Good luck dragon.

Grandad had it, rather ignored symptoms until too late
dad has it, got treated in his 60s, and just celebrated 90th,he has
yearly check up these days and no deterioration past 10 years or so.

Got to take these check ups and go with treatments,

Good luck to you, Dragon. Hope all goes well.

Ironically I had to have a camera down my little man last week. It wasn’t very pleasant. He then threw in a prostrate examination. That wasn’t much fun either!

My elder brother rang me up last week and told me after a battery of conflicting tests he has prostrate cancer.

So I asked my GP for a PSA test. I was told that without outward signs of prostrate cancer a PSA test wasn't called for as they give a lot of false positives.

I insisted and am having one on Thursday.

Hope it all works out well for you TD

It’s really a no brainier having these test it’s a little needle or someone sticks a finger up your arse for a few seconds ,when you think about it some chaps enjoy that sort of thing.

I do not mean to be critical, particularly most of my mates have it, in varying degrees of advancement, BUT is Prostate the most misspelt word in the english language?  Get well soon Dragon. Wishing you well.

It must be. I never knew I was spelling it wrong (was gonna say  all my life but I doubt it’s something I’ve written very often).

If your Prostate cancer check takes ages, tell them to pull their finger out.

Dragon - what was your PSA reading? Thanks

Good that you got tested before things maybe advanced further Dragon.
And sound advice for others to get a PSA test, especially if they are in a higher risk group.

I'm amazed that there isn't a nationwide screening or testing program in place for all guys of a certain age, like there is for Aortic Aneurysms for example.
The current campaign encourages us to ask our GP for a test, so i'm amazed at the attitude of Nobby's GP and he is quite right to insist of having one.

My uncle had a similar diagnosis to yours over a decade ago Dragon and he is still going strong.
So whichever treatment you decide on i wish you all the best mate.

The Dragon and I are good mates away from the forum and have met up a good few times to watch a game at Selhurst Park together. It's absolutely heartbreaking what he's now going through but he's a fighter for sure and he'll beat this.

I have a prostrate and bowel cancer test every year without fail.
If your G.P. says that you're not a likely candidate for either then you must insist.

thanks for your well wishes guys. i will now the tratement pathway shortly so once that has been made it shd be easier mentally.

very sorry to hear that, Dragon.

Horrible disease that killed my old man, he was diagnosed far too late (like many of his generation).

It sounds like you've probably caught it in the nick of time, good luck with your treatment and hope you recover well mate.
