of 10.0, you still need to get at least 9/10 to make a profit, so in conclusion, whether the bank is of 17k or 2k you still need to have a high success rate!? |

you couild get a bank loan for 20k nowadays and pay it off at 300 per month if it was that easy deeper..

deeper could start with a 2k bank, but it will take a year of sheer dicipline and patience to get that up to 10k
then 2 years up to 20k say. then your laughing.. it would feel a grind but 2 years is nothing.time flies by |

I was stupid today for example i know by looking at the cards today there was nothing..
but because i had been up all night watching tennis and got 3 hrs kip before the racing and set my alarm for the racing, this made me lay today instead of walking away. |

dunno, I find that playing for small stakes could eventually lead to boredom and then trying to up the stakes when it's not wise to in case you have to take a hit.
Yeah, fair enough, point taken re the 15 lays, could still theoretically make 100 per day (and lost what, 200 to 300 worst case scenario).Still seems an awful long way to go to get to the current 150 lay per bet though. That's what I was doing when I started on here, laying 20-1 horses, tended to be winning bets all the way for a week, then I had to pay out, and it's the worst sickening feeling when that happens. Now I tend to trade at shorter odds, different strokes for different folks and all that but I find big liabilities for small returns too stressful, that fear of the next bet being the payout is always in the back of your mind. |

Might seem a long way from 15 to 150, but if you are learning as you go you reduce the chances of doing yer cash. I know when I first started looking at the old place laying thread was doing small amounts, but that soon built but I was also learning a lot more about racing as I was going. Don't do that any more but what I learnt in that period has been put to good use since then which I wouldn't have done had I continued just lumping on blind and not learning. Shaping up to be another huge classic thread here FS! Good guys on here chatting away again - very few threads manage that these days! |

fair enough bradders. I don't use strategies like Footsoldiers is, I prefer to get involved at the other end of the market and back and lay that way so can play for bigger % stakes,was just interested in the method to the strategy and staking used here.
Footsoldiers can profit this way, other full timers will succeed by using higher risk strategies to win bigger amounts, and by backing instead of laying, plenty of ways to succeed (and fail!) on here. Comes back to having an edge I suppose. |

well gentlemen i've wrote the tennis off for tonight i couldn't even get 150 layed on all the matches
savchuk couldn't get layed no liquidity makarova couldn't get it layed only for 78 quid Vesselin you could have layed for 4 pounds and as we speak Economidis you can lay for 69 quid.. so i'm gonna give tennis a miss until next week hoping liquidity improves night all. |
